VGimlet Posted June 10, 2022 Author Posted June 10, 2022 Last week with the Wild Unknown (maybe). Been a cool, very rainy start to summer here. I guess it's better than sweltering hot...
fire cat pickles Posted June 10, 2022 Posted June 10, 2022 I'm in with the TDM Thunder Bay Press this week.
vulprix Posted June 10, 2022 Posted June 10, 2022 Hi all! ☺️ Marshmallow Marseille for me coming up, as it is a go-to travel deck!

Amberjune Posted June 11, 2022 Posted June 11, 2022 Thank you for the new thread, @VGimlet. It's going to be a very hot weekend in my area. I'm in with the Modern Spellcasters Tarot and the Believe in your own Magic cards. Have fun, everybody!
Bodhiseed Posted June 11, 2022 Posted June 11, 2022 We're experiencing high temperatures and humidity, so I'm going with a deck that has some shade in it 😂: Secret Forest Tarot paired with the Faeries Oracle.
fire cat pickles Posted June 11, 2022 Posted June 11, 2022 My "main" reading for the week. All comments are welcome (and TBH necessary). Feedback appreciated and promised!
Rachelcat Posted June 11, 2022 Posted June 11, 2022 My deck of the week will be for today through Monday. (Then I’m going to jump over to the Sacred Days of Midsummer and a different deck.) The deck is Iassen Ghiuselev Tarot, a new, majors-only version of the Tarot of the III Millennium. The minors and courts of that deck were just too strange and collage-y, so I let it go years ago. But I do like the architectural style of the majors, not to say they don’t have some quirks of their own. So I’m interested to give it a try! Let’s check it out with a short form interview: Strength: XV (Devil) I agree that this is the strongest card in the deck. So much to see here! The crookedness of the pose, the nudity, the self-harm pin, the cloven hooves, the victims or demons converted into comedy and tragedy masks. And why is he holding his tail? And even it is twisted and knotted. This card definitely shows the strengths of the deck: traditional with quirks combined with masterful artistry. Weakness: XI (Strength) Did someone say irony? Again, the pose is amazing. I can’t stop looking at the man’s eye between the lion’s fangs. But of course I hate to see a lion being harmed. And maybe part of the reason THAT’s a weakness is because it’s literally bloodless. Violence is depicted as beautiful . . . What can the deck teach me? VI (Lover) It can teach me what this card means! At first, it looks like Cupid is negotiating with the man, but then we see the man has already been shot through, with the head of the arrow sticking out of his back. Is Cupid just closely examining his handiwork? And why does the man hold a rosary? The deck can teach me more subtle aspects of relationships. Outcome of our work together: XIII (Death) Another amazing pose. I’m trying to work out the anatomy of this skeleton that’s strategically hidden and revealed by Renaissance-style drapery. (The long-handled scythe is a counterpart to the devil’s pitchfork.) The crow with food in its mouth says that death is necessary for life. Mundanely, this means that I’ll play with the deck a few days and then put it away. But I’d like to think it means the deck will help me see things so differently that some of my preconceived notions about the majors will be forever changed. We’ll see in the next few days!
Bodhiseed Posted June 12, 2022 Posted June 12, 2022 @Rachelcat, those cards are amazing! I can't help thinking that the fellow on the Strength card might be killing his own courage, that part of him that helps hims speak up for himself and others.
Bodhiseed Posted June 12, 2022 Posted June 12, 2022 (edited) This week I'll be using Tarot of the Secret Forest, created by Lucia Mattioli and published by Lo Scarabeo. I'll also be drawing from the Faeries' Oracle created by Brian Froud with text by Jessica Macbeth; it was published by Simon & Schuster. Today's cards are the Knave of Coins and Singer of Courage: The Knave of Coins is always trying to construct something (or take it apart to see how it works). He pauses, checks to see if he has the right part, then checks again. He's a hands-on methodical learner, but it will eventually make him very good at what he chooses to do. Patience and steadiness are as much a part of him as breathing. But there is more to learn than following the rules and instructions to the letter. The Singer of Courage reminds us that an expansive life goes beyond plodding along and coloring inside the lines in order to maintain our comfort zone. The world is constantly changing, and we need to be brave enough to adapt and learn new things instead of rigidly trying to stay safely cocooned. We'd do well to heed the words of Brendan Behan: "Every man, through fear, mugs his aspirations a dozen times a day." Edited June 12, 2022 by Bodhiseed

Wow, interesting take! Taking out his courage, that would be a weakness indeed! I'll definitely remember that interp!
Wyrdkiss Posted June 12, 2022 Posted June 12, 2022 well greetings. This week I am doing the Grim Tarock by Ian Miller -- and later, once posted, I will have a special treat for you all in the form of a video flip-thru on YouTube.
Page of Ghosts Posted June 12, 2022 Posted June 12, 2022 I'll be using my fresh Trionfi della Luna Illustrated Pips edition this week! Looking forward to getting to know it better.

