fire cat pickles Posted December 23, 2022 Posted December 23, 2022 (edited) A thread for those who would like to work through their collection of decks, participants choose decks from their collections to work with for the week. Some use one deck, some use two. Some combine methods: Tarot, non-tarot (e.g. oracle), playing cards, or any other divinatory method is welcome. All we ask is that you use at least one tarot or oracle deck. No collection is too large or too small. The only rules we have are the Tarot, Tea & Me Rules; be respectful of one other. Please join us! You can drop in and out at anytime—reality and life permitting. New to tarot? Long time reader? Come on in. Please post with your chosen deck for the week. Chat away about your deck, how you're finding it (or not), etc., it's all up to you. Participants may either choose to share their readings here in this discussion thread or opt to have their own journal in the Journals Forum and link it here. fire cat pickles Posted December 23, 2022 Author Posted December 23, 2022 Back to the Viéville this week since last week was a no-go (got highacked by Zombies 😎). It is still sitting out. I should have a lot more time after Sunday!
Scarlet Woodland Posted December 23, 2022 Posted December 23, 2022 Thanks for another week @fire cat pickles. I won't have my decks with me for a couple days but from the 26th I'll be working with the Soul Cats Tarot and the Watercolor RWS (by Tarot Cards Dark Forest on Etsy)
Bodhiseed Posted December 23, 2022 Posted December 23, 2022 I'll be using the Anna K Tarot paired with the Meditation Cards this coming week. @fire cat pickles, I appreciate you keeping the DoW group rolling along this year.❤️ Whatever festival of light you celebrate, I hope the DoWers have a joyful one!
Guest Posted December 23, 2022 Posted December 23, 2022 I will be joining again with the Kabbalistic Visions Tarot.
Misterei Posted December 24, 2022 Posted December 24, 2022 Sign me up for Valenza's Triunfi Della Luna. It's been a strange and dark coupla weeks
fire cat pickles Posted December 24, 2022 Author Posted December 24, 2022 Welcome back @Scarlet Woodland @Bodhiseed @Akhilleus and @Misterei!
MichaelH Posted December 24, 2022 Posted December 24, 2022 I'm going to sign up for this and use the Guardian of the Night tarot.
Guest Posted December 24, 2022 Posted December 24, 2022 I've been posting my daily draws with the Kabbalistic Visions Tarot for my Sacred Days of Yule reading in my journal. My posts starting with the 24th can be found HERE.
Rachelcat Posted December 24, 2022 Posted December 24, 2022 Happy solstice and all holidays, everyone! My deck this week will be a repeat, the Tarot de Paris. (I used it as a deck of the week once in 2020 and once in 2021.) The title card says “This Tarot pack was made in Paris, in the first half of the 17th century. Now kept in the Bibliotheque Nationale in Paris, it is the earliest known example of the complete pack.” (I have “about 1650” on my collection list, but I’m not sure where I got that date now.) There is a LWB in French. The deck I have was published by Grimaud in 1984. It was new old stock, in other words, a stash of 1984 decks was found in the 2000s, and I grabbed one then. It’s a fun, quirky Marseilles deck with sometimes difficult to make out majors, scimitar-like swords, and club-like batons. Several pip cards have “Facit a Paris par” with the rest left blank, so it’s possible it was designed for several different printers to use. Thus the name; no further printer information is on the cards! On to the interview! How do you feel about me using you as the deck for the Sacred Days of Yule and the last week of 2022? Most important characteristic: 9 d’Espee I’m the only one who will find this deck informative or understandable (9=individual, swords=ideas). Strength: 10 de Deniers The deck’s existence makes the tarot world and tarot lovers (10=group) richer (deniers). Weakness: 7 de Coupes It’s not good for emotional or relationship readings (7=Venus, coupes=emotions). What can you teach me? Le Chariot The deck can teach me how to move forward spiritually and emotionally. Perhaps victoriously. How can I learn it? 8 de Baston Once I understand (8=Mercury) how to go forward, it will happen (baston=energy) quickly! Outcome of our work together this week: Roy d’Espee I will re-master (roy) the art of reading (espee) with pips decks! Sounds good to me! I look forward to it! And now on to my Sacred Days of Yule card!
Bodhiseed Posted December 24, 2022 Posted December 24, 2022 @fire cat pickles, what book do you use for the Sabian Symbols (or maybe it's an online website)?

