Scarlet Woodland Posted December 2, 2022 Posted December 2, 2022 Thanks @fire cat pickles. I'm in with Poppy Palin's Everyday Enchantments Tarot and Tarot of the Abyss, when it arrives.
Teemu Posted December 2, 2022 Posted December 2, 2022 Hi, I just picked my Quantum Tarot 2.0. Hope to do at least one reading.
fire cat pickles Posted December 2, 2022 Author Posted December 2, 2022 Welcome back @Scarlet Woodland! Welcome to the group @Teemu 😀
Guest Posted December 3, 2022 Posted December 3, 2022 First time I'll join this. My deck would be the Tarot Vintage.
Scarlet Woodland Posted December 3, 2022 Posted December 3, 2022 Correction: Everyday Enchantment Tarot. I keep adding a plural for some reason. I trimmed it this evening, having realised there's just no way I can shuffle this behemoth properly, with the borders on. Even trimmed I'll have to shuffle it lengthways. Might juuuust be able to riffle it. Fingers crossed. Made a couple rather large boo boos, trying trimming with a little paper cutter instead of my trusty scissors. The ruler slipped on me twice and I scored the card really deeply at one end, on the wonk. Thankfully I had some invisible(ish), nail repair stickers that my old colleague gave me, which have stabilised the scores without affecting the shuffle at all. Whew! That was stressful. Going to round the corners at work tomorrow if I get some nice, quiet spells. Haven't decided on an edging colour yet. Have seen people edge each suit a different colour to match the borders, which looks great. I don't want to see what's coming though so will prob pick up a colour from the backing. So looking forward to this deck being properly usable 😁.
FindYourSovereignty Posted December 3, 2022 Posted December 3, 2022 I’m in. Thank you! Reading with The Ship of Fools.
Bodhiseed Posted December 3, 2022 Posted December 3, 2022 Welcome to the DoW group, @Akhilleus and @Teemu! ❤️ I'm in beginning Sunday with the Wheel of Change Tarot paired with the Oracle of the Dreamtime. You are much appreciated, Fire Cat! 💚
Guest Posted December 3, 2022 Posted December 3, 2022 Thank you! I'll post my general reading on the upcoming week after I draw the cards on Monday, though I should probably create my journal thread before then.
FindYourSovereignty Posted December 3, 2022 Posted December 3, 2022 (edited) Deck: Ship of Fools Deck interview spread: 1. Tell me about your energy. Four of Swords In this card there are a group of fools (thieves, bandits? Tax collectors?) that attack and threaten another fool traveling along the hilly path. Is the fool on the ground holding the hoofed livestock with the attackers or the attacked? Behind the struggle is a cow standing in front of an ornate cross along the path, maybe a representation of dying for a worthy cause? Dying at the cost of the crown? The two animals and the fool on the ground are watching the scene unfold as these fools fight over the livestock. The energy of this deck invites me to consider, What am I willing to die for? What have I worked hard on to nurture and grow that others want to take from me and are willing to die for? Where in my life do I feel threatened or vulnerable? Who has, physical or emotional, control over me and my possessions? My destiny? 2. What are your strengths? Four of Staves A fool and a young dandy face each other, yet the fool is looking down to the ground and the dandy is looking straight at the fool. Both are carrying streams of banners flowing over their heads in celebration or union of some kind. The uneven ground below their feet has the fool looking off-center, a bit wobbly, easily could be pushed over while the well-dressed dandy stands tall, exuding strength and confidence. The deck’s strengths working with me, are showing strong opposites, the duality we experience in every day life situations, and how duality can be brought together for a more stable, balanced, and strong outcome. Where am I off-center? Where am I standing strong? How do I bring balance to these opposites? This deck will show me these situations for me to make the changes I need to make. 3. What will I learn from you? The Empress Under a tent of fool’s, a group of elderly, the young, and the downtrodden are chained together, tethered to the Empress, or are they being visited by the Empress? She holds the chain in her right hand and holds her left hand up towards the old man in a gesture of stop, wait your turn. Is she hear to listen to their pleas, their needs? To release the chain? To keep them attached to her because this is how she values herself, maintains power? This card represents the attachment one creates, at any age, to the person that nurtures them and the power that person has to keep them chained or to set them free. I will learn to see where I am nurturing others and the chains that need to be broken. Am I holding someone back or releasing them to fend for themselves? Providing for others is a form of control often defined as protection or someone deciding they know better, or their way is the right way. Inspiring others to thrive is very different than sheltering people from their personal life experiences. I will also learn how I am nurturing, or not nurturing, myself. 