Rachelcat Posted June 13, 2022 Posted June 13, 2022 I somehow messed up the copying of the link, but today's is right below yesterday's! Three readings tomorrow: Full moon, super moon, and first day of Sacred Days of Midsummer. I'll be ready!

And the drawings are amazing. I fear it would be too strange for my tastes, but it's also lovely. Does anyone else get insomnia around the full moon? I hardly slept last night. Jumping in a little late this week with my old friend the Spiral tarot. It's such a lovely, emotional, painterly deck. This week's supplemented by the Gaian. Edited June 14, 2022 by euripides
Bodhiseed Posted June 14, 2022 Posted June 14, 2022 From the Tarot of the Secret Forest, the Devil; from the Faeries' Oracle, the Pook: It's hell season (summer) here, so I can very much relate to this card. Temperatures are at 99 F, but expected to climb to 103-105 F next week. We've had no rain in quite a while, but hordes of mosquitoes will find any bare flesh to bite and the swarms of gnats attempt to get in your eyes, nose and mouth to find moisture. These insects are a good symbol of the Devil, that part of us that feeds on what we think will help us but can hurt us in the long run. The Pook is a shapeshifter who helps others see the bad in the good and the good in the bad. He advocates for balance in our perceptions. As John Milton points out, "The mind is its own place, and in itself can make a heaven of Hell, a hell of Heaven." I can't get rid of the bugs outside, but I can work on those in my head. There is much more to focus on: the zinnias, salvia and coneflowers are blooming, and three varieties of woodpeckers are back at the feeders. But I might watch and enjoy from my screened-in back porch!

But I might watch and enjoy from my screened-in back porch! I love this. The heathenry of the heat, and the little conscientiousness of spying it from afar. It's like two different approaches to nature meeting up and having a conversation indeed 😄 Oh, and @fire cat pickles—glad to be a TdM buddy! I love pip decks, and this is one of my favorites of all. I have done a little mini-cross reading about opening up more at work about my personal life. I typically keep almost everything to myself as privacy is very important to me, but I have been very happy at home and want to feel a little freer in camaraderie like my other coworkers. Issue: Ten of Disks crossed by Ace of Swords Past: Queen of Cups Present: 9 of Cups Future: Knight of Pentacles What to do/how to cope: Queen of Pentacles I'm not doing a very good job sticking to my initial interpretation, but it is this: Rather than continue the past introspection, seek to steadily, cautiously, and practically share more of myself. I have warmth to give and in which I can be confident. The happiness can be shared as long as I stay grounded. There is a bit of constancy here--the Queen of Pentacles of my approach moving forward is situated rather like the Queen of Cups of my past, but she is standing up instead. What I see is some freedom, but what may guide me best is practicality! (Doesn't really help me much, because I have a history of feeling like the most practical thing is to just keep my personal life to myself. 😆) Welcoming interpretation perspectives from anyone 🙂 Edited June 14, 2022 by vulprix Added pic
Bodhiseed Posted June 14, 2022 Posted June 14, 2022 @vulprix, I am trying so hard not to go search for the Marshmallow Marseille! 😍

(Doesn't really help me much, because I have a history of feeling like the most practical thing is to just keep my personal life to myself. 😆) Welcoming interpretation perspectives from anyone 🙂 Yes a TdM buddy! I normally don't use position or spreads but I'll try... I see you as the Queen of Cups here since she's holding the cups and you get the 9 of Cups/wish card in the future. And this is your wish card. So if you open up a few private details about yourself then it would be a positive. The question then remains, how to do it. Well, you have no Wands/work cards. The advice then would be not to do it at work. You have the foundation set (10 of Coins) already and the idea is strong (Ace of Swords). The Queen of Coins is /would be in agreement with you and can help you cope. This is an older woman with blond or gray hair. She is the "work mom" that everybody loves and gives out advice. Meeting after work for drinks or coffee would be the way to go, just the two of you, under the guise of talking shop, of course. Then once away from work, start to sneak in a few private details. The Ace of Swords symbolizes her "good ideas" pointing towards your "better enlightenment" (9 of Cups). In the future there will be others to join you, the Knight of Coins, in other away-from-work outings. He has similar features as the Queen of Coins. Does the "work mom" have a relative? A son or nephew or someone close to her? I feel they are really close because of the Coins-Coins connection. It may not be blood-related but they could be besties. At any rate they look like they could be related at least. The three of you could then start seeing each other after work.
vulprix Posted June 15, 2022 Posted June 15, 2022 @Bodhiseed, it is a mainstay and renders a lot of my other decks much lonelier 😆 I really should declutter coming up. I would be curious if you continue to resist! @fire cat pickles, WOW! My reading interpreted the cards quite differently, but your interpretation really illuminated possibilities that I think are very fitting for my situation. I have thought about taking the Office Mom out to tea, or dinner, or drinks or whatever. So you really hit the nail on the head. (Great observance about no Wands cards!) The third person, unsure, but I am curious about how that might play out. Maybe when I am ready, I will invite the Office Mom out to unwind with me to try and engage 🙂 Thank you so much for this interpretation, very generous of you!
