Hi all!  Happy to get started!

I was going to overlap my Sacred Days of Midsummer with my deck of the week, but I got SO MANY new decks, that I feel the need to step up my deck of the week game.

My deck this week is the Egyptian Gods Oracle Cards, which I modified by making (almost) all new keywords.  The keywords on the cards didn’t make much sense to me, so I grabbed my Egyptian Mythology book by Geraldine Pinch and got to work.  I blacked out the printed words and wrote in mine (not very pretty, but they’re there!).  Attached my list of keywords, if you’re interested.

The art is great, painted on real, homemade papyrus!  And as far as I know, authentic to the original ancient art.

So let’s see what the deck has to say for itself!

Strength:  Nut, Above

Some cards are self-evident--the sky above and the earth is below.  This deck is at a higher level than the Egyptian Tarot by the same artist because it’s more authentically Egyptian.

Weakness:  Huh, Expression

The problem was the keywords.  And now the new keywords don’t look very good, so they might work but they don’t express themselves well.

What can I learn from deck?  Sobek, Endings

Maybe I’ll learn more about crocodiles?  I was way too tickled to learn that there was an ancient city in Egypt named Krocodilopolis!  The deck will teach me how to gently release what needs to be released.  Hmmm, I’ll have to wait and see on that.

Outcome of our work together:  Amon-Ra, Leadership

This might be the first of many decks that I modify?  I’ll take more responsibility for making my cards say what I want them to say.

Well, we’ll see how it all goes this week!

This week I'll be using Songs for the Journey Home, a deck and book set created and self-published by Catherine Cook and Dwariko von Sommaruga. I'll also be using the Raven Cards, an oracle created by Gabi Bucker and published by AG Muller. Today's draws are Earth Innocence (Page of Pentacles) and "Let yourself be borne up:"

earth%20innocence.jpglet%20yourself%20be%20borne%20up_0002.jpg

The Page of Earth is a hands-on kind of gal. She wants to experience how a seed becomes a tree, how eggs hatch into baby birds, and what the owl sees from atop its perch. It's not really a sense of adventure that drives her, but her insatiable curiosity. If she can hang on to her inquisitiveness, she'll be a student of earth her entire life. The Raven's message is to cease our busyness, relax and let others be of help to us. (Psalms 91 is often invoked during times of suffering or hardship.) Yet if we are like this Page, our constant refrain might be "I want to do it." But allowing others to help us can also teach us something - courage and humility.

Asking for help is never a sign of weakness. It's one of the bravest things you can do.

Here's my Juneteenth reading:

I couldn't  manage to decide on a deck so I'll be lurking till next week. Probably the odd digital draw this week.

I'm loving the card selections. That Egyptian oracle is stunning. I recently read a novel called 'The Book of Two Ways' that had a lot about Egyptology in it and so now I'm really trying to resist the urge to attempt to learn hieroglyphics and hieratic.  Songs for the Journey home is so lovely too.

Wow, you're a braver person than I by even having that urge!  Should I encourage you to give in to it?

Here's my reading for today!

I am so sorry - I completely forgot it was time to post the new thread, and spaced it, and can't blame anything but my own brain this time.

After some thinking about this, I feel it's time I bow out of being the DOTW thread starter.    Due to my changed work schedule and situation it's become more difficult for me to keep up over the last year - and I feel I'm not able to do justice to the thread.   I haven't even had time to do my own weekly readings lately.  No health issues or family stuff going on,  just a lack of time and needing to focus my energy elsewhere.

Thanks to all of the DOTW group for being so amazing, I will miss you ALL.

Hopefully I will be back in the future, but until then, take care everyone, and much thanks to those of you who will take up the "torch".

Thank you, @VGimlet for holding the wheel for so many years! I hope that you'll pop in as a participant if you ever have time.❤️

thank you VG from me too, it was you we followed from AT, there were so many choices there for awhile.

All my decks will be sold shortly so I won't be doing deck of the week either, but choosing it as my way forward for 17 years to honor my purchases has been a real blessing, And taught me a lot about  what to buy and what not to buy 🙂

hugs to you all, Sharyn/AJ

Thank you @VGimlet ... you've been doing this for so long, it's okay to pass the torch. What a gift you've been to the community. We all move in and out of things, and that's okay. I hope we'll still see you around here.

@VGimlet, we cannot thank you enough for your dedication to DOTW! It’s just the best. I love sharing and learning with everyone each week. Sending vibes of great appreciation your way 🙂

I asked my Mary-El Tarot whether I should go to my friend V’s tonight to help him move heavy furniture. Here’s the kicker: I wasn’t invited. My friend D invited me instead. Everyone who was directly asked to help is a man. I normally have no issue with that, but something I have noticed is that I just don’t fit in the same way with these friends in recent times. It’s complicated. In fact, kind of hurts my feelings to be treated differently, but it’s a sort of growing pain. I have been understanding gender’s role in friendships a little differently recently. For example, just because I feel close with my male friends does not mean that they seem to respect my friendship in the same way.

I would be excited to go, but I’m going to see my SO over the weekend and have a lot to do myself, including studies and taking care of my two pets. So I do have reasons other than my anxieties to stay behind.

I am interpreting these cards (all majors!) to mean, “Hard pass—stay home and take care of your business!” But I can’t help but wonder if the Devil is telling me to get the better of myself, get over myself; and if the Hierophant’s smothering is for naught.

Card 11 of the Oracle of Black Enchantment has me thinking it’s time to stay in 😉

Feel free to let me know what you see!

@Rachelcat you haven't said if you Deck of Week Journal is an open journal or not so I didn't want to comment in there, but the dung beetle uses it's ball of dung to keep cool. Maybe there is advice for you to stay cool and hydrated! I don't know about how it is where you are, but it's dangerously hot here.