4. What can I do to keep our communication clear? Page of Cups A fool stands in a marsh of cattails, feet sunk into the ground, cup in his left hand and pointing straight ahead with his right. Before him is a winding path and along this path, to his right, is a sign with a crucifix and a hand pointing down the path toward a grove of trees. Past the grove of trees are hills and mountains. Right in front of him and to the left is the path which aims the fool right to walking into the sitter. To keep our communication clear, I can keep learning and aiming for what I believe, for my truth, for what fills my cup. Consistently follow my own path, question where others are pointing, and go in a different direction; take the path into my heart. It will be more rewarding. 5. What else do I need to know about you? Five of Cups In a valley surrounded by mountains, a fool with a yoke around his neck, dirty, wearing torn and tattered clothing, one foot bare and the other with bare toes, enters the barnyard. He approaches four troughs, three upright and one askew with the food falling onto the ground. His own cup, attached to his hip, is empty. The farm animals enjoying their meal are protected by the barn wall. I need to know that this deck could come across as kind of depressing, showing me areas where I may not be getting out of my own way, may not be recognizing all the possibilities available to me. Where do I allow myself to stay stuck, battered down, and disheveled? Where can I turn to embrace the other doors right here waiting for me to walk right through? When will I recognize I deserve better? This deck is going to run me through the ringer of self-discovery and change. It will show me the areas where my beliefs are holding me back and this awareness will empower me through this change. Scarlet Woodland Posted December 3, 2022 Posted December 3, 2022 (edited) Well it's far from my greatest trim and edge job but I'm happy with it. Flirted with edging it golden yellow, like the box, or a deep lilac-y colour that pops up in almost every card and on the backing but went with my first instinct of green, in the end. The deck feels more earthy than sunny or mystical to me, so green feels right. Used a Promarker in "Lush Green". I can still barely shuffle it as the cardstock's so grippy that it shuffles in clumps 🙄 (initially typo-d it "cardstick" and honestly yeah). It seems to cut fine though so will just have to shuffle and cut for each card, like I do with my other bad shufflers. Grrr hmmph. Maybe it'll break in a bit over time. Pulled the 10 of wands for work again today. In the traditional sense this time, rather than the weirdly specific lenormand-y sense 😅. Edited December 3, 2022 by Scarlet Woodland
Teemu Posted December 3, 2022 Posted December 3, 2022 Reading: "French Cross" with Quantum Tarot V2.0 3 6 1 5 2 4 Position 1: the positive aspects: Swords-2 Position 2: negative aspects: Swords-Queen Position 3: how to deal with and judge the question: Pentacles-7 Position 4: outcome, following the advice of 3: Cups-8 Position 5: synthesis: 21 World Position 6: long term consequences: Pentacles-9 The Quantum 2 Tarot has an RWS background but blends in astronomy and quantum physics. The booklet gives a specific question for each card, so one can say you get more hints. Now let us see, I just wanted a quick look into my future. Now for the name of the cards in the deck and shortened descriptions. 1: Dark matter: "You cannot see the whole picture" 2: Cassiopeia: "Wisdom gained by hard experience" 3: Quarks: "My resources" 4: Nuclear decay: "What you leave behind" 5: Theory of everything: "Embracing infinity" 6: Quasar: "Success and maturity" Naturally, I cannot see everything (card 1), as I can only judge by communication and behaviour of the people around me. And yes, I think often that this is a good thing. The next card say I am prejudiced by my experiences. Small wonder, habits learned the hard way are difficult to break. But it seems I have the resources to overcome the current situation (card 3), but I will or have to leave something behind (card 4). The synthesis (card 5) is the whole world, in this special deck, infinity. Now that seems to be a big thing , even more with the prospect of card 6, success and maturity. Although this deck looks rather scientific, I feel it connects very much with spirituality and devlopment of mind. So perhaps the advice is to put more effort into my Zen practice.
