A thread for those who would like to work through their collection of decks, participants choose decks from their collections to work with for the week. Some use one deck, some use two. Some combine methods: Tarot, non-tarot (e.g. oracle), playing cards, or any other divinatory method is welcome. All we ask is that you use at least one tarot or oracle deck.

No collection is too large or too small. The only rules we have are the Tarot, Tea & Me Rules; be respectful of one other. Please join us!

You can drop in and out at anytime—reality and life permitting. New to tarot? Long time reader? Come on in.

  • Please post with your chosen deck for the week.
  • Chat away about your deck, how you're finding it (or not), etc., it's all up to you.
  • Participants may either choose to share their readings here in this discussion thread or opt to have their own journal in the Journals Forum and link it here.

Thanks @fire cat pickles. I didn't get much done this week (took a bit of a break after the big, seasonal readings), so will focus on just the Soul Cats Tarot this time.

I'm in again too. I missed last week but now that the new year period is over and things are settling down back to 'normal' I'll start regular deck rotation again. I'll be using the Tarot Illuminati, created by Erik C. Dunne and Kim Huggens. It's been a while since I used it.

Hi, deck of the week crew!  I look forward to seeing your decks!

I'm starting with my pairings of oracles and tarots, trying to use keywordy oracles as spread cards, or maybe as themes for readings.  This week will be Signs of the Times Oracle with Vanessa Tarot.  I think they go together with a fun, contemporary feeling.  Let’s find out!

Pairs in a regular interview:

Most important characteristics:  Flamingo, Fun; Eight Cups

The decks are about fun, even to the point of silliness.  They leave serious, spiritual topics behind.  They will help me to think (8=Mercury) about feelings (cups) in a more light-hearted way.

Strengths:  Rainbow, Hope; Temperance

Two rainbow cards!  Well, the Vanessa Temperance doesn’t have a rainbow, but it is a feature of some Temperance cards.

I love the fridge door with the child’s artwork.  A rainbow is something so amazing and yet so simple, it’s just color in the sky.  And the bartender is blending something delicious.  The decks are good at being fun and contemporary but also handle deep issues like these two traditional virtues.

Weaknesses:  Evil Eye, Protection; Ace Wands

First a picture on a fridge, now a sticker on a computer!  The decks don’t have a lot of depth when dealing with more spiritual topics like curses and pure fire energy.  But that’s ok!

What they can teach me:  Dice, Chance; The Wheel of Fortune

Wow, what a combination!  (Love the hands and feet on the wheel!)  They will teach me about randomness, chance, and that anything can happen at any time!

How I can learn it:  Infinity, Unlimited Potential; Queen Swords

I can realize that if anything can happen, then anything good can happen--with the right circumstances.  This is a traditional Queen of Swords as a widow, but for this reading, I can learn about chance and change with traditional studying (swords) but based very much on what I feel I need to know (queen).

Outcome of our work all together:  Sunflower, Action; Eight Wands

Samantha!  Hey girl!  The readings will be encouraging and inspire me to actually take action, or at least make plans (8=Mercury again!) to act.

I’m loving the art of both decks, and the appropriate pairings!  I look forward to playing with them some more!

It's the Zillich for me next week, and I'll try to keep up my journal writing 🙂

Hi @fire cat pickles

This looks like a great habit to build. Can I join in this week? I think I'll start with my Fey Tarot. I got it years ago and I've got the big book that is now out of print. It's a shame that so many tarot decks and books go out of print and are hard to find now.

I need to think about how I'll create my Journal too. I'm not sure what the best way to start that is. Maybe I'm just nervous and want it to be perfect, because I'm definitely a perfectionist.

Welcome to the group. @Drake_Winterfell!

I think you'll find setting the goal to work with the tarot every week, even if it doesn't happen exactly that way, quite satisfying. We all kind of drift in and out here. Don't get discouraged if things don't go to plan exactly. Life does get in the way. Just participate as much as you can or can't. No expectations here!

I'm late! 🐇 I've got two decks as gifts for the holidays that I'll be test driving this week: the Slavic Legends Tarot and the Urban Crow Oracle.

Thank you @fire cat pickles and welcome @Drake_Winterfell

Hi folks♥

I am back with my Sacred Hag Oracle.

As I am intensively working with just 1 card a day and following all the promptings and meditations in the book I might be with this deck for about 2 months....

Here is an example of why I do like this deck and book:DSCN0110.thumb.JPG.701555333f661833a3fdbe2d0ad6df5e.JPG

I think I will join this week.I got two Oracle decks for myself for Christmas, so I'll break out the Starseed Oracle Deck this week. I do have to interview it though! I'll start my own journal.

I'll be joining this week with the Illuminated Tarot by Caitlin Keegan, which is more of a cartomantic oracle, really. I'm excited to use it!

Thank you @fire cat pickles! I've grown to like hanging out here and peeking at how everyone is working with their decks.

Only downside is sometimes I can get a really strong hankering for someone's deck du jour (or du semaine?) and I have to rely on good ole self-control to tamp it down lol.

I did a deck interview with my Starseed Oracle. Oh my gosh, I love this deck.

This week I'll be using the Slavic Legends Tarot, an independently published deck (Taroteca Studio) by Krzysztof Wasiuk and Magdalena Kaczan (artist). I'll also be using the Urban Crow Oracle, created by Margaux Jones (aka MJ Cullinane) and published by Hay House. Today's draws are the Knight of Wands and Community:

knight%20of%20wands.jpg  community.jpg

This young man leaves a burning wake behind him everywhere he goes. The Knight of Wands channels his wild energy into change, confrontation, and often chaos. He thrives on excitement and has the charisma to lead a (usually clueless) posse of followers. He's good at challenging outdated traditions and ideas as he rides over them, waking up those who are complacent and sanctimonious. But he doesn't stick around for the clean up or to suggest an alternative for what he disparaged. The Community card is a warning that he is not an independent agent. We all need a safe place to come together, share information and rest from the stresses of the day. A place where we recognize our interconnection even if we don't always agree with one another can give us both boundaries and freedom.

The hardest thing in life to learn is which bridge to cross and which to burn.

I have a strict no bird decks policy (it's a dumb story), but I DO have my eye on the Guardian of the Night Tarot by the same artist (some birds in a deck are ok).  So I'll be watching to get a closer look at her art style.

In the meantime, here's my Sunday reading!

I get it. If there were a beautiful deck with snakes on every card, it would be a hard pass for me! I will be enjoying your readings with your two decks this week!
