Golden Art Nouveau Tarot, Full Size

Who has it and what do you think of it?

Does it say where it was made?

Reason I'm asking is there are a TON of these decks on eBay for around $10.  From China.  Anyone have one that was purchased fm one of these sellers?  (no judgement here) and is the card quality any different than what you expected?

I'm not sure where Lo Scarabeo produces their decks currently.

Any kind thoughts will be appreciated.  I don't like buying fm Amazon, but I do like a good deal.  I'm good w pre-owned decks too!

Thank you members and guests.

Above post isn't letting me re-edit atm...

So I just learned something about scrolling down on those ridiculously low-priced decks.

1)  Some are listed as Unbranded (uh huh) or not branded at all

2)  They all offered a pdf instead of a little white booklet in the box

So yes I was looking at pirated decks.  Big surprise.

I STILL would love to know what owners think of their decks.  I love the colors, line drawings and the foiling fm the pictures??

I have the regular size full deck, and I like it. The foil is lovely. On the box it says "made in Italy" but I'm not sure what that means any more.... And it's available from tarotgarden - or of course direct from the publisher or their distributor over there - Llewellyn.

And FYI: from a thread where this came up:

I have the regular sized deck. It's one of my favorites. It reads like a dream, It's beautiful, I love the card stock. It's kind of plasticy so if one happened to get dirty it could be wiped down with a damp cloth which I think makes it perfect for a carry along deck. I got mine from Lo Scarabeo and it says it's made in Italy as well. It came with a LWB but I haven't really looked at. It's close enough to the RWS that I find it unnecessary. I like this art style much better though.

Sadly we had to make an editing change in January @bastetly because people were joining the forum and abusing the edit function to keep changing posts and troll 😱. gregory posted how it now works and everyone can always edit a post up to 60 mins after posting it. Also you did it perfectly, just start a new post or quote your old post if you cannot edit the post again 😎

I am looking for a deck in the UK which I cannot find outside America and would be very expensive with postage and customs to get from there. I saw it one day on Amazon and Ebay UK! I was so happy but it was way too cheap! Like a tenth of the American regular price for the deck. It also came with a pdf guidebook. It's pirated and dodgy for sure, I didn't get one but it looks like photocopied cards lol. I looked and there is 4 of the on Amazon right now from Chinese sellers. I know that deck artists complain on their social media often about this but I have never seen such a proliferation of pirated decks as now and they are all over the place!

Good luck finding your Art Nouveau, I think cheap prices and PDF booklet when it normally has a LWB are big clues

Thank you @gregory for your input on the deck.  It's good to know the foiling looks nice.  And for the heads up on the new policy for editing w/in 60 minutes of posting!

@AnomalyTempest  I love it when cards are a bit water resistant!  That's useful for sure.  I prefer the drawings on this deck as well.  I have 2 Pixie-drawn decks:  The Vintage Pam fm reall and the Albano Waite.  I'm actually not a fan of the original esp the colors--that yellow--no.  But this one just works I think?  Anyway, I just made an offer on a used (like new) deck and I hope the seller will consider it lol.  I love pre-owned decks mainly bc it doesn't use up extra resources and they always come in such good condition!  So thanks for responding.

@DanielJUK You are always so kind in replying.  There are about 30 pirated decks of this specific one, maybe more on eBay!  Dodgey ole China.  Make half their living on other people's work.  Oh well.  We're on to them!  I hope you find your deck.  I can't believe what people are having to pay over there just to get a deck shipped.  I'm so sorry.

Is it appropriate here even to mention that there are pirated decks on ebay anyway ? Some people might rush off to buy them. We all know there are pirates out there - but even so...

Are you asking for reviews on pirated decks? I think such a discussion will be problematic given that this forum has rules against material that breaches copyright. Even if you’re not selling the decks, it would be promoting illegal products, basically.

Here is a thread that I think could be useful

I was TRYING to be clear that although I discovered that the cheap decks on eBay are pirated ones and WHY, I STILL didn't feel the convo was finished.

I want to know if owners of the Golden Art Nouveau Tarot are happy w them.  Is that clear now?  I certainly hope it was,

I am very happy with mine, not least because while it has a MASS of gold, the edges are not gilded - I do not LIKE gilded edges. So is AnomalyTempest, I see.

Maybe not as many people are buying decks as used to - times are hard all over. It isn't cheap anywhere at the moment, and people are pulling back - I know a few who are saying they are only allowing themselves two decks a year - things like that. But if you put "Golden Art Nouveau" in the search here (be sure to use quote marks...), there are several people using it and liking it. It's been done for deck of the week, and Rodney likes it a lot.

I think I might be in love with the Golden Art Nouveau though! I'm definitely more inclined to use it than I ever was inclined to use the Art Nouveau. Just saying....

OK so now we have official word from LoS:

Golden Art Nouveau – no exception – is printed in 2 stages. First stage is in Poland, second stage (foil) is in Italy.

The decks around 10 US$ are all FAKES. It’s kind of obvious, isn’t it? Different size, cardstock quality below every standard, different size, no foil, no booklet. There are a few options around, but basically that’s it.

They are originated illegally in China. We tried to stop them a few times, but after a very little while they reappear, through a different shell name. That they now reached ebay it means we have been at least partially successful to keep those out of amazon and other channels.

So not printed in China AT ALL. (I hadn't looked at the card size, but that's a REAL giveaway !)
