Yola Posted August 21, 2023 Posted August 21, 2023 Hello friends, how are you? Do you usually play with the concrete meanings of each arcane? I like to create a word bank for each one of them, and exercise my ability to associate meanings to not-so-obvious events. Here are some (I use RWS): Hermit: download. Ace of Wands: like a post. 4 of Wands: Carnaval. 9 of Swords: night skincare. 10 of Swords: acupuncture. 3 of Swords: surgery. 7 of Pentacles: Christmas tree. 6 of Swords: cruise ship. 8 of Pentacles: bank payment slip, installment, financing. 8 of Cups: trekking, backpacking. Tower: home renovations Strenght: Pets Care. Any to share?

Oh how funny! “I so need this cream to work, otherwise I’ll be going under the knife, for sure” 😁 I do think this kind of exercise is fun and I agree that it can help you to look at cards in a more literal manner. Card imagery is so important, in my opinion. With that said, I think that context and intuition is even more important than pre-written keywords in an actual reading, so I wouldn’t really use such a list to aid my interpretations. I have found that card meanings shift from reading to reading. The basic foundation remain, but they take on different nuances all the time. Which is what allows them to be so on point. I did keep a tarot journal in the beginning of my tarot journey and I jotted down these type of interpretations in there. I think it might have been Rachel Pollack that inspired me to do so. I think she had some very fun and literal interpretations in her books.

When you do a daily tarot card, you sometimes really have to think out the box to make the card fit. It can be so nuanced (and so great for exploring the cards full ranges!). I once got Strength as a daily card and wondered how it would turn out. On that day, I met a dog with my dog which was really going crazy towards my old dog. Not aggressive or dangerous but really wanted to see him or play or something. I had to hold my dog tightly on a lead to control the situation. I suddenly realised that was the Strength card, it was literal! She controls or wrangles the Lion (beast) in the card and this was how it played out for me 🙂 I did laugh later on realising about it! 😂🐕
Yola Posted August 22, 2023 Author Posted August 22, 2023 Cool! Thanks so much for your contributions @Raggydoll, @DanielJUK😄 It's really fun to relate arcana to everyday events. I feel this need more and more in my oracular practice, especially for short-term consultations. I always write down new meanings. This bank of words helps me a lot to have a repertoire and think outside the box. I believe that the tarot, of course, offers substantially profound information. But it can also relate to the small details of everyday life. It is very beautiful to realize how accurate this art can be in some "small" situations. Sometimes, for example, I believe that the 3 of Swords (RWS) can only indicate the possibility of rain!!! 😝 Curious to discover similar experiences from you friends! Don't stop sharing!