Scarlet Woodland Posted December 4, 2022 Posted December 4, 2022 I've been taking my time getting to know the Everyday Enchantment Tarot's cards and the guidebook today. It's been really tough, reading what she wrote for the more painful cards, knowing some of what she went through in her last years. Unimaginable to be honest.

FindYourSovereignty Posted December 4, 2022 Posted December 4, 2022 (edited) Get to know my deck Spread by Mary Greer Ship of Fools album (instrumental) What do I most need to be aware of: 1. An area of focus, general atmosphere or the overall energy at play. Ace of Cups Emotional day ahead - the wind of change is blowing and, if I pay attention and keep my boundaries up, I will be alert, observe, and recognize what my heart wants. No need to drown in my emotions today. 2. This is the part of myself that is most active and of which I need to be most aware. King of Staves Kings have their trusted advisors, or are they? Whose voice is trying to sweet talk me or sway me into their perspective? Their interests? Take me off of my throne? Is this a person in the flesh, someone beyond the veil, my ego, or… ? Pay attention to the ideas that come to me and where they are coming from. Be sure they align with my truth and my beliefs and that I am not swayed by others. 3. This is the situation that the part of myself (Court Card above) is concerned with today. Two of Coins Choices, choices everywhere, which way do I go? Which one do I make? How do I balance them all? Reminder: Not making a choice is still a choice. 4. This shows why I need to be aware. The Tower The Divine Will of God is coming in to save me from myself. To get me unstuck and transform the situation I’ve put myself in. Embrace the changes that are surely coming as the gift of change brings unexpected opportunities. Be alert to new emotions coming in and celebrate the shift I am experiencing. Be aware of any effort to take me off balance and bring myself back into alignment. This change is destined and I am ready to receive it. Numerology = 19 The Sun and 10 = The Wheel of Fortune and 1 = The Montebank Edited December 4, 2022 by FindYourSovereignty Add photo
Bodhiseed Posted December 4, 2022 Posted December 4, 2022 This week I'll be using the Wheel of Change Tarot, a deck and book set created by Alexandra Genetti and published by Inner Traditions. The second deck I'll be drawing from is the Oracle of the Dreamtime, a compilation of Australian Aboriginal art and Dreamings by Donni Hakanson; this deck and book set was published by Journey Editions. Today's cards are the Prince (Knight) of Cups and Gray Owl: Genetti suggests the Knight/Prince of Cups represents a journey into the complex realm of human relationships. Like the food and supplies carried in his boat, we each carry lessons learned from close friends and family when we move beyond our circle of origin. Some of that wisdom may serve us well, while other bits may end up as flotsam and jetsam in our new environment. Gray Owl tells the story of a gentle man with no skills in hunting or fighting, but who did have extremely keen hearing. This trait saved his tribe on many occasions, so when he died, they performed a sacred ceremony in his honor that night. As the smoke from the fire billowed up, they heard a loud call and saw his spirit rise as an owl, warning his people of an attack. The Gray Owl implies that we need to be alert rather than careless. And some of the wisdom from our elders that we tossed overboard might be more useful than we thought.