There are several I've looked at, but I like this one the most: https://sabiansymbols.com/symbols/ Their (her?) meanings seem to be the most down to earth, applicable and useful. In my journal, I'm using this one too but Rudyar's descriptions are very difficult to follow! https://www.jamesburgess.com/sabian-symbols.html

I think she's got a ebook now (and maybe a new printed one).
Misterei Posted December 24, 2022 Posted December 24, 2022 French Cross with Triunfi Della Luna This is one of the FEW decks where the artist changes the imagery ... and thus changes the meaning of the card ... and I'm ok with it. 90% changing meanings is a deal breaker for me ... this is the rare exception. Shadow Work? Yeah. This deck excels. But with a nice Tarocchi old skool flair. I didn't draw a pip clarifier for #5 ... felt complete as is. Question: Will the pressures in my new job calm down? How? #1 The Way that's open = Moon + 3 coins Moon is karaka of the emotional mind. In this iteration of moon, Valenza has drawn a sleeping figure which to me dramatically changes the card meaning. I got: Emotional mind stand down. 3 coins says Work on a practical level. And work with people on a practical level/stick to the plan. Back to Moon also work on a subconscious level / dreams / meditation but don't confuse the 2 levels! #2 The way that's closed =Heirophant + 3 Swords I can't go up the food chain. I need to solve this on my own. A bit of thinking outside the box is in order. See Moon. There are the written rules and policies ... and the unwritten ones. #3 The Discussion = Priestess and page bastoni Priestess is another card that radically changes in this deck. Traditionally she holds a toral / book / scroll. In Valenza's card she stands amidst BURNING BOOKS! Yikes! But resonates 100%. Priestess BURNS my old stories about communication and creativity (Page). Yep. #4 The Jodgement = Star and King Swords Renewal, regeneration, and healing (star) as I get my mind and thoughts under control (K Swords) #5 Synthesis = Magician Mercury is my lagna lord. Favorable (thank god) I will solve things through clever, diplomatic, communication and original ideas. Inventiveness. Be on guard against manipulative communication in myself or others. Mercury communicates between heaven and earth. Gods and Mortals. Letting my higher mind guide my communication. Use a mask when I need to. The magic trick is entertaining because people don't see how its done.

It performs a bit wonky, tho. If I enter 22 degrees it serves 23 degrees. So I had to enter one less degree to get it to serve the correct degree. Unless there is something I don't understand.

fire cat pickles Posted December 25, 2022 Author Posted December 25, 2022 This is my reading from yesterday:
Bodhiseed Posted December 25, 2022 Posted December 25, 2022 This week I'll be using the Anna K. Tarot, created and self-published by Anna Klaffinger (though now published by Llewellyn). Along with it, I'll be drawing from the Meditation Cards, a deck created and self-published by Asha Greer. All the keywords and quotes for these cards have been added by me. Today's draws are the Four of Cups and "Dividing Words from Deeds:" That is one unhappy camper sitting at a table surrounded by women trying to serve him food and drink. He might be a curmudgeon, but then again, he might simply be overwhelmed by all the excitement and enthusiasm of others. Today it is Christmas, when many folks exchange gifts and share meals (even if they're not religious). But sometimes all the joy and merriment can feel manufactured instead of sincere. That would quickly begin to feel suffocating. "Dividing Words from Deeds" seems to fit this fellow - he's shown up but won't explain how he feels. Wouldn't it be better to say 'thank you' but request some quiet time? Shaikh Abu Saeed Abil Kheir wrote, "Piousness and the path of love are two different roads." Trying to fake contentment doesn't work well, while being honest might allow others to relax and stop pretending too.
Bodhiseed Posted December 26, 2022 Posted December 26, 2022 On an old thread from Aeclectic, the rounding up is discussed a bit: https://www.tarotforum.net/threads/sabian-symbols.56790/page-2

I guess I should be gentle with introducing the deck to our newfangled ways! Here are two more days in my Sacred Days of Yule. Plus, I'm doing 12 Days of Christmas in my journal thread. So I guess Arcana Stones (a majors crystal set I created) is my secondary deck for this week!
