I really like decks where the suits are connected in some way like that. There's a deck I want where each suit laid out in order makes one long picture. There is likely more than one but I'm thinking of particular one.

I loved this Six of Cups so much, I wanted to share it (and my reading) with y'all.

From the Stone Tarot, the Six of Cups; from the Buddhist Quote Cards, a verse from the second chapter of the Dhammapada:

six%20of%20cups.jpg   5_0002.jpg

Stone's Six of Cups illustrates the way we integrate past memories into the present. If you speak to anyone for an hour or so, it soon become obvious which memories they carry in their consciousness. Some cups are full of loss and grief, pain and suffering; others are full of joy and wonder, challenges met and insights gained. It's not that we should try to forget the painful ones and only remember the joyful times.  But a negative bias (a function of evolution) can affect our outlook in detrimental ways. It takes effort to relive happy moments, remembering when our hearts were warmly touched, but it helps us to live lightly instead of trudging through life. In fact, it is a practice. As the Dhammapada states:

Through effort, vigilance, restraint, and self-control,
the wise person can become an island no flood will overwhelm.

I've always been fond of this pentacles card. It's tangible, a positive reminder. I'm still torn as to which deck to bring to a faire I am reading at in November. I like the darkness of light images more, but I'm running out of time to study a few evasive card meanings. Those keywords are a good jumping point, but I think most sitters will like the DoL better.

Note: I will definitely also have my Thoth, and probably use that for at least half the querents. I can tell, upon saying hello, who is meant for an RWS style.

@Bodhiseed Those cards flow so well together visually. All the same colors and everything.

@Wyrdkiss I don't envy you the choice. I left home with like 30 decks because I couldn't even choose one to leave behind. 🤣 I'm not even planning on reading for anyone else. They are just all my preciouses.

If I was your querent, I'd choose the Darkness of Light! 😊

They almost seem as if they were made as a pair! 😊

Thank you Bodhiseed. Yes, it is by far more visually interesting and appealing to most. I decided I am going to bring both of these RWS variants to the event. Should I have trouble due to fatigue by hour 3 or 4, I can switch to the keyworded pack for a bit of support.

I'm enjoying working with the Mother Mary Oracle this week.  I've been using her for quick one card draws before bedtime but today I decided to make good on my intention of doing a larger spread with her.  I decided to try out the one given in the Guidebook and she has given me a lot to think about.  The cards were far more insightful and accurate than I actually expected it to me.  It was very relevant to where I am right now and this deck has definitely gone up in my estimation!  I think this deck will be most useful for readings on spiritual matters, but I intend to try simpler layout with a more material every day focus next and see what it comes up with!

Anyway, here's the larger reading that I posted in my journal.

Man, I just stared at those cards for bit. They are beautiful. Then I read your interpretations. The parable of the rose brought tears to my eyes. I even read it aloud to my mom.

I know!  Honestly, I'd forgotten how much I just love to look at these cards.

♥️ Yeah. Alana has a powerful way with words in this deck.  There are a number of lovely passages like that in there.

I'm so happy I've joined the Deck of the Week group, it's giving me three motivation to connect with decks I haven't used for ages, like this one, and remember what I love most about it.

@stephanelli I wanted to read the description of the card that others mentioned, but could not find it in your long thread of journal entries.

I broke out my personal copy of Darkness to Light this evening. This is first edition, with a black border. The current edition ( 4th ) has returned to black. I'm seriously considering getting a black bordered for my client readings -- I think it looks much better than the white.

Here's a few cards laid over or next to the Deck of the Bastard equivalent.

I've made an entry on my journal using the Baroque deck

This is an amazing deck to work with. The quality of the cards is so much better than mass produced decks so I am feeling really connected to the cards. They have a gilt edge to them and there is a lot of gilt detailing in the cards (the titles are gilt) and the back of the cards. They shuffle so easily and smoothly too. And I love, love love the images. They look like watercolours, and the detail is superb. There is such a depth to them and though they are not 'photo-realistic' the characters are so well portrayed that you can imagine that they really lived during the Baroque era.

I can't recommend this deck highly enough 🙂

Hi, all!  I'm catching up again, as usual.  Work is seriously getting in the way of cards!  How dare it!

Such lovely readings from everyone this week!  Here are some more mythic cats and hexcore spreads to check out!

It is a lovely deck and very solid quality. It did not connect well with me, reason unknown.   And we have similar tastes -- I have a reading cloth from that Etsy seller!

The cloth and deck are from the same place, La Muci Designs. There's a new Kickstarter deck from her that I have decided to get called Dark Reflections.

Here's yesterday's reading today!

I'll be back soon with the last reading for this deck.  For a while at least.

And here's today's!  See you tomorrow in next week's thread!

I was tempted by it Michael but I'm overloaded with decks at the moment. When it finally arrives, will you post some good pics of it in action?

Here are my daily cards for the week using the Baroque deck.

Definitely a Swords week - four of them, and I have been 'stalked' by the King of Swords this week in different readings (he was my final daily card this morning).

I have really loved working with this deck so can recommend it highly. Though so far I haven't had a deck not speak to me - it must mean that I am somehow choosing them well.