Rachelcat Posted December 4, 2022 Posted December 4, 2022 (edited) Wow, a great crew! Hi, everyone! I’ll be using Little Wizard Tarot by Push Kitty this week. It’s Harry Potter deck done in a big-eyed cartoon style. Nice magnetic box, edged in matte purple. There’s no booklet or extra info, just a nice note on the inside of the box and a title card. The backs feature dementors wearing Gryffindor scarves. Odd that. I think I’ve identified all the characters and scenes in the cards. If I goof up, let me know! (Something has happened to my camera settings and everything looks fuzzy. Sorry! I’m trying to figure it out, but . . .) Interview time! Most important characteristic: Knight of Cups Ron as the chess knight. Ron was definitely someone ruled by his emotions. Which made him a faithful friend, but a flawed one when he ran away from the quest. The deck is something you either love or hate. Love it for nostalgia’s sake. Strength: Three of Swords The diary horcrux. Although the deck is mostly a feel-good collection of characters and incidents, it doesn’t shy away from the negatives and challenges of the story. Weakness: Page of Wands Neville taking the Sword of Gryffindor from the sorting hat. I think Neville had the greatest learning arc in the series. By the time he gets the sword in the battle of Hogwarts, he knows who he is, what he cares about, and his own strengths. As a weakness, the deck isn’t very scholarly or academic. It’s kind of an interim, first impression take on the series. What I can learn from deck: Six of Wands Harry and the tri-wizard cup and Victor and the goblet of fire. This shows that winning can be complicated concept. Victor caught the snitch in the world cup, but his team still lost. Harry got the tri-wizard cup, but it led to death and the certainty of bad times ahead. How I can learn it: King of Pentacles Olivander and his wand shop, appropriate for this card, a business owner of a very stable business. I can learn about the pros and cons of competing and winning by staying grounded. Stay evidence-based, what’s really happening in the situation. Outcome of our work together: Ace of Pentacles The crying mandrake! Very earth! It has to stay in dirt for its benefit and for ours (so we don’t hear it!). It was also a healing medicine for people (and cat) petrified by the basilisk. I will value the deck as a nice artifact and a new and different (ace) take on the Harry Potter world. I’m enjoying it so far! See you later for more! (I’m also going to post yesterday’s and today’s moon readings in my journal thread shortly.) Edited December 4, 2022 by Rachelcat Better pics!

Scarlet Woodland Posted December 4, 2022 Posted December 4, 2022 (edited) That is a super cute deck @Rachelcat Did a major shuffle, dealing into seven piles, overhand shuffled (badly), riffled (even more terribly) and then decided to start with a little, improvised, getting to know you spread. Your strengths as a deck - Nine Of Coins This is a gorgeous card, I love Poppy's cats. I see this as the deck being a perfect, self contained system. It's rich, grounded and also beautiful. It has everything I need. Your weaknesses as a deck - Eight Of Blades I love this representation of the eight of swords. To me, this says that trying to read this deck in a fully traditional, rider waite reading style, would be limiting, stifling and wouldn't allow me the freedom to access all it has to offer. It wants to breathe and be free. Where is the balance point - The Hermit Kitty and doggo and owl! This might be one of my favourite hermit cards. Yes, I need to sit with the cards, study the images, and journey inward to reveal what they have to tell me. This isn't a quickfire answers deck, I need to journey with these cards. The best of our relationship - The Emperor Yeah I love this one too. Hard not to gush over every card. I'm turning to "the story" for The Emperor from the guidebook, for this one, as it puts it better than I can: "... With me, what you see is what you get - I'm the real deal. You may find me to-the-point, but that's because you're used to hearing men in dark suits obfuscate while they smile with their mouths, not their eyes. I do my work vigorously and rigorously, with pride, and I expect the same of others, so be prepared to give your all......... Will you benefit from my magnanimous patronage? All I ask is your unwavering allegiance in return for my own. Do you want to shake on it?" What we'll need to work on in our relationship - Nine Of Wands There's two ways this could be leading. One is persistence and resolve when things get difficult. Not throwing in the towel when the message is hard to hear or tricky to interpret. The other is more literal. This deck is actually injured (on one card, thanks to me) and I'm going to need to keep on top of the repair job and/or improve it. Should I refer to your guidebook in readings for a while - Six Of Blades Nope. Once it no longer serves me, I need to cast it aside and move on into uncharted territory. I will keep going back to it for this week, while I get to know her perspective on the cards but after that, it's time to move forward. Should I read you more intuitively/visually - Death Ah another beautiful representation. In Poppy's death card, the grandmother has sensed that her time to pass is coming and takes her grandchild into the woods, to best explain the natural cycles of life, death and rebirth to her. The grandmother's youthful, own spirit looks on. Free. Yes. The crows flying in this card really bring home the journeying here, the third seems to wait for the old lady, calling her to join them. yep, I love this deck 😊 Edited December 4, 2022 by Scarlet Woodland
