A thread for those who would like to work through their collection of decks, participants choose decks from their collections to work with for the week. Some use one deck, others use two or more. Some combine methods: Tarot, non-tarot (e.g. oracle), playing cards, or any other divinatory method is welcome. All we ask is that you use at least one tarot or oracle deck.

No collection is too large or too small. The only rules we have are the Tarot, Tea & Me Rules; Be respectful of one other. Please join us!

  • Please post with your choice of deck(s) for the week
  • Chat away about your deck, how you're finding it (or not), etc., it's all up to you
  • Participants may either choose to share their readings here in this discussion thread or opt to have their own journal in the Journals Forum and link it here
  • Yet others may even have an offline journal in paper & pencil/pen form

Share as often, as much, or as little as you like. You can drop in and out at anytime—reality and life permitting. New to tarot? Long time reader? Come on in!

Participants:

  1. fire cat pickles: Ghost Tarot
  2. Bodhiseed: Slow Tarot paired with the ROAR Oracle

I'll be working with the Ghost Tarot this week. Nest on my collection list were my 2nd copy RWS, but I've worked with the RWS on and off o lot lately; Neuzeit (New Age) Tarot, which for some reason I tried to work with before, and out of sequence, but didn't really like too much; and Lakota Sweat Lodge Cards that I am not interested in because they seem kind of "icky" to me. I recently worked with the Zombie deck several times with a friend who had the deck, so I won't be using my copy this go round. So, Zombie Tarot it is.

Thank you for the new thread, Fire cat!

This week I'll be using the Slow Tarot, created by Lacey Bryant and published through Modern Eden Gallery. Paired with it will be the ROAR Oracle, created and self-published by MJ Cullinane. Today's draws are Balance (Justice) and Irene Sendler:

A monk asked Yun Men, “What are the teachings of a whole lifetime?”
Yun Men said, “An appropriate response.”
~Blue Cliff Record

Bryant writes that Balance (Justice) asks us to make a measured and deliberate response, understanding that the effects of our response will reverberate with external consequences. Our reactions are usually self-oriented to what we like, dislike or feel indifferent toward. That means our preferences and prejudices take the driver's seat instead of mercy, fairness and objectivity. But if we set aside our opinions, wishes, and emotions, what would the appropriate response be? Irene Sendler was a nurse who saved 2500 children as a part of the Polish Underground Resistance during WWII. She hated the term 'hero,' believing that people should be helped regardless of religion or nationality. Her actions were without desire for recognition but rather motivated by love and the aspiration to do the right thing. Justice should follow suit.

One can not be just if one is not humane.

Hi!  I'm here, a day late and a dollar short!

This week I’m starting another daily scheme: I’m going to use the daily affirmations in Moon Magick: Deep Moon Messages for the coming moon month, August 16 - September 13, as subject prompts for readings. With weekly tarot decks. This week will be Heartscape Tarot. (The rest of the month will be going through my classic children’s book illustrators decks.)

As mentioned, Moon Magick: Deep Moon Messages by Stacey Demarco, Rockpool, is a mini landscape text-based deck that has daily affirmations plus affirmations for eclipse, blue moon, super moon, and micro moon and affirmations for 7 moon gods and goddesses. The backs are all different moon-based photo and fantasy art. (I don’t think the art on the backs correlates especially well with the affirmations on the front, but I might be wrong about that!)

Heartscape Tarot by Camelt Studio is a landscape deck of manga-ish art with some fantasy elements. The edges are gold with stars. There’s a link to download a brief meaning pdf. (My deck is #891, but it doesn’t say of how many in the print run.)

So we start with an interview of the Heartscape.

What is your most important characteristic?  8 of Swords

The deck breaks free from overly intellectual concepts.  It’s more based on feeling and color.

What is your greatest strength?  Justice

In fact, it’s a good balance of tradition and innovation.  The bird from the previous card is weighing the scale toward innovation!  And the weights are natural items, just as most of the subjects of the cards are.

What is your greatest weakness?  6 of Pentacles

I would say it’s not the greatest presentation or physical item, but I think it’s pretty great, so ??

What can I learn from you?  The Moon

This is the cover of the box.  In China, the man in the moon is a rabbit.

The deck can teach me to lighten up and appreciate the fantasy and surreal aspects of tarot.

How can I learn it?  The Sun

Well, that’s a fun combo!  And who doesn’t like a corgi soaking up the rays?

I can learn it by being open and honest and positive, and just enjoying.

What will be the outcome of our work together?  Knight of Pentacles

I will hold onto the deck as something different and pretty with an engaging presentation.

For my fifteenth DotW deck this year, I'd be using one that reflects different facets of Arcanum XV in each card: the Tarot of Shadows.

Posted my draws for the week here. I can't use reversals since the book expressly forbade it:
