All day today, when I go to "new activity", I get this:

At first I thought something was updating - fine - but it's been HOURS now. Is it a glitch ?

The forum software was updated today and it's a large forum, so I don't know how long it will take. 🙂

As you see, there's a buttload of stuff going on in the background ❤️ Hopefully done tomorrow!

Fair enough - as long as you';re aware and all is well ! Thank you.

Just popping back to say a friend of mine is finding the forum SO slow with the update that they cannot even read PMs. I'm lucky to have a beast of a computer, but otters may not. Is there any word on this ? The blue "still working" bar is still up there.

ETA this is what happens when they try.

I believe the background running forum processes should not affect usability of the forum, if the forum gets more busy, it will slow down the processes,

The blue bar is a warning that if you search or use the activity streams, some results could be missing if they are being indexed at that very moment. Hopefully it be completed very soon 🙂

I was having very slow pages on the forum a week ago (before the software upgrade) and clearing my history and cache made such a difference! I also had a add on, on firefox for banking which seems to be slowing down pages.

@gregory I have a very basic, old, and slow laptop and haven't experienced any slow downs with the forum so far. There may be something else going own on their end, perhaps with their internet service, so I have to agree with @DanielJUK here.

It's actually faster with more forum activity, but since we aren't super full I moved the process to another server. There should not be any interruptions no matter what. 🙂

The forum is huge though, we may see the bar all week. I've been monitoring it.

I clear my cache regularly, and I'm not having that bad a time. But my friend... on a modern phone...... It seems they can see their messages at this moment; we shall see.

Thanks for monitoring, @Little Fang

It's really worth them clearing the cache and history of the mobile phone browser they use here. If they can say what phone operating software and browser they use, I'll post instructions 😀

It suddenly behaved - they said it was not cache related, but didn't say what they had found !

I did not want to start a new thread...

I notice there is a new little pop up add for Little Fang at the bottom of of some of my opening posts. I don't really mind it so much, but it is new.

1. I'm wondering if this is permanent (I am a subscriber so I'm unsure if it should be there and/or if other subscribers are seeing it). And 2. I'm  wondering if this is symptom of the upgrade and if it will go away once it is completed.

Thank you, the wrong selection was checked on that reader ad. 🙂 Should be fixed and in the right places.

It's gone now. Thank you for the quick fix 🙂

The activity glitch is at it again. In case you didn't know.

I am getting this since yesterday. Is it perhaps an update that’s processing? 🙂

WELL - it's not working right - at the top I get this

, and immediately below it, this - which makes it look as though almost all activity was a load of new members and follows....

- so I can't easily find the threads I was reading yesterday.... That's not normal, nor is the everlasting "processing" message....

Please don't worry everyone, everything is fine and we are aware of everything ❤️

@Little Fang posted before that she was upgrading some of the software of the forum and database software, still there are some updates and upgrades so we are fully up to date for the future.

Things have been updated and so we have to migrate everything to the latest releases. It will be much smoother in future now 🙂

A lot has been going on behind the scenes for the past few days and please be patience and bear with us, things might go a little weird but it will all settle down back to normal.

The core parts of the forum are working fine and no threads are deleted or missing, You can go to the main index and the sections to find all threads

As part of the software updates, the search database has to refresh itself and rebuild, so that is why the blue bar is back. It also handles the activity streams and that is why it lost all posts and is it rebuilding and adding more every hour! It has to index every single post and thread.

Nothing has gone wrong, LF is just migrating everything to be up to date 🙂

In a few days, everything should be back to normal we promise, just bear with us with any oddities, whilst everything gets up to date in the databases ❤️
