A thread for those who would like to work through their collection of decks, participants choose decks from their collections to work with for the week. Some use one deck, some use two. Some combine methods: Tarot, non-tarot (e.g. oracle), playing cards, or any other divinatory method is welcome. All we ask is that you use at least one tarot or oracle deck.

No collection is too large or too small. The only rules we have are the Tarot, Tea & Me Rules; be respectful of one other. Please join us!

  • Please post with your chosen deck for the week.
  • Chat away about your deck, how you're finding it (or not), etc., it's all up to you.
  • Participants may either choose to share their readings here in this discussion thread or opt to have their own journal in the Journals Forum and link it here.
  • Yet others may even have an offline journal in paper & pencil/pen form.

Share as often, as much, or as little as you like. You can drop in and out at anytime—reality and life permitting. New to tarot? Long time reader? Come on in.

Thank you for the new thread!♥

For me it is another week with the Spiritsong Tarot.

I do love the art, but for beginners, this would not be a good deck to learn Tarot.

Other times it works well, because I am quite well versed in world folklore and Animal meanings.

Example:

the 6 of Swords is a beautiful Dragonfly called 6 of Feathers.

I remember: Tusweka, the Dragonfly was a Being too proud and self-centered.

So Great Mystery "cut her down to size" from Thunderbird size = 4 times Eagle to what she looks like now.

So she lost dearly.

But this opened up her heart and gave her compassion and patience.

I also remember the folk wisdom of using Dragonfly as a sign for / from a dearly departed, urging the recipient to remember loving memories but also to move on in life and enjoy every moment.

I decided to work with the Ethereal Visions Tarot. I bought the mass market edition four years ago and never worked with it. Maybe it feels a bit cool?

I like the art; I have a mixed bag of feelings about Art Nouveau. When it's good, it's great, but when it's not good, it's pure kitsch. I like the colouring of the deck, the use of negative space, the gate shaped elements on many cards that invite the viewer in, and the balance of male vs female figures - it's not overly girly and I'm fine with that.

I confess that I think the gold foil has been used with a heavy hand.

Let's see how it will work for me! At least my planetary reading for the whole week is a good habit and I find it grounding.

I'm in with the PetraK Tarot paired with Astrodice. Thank you Fire Cat! ❤️

I'm in again this week, working with the Arcanum Tarot with art by Renata Lechner. A very soft, beautiful deck - all the people are very pretty, so a contrast to the more realistic figures in the Queer Tarot, which I was using last week 🙂

Here's my newest reading:

This week I'll be using the PetraK Tarot, created by Petra Reiter-Köck and published by Piatnik. The oracle I'll be using this week is the AstroDice, created by Wessex Astrologer Ltd. It consists of three dice: one for Planets, one for Signs and one for Houses. From the PetraK Tarot, the Hierophant; from the Astrodice, Saturn/Capricorn/Sixth House:

hierophant.jpg  astrodice.jpg

Like the little sprout this Hierophant holds, I think we are all born with something inside that wants to grow and compels us to nurture it. Each sprout is unique to each person; some find its fertilizer in creativity, physical activities or intellectual pursuits, while others have spiritual leanings. Regardless of the path, its full development usually requires a mentor. Saturn is concerned with perseverance in the face of challenges while Capricorn encourages order and responsibility. The Sixth House refers to daily routines and habits. Together with the Hierophant, they suggest a need for commitment, patience and willingness to learn from another. Whatever we are trying to grow will require daily maintenance and care.

You don't know what your abilities are until you make a full commitment to developing them.

Hi, deck-of-the-weekers and @fire cat pickles!  I'm finally here!  Better late than never I guess.

This is my last week with the Spirit de la Lune moon daily cards.  And I’ll be pairing it with, yes, another cat deck, Into the Void: The Black Cat Tarot.  For the last quarter.  Into the void.  Toward the new moon.  Well, I thought it made sense . . .

This was a Kickstarter.  The artist/creator is Alexandra Aquilina, aka ScreenGirl Merch on Etsy.  As you see, it’s a cute cartoony deck with a limited color palette.  Edged in matte yellow.  The courts have varying collars.  The booklet gives the names of all the cats shown in the deck and features a photo of the artist’s own black cat on the last page.

A wash/swirl and interview!

Most important characteristic:  Five of Wands

The deck is more in your face and confrontational than one would think for a cute cat deck.  Get ready for that slap with claws slightly out!

Strength:  Queen of Wands

Fun to see the two queens side by side!  I love the sunflowers!  The deck is like a cat:  full of energy but sometimes cuddly.

Weakness:  Queen of Pentacles

The deck is more action oriented than practical.  When I read with it, I’ll just be like “aww,” not getting straight advice.

What can deck teach me?  The Devil

And a pair of majors!  Numerologically linked majors at that.  It can teach me that, while it’s true that some things can be bad, and even that some people do intentionally bad things, but there is good in all people, like the wings balancing out the tiny horns.

How can I learn it?  The Lovers

This enforces the two sides idea.  I like the two directional heart arrows.  Worries about bad things can be overcome with compassion and care.  Just like when my cat hurts me, she’s just a cat and can’t really do anything else.  I can’t reason with her.  And people can be like that:  lashing out because they’re hurt.  Or confused, or misled.  Hate the sin, love the sinner, I guess.

Outcome of our work together:  Two of Pentacles

More of two sides!  I like the mousey coins!  The outcome will be I’ll learn more and think more about the two-sidedness of everything and how that affects me.

Sunday, day 21

I don’t think I am or want to be in surrendering place right now, so just a general what do I need to know about surrendering?

27. Waning Gibbous, water, Surrender

Page of Swords, Three of Swords, King of Swords

Well!  The cards certainly picked up on what I was thinking!  They’re basically saying surrendering includes surrendering the feelings of helplessness and stagnation that have been holding me back!  I’m just learning (page) to go forward with life and figuring it all out, but if I let go of the hurt and the lingering manifestation of that hurt (3), I can soon master taking control (king) of what I need to figure out and act on.  Not what I was expecting but very apropos!

I love the page’s books and innocent bow.  And the king looks so decisive!  Liking the deck so far.  I seems to be living up to its interview.

I am a fan of Reneta's style -- pretty is a good word to describe it.  Looking forward to seeing more of the deck.

@Nemia I have this deck and didn't use it much. I recently used it a couple times for myself and for a client. It reads quite well for me ... but I found the size was difficult when reading for a client (I try to shuffle faster for a client). It doesn't look like a deck I could trim to make smaller. I think I would read with it more often if it were smaller and easier for my hands.

Oh yes, and I confess, I didn't really warm to this deck. I did the weekly reading but it didn't really connect to my week like the other decks did until now... where each and every card made immediate sense. I'd have to invest more work to warm it up for me... and I'll keep that in mind for the future, but for now, I'm quite happy to replace it for next week with another deck.

Well, not every deck works and this decks' time may come. It's certainly very beautiful and adheres enough to RWS to be easy to read.

Here are my daily cards for this week, using the Arcanum Tarot deck. I've been using reversals this week so have five reversed cards out of the seven. And the Devil reversed twice, so he is an important message for me. Maybe warning me about staying on the right path and not give in to pressure from others. And beware of potential addictions. The reversed Emperor may be about not having good boundaries, or maybe being too rigid. I liked having The Fool and the High Priestess though. New beginnings and develop my intuition. Not sure about the reversed Queen of Swords - a warning about being caught up in fantasy and daydreaming, and not being able to be objective.
