A thread for those who would like to work through their collection of decks, participants choose decks from their collections to work with for the week. Some use one deck, others use two or more. Some combine methods: Tarot, non-tarot (e.g. oracle), playing cards, or any other divinatory method is welcome. All we ask is that you use at least one tarot or oracle deck.

Thanks Fire cat! Looks like we're both using decks by Brian Williams this week. :)

This week I'll be using the Ship of Fools Tarot created by Brian Williams and published by Llewellyn. Paired with it will be the Wisdom of the Four Winds created by Barry Brailsford, illustrated by Cecilie Okada and published by StonePrint Press. Today's draws are the King of Cups and Albatross:

We need to be aware of what we are practicing in any moment. Because whatever we practice, we get better at, whether it’s the skillful or the unskillful.
―Christina Feldman

This kind and generous King appears to be offering his cup to the fool. What will he do if the fool steals the cup or throws it on the ground? Will he seek to punish him or vow never to be benevolent to commoners again? Humans are easily provoked for a number of reasons, but especially when a kindness is returned with spite or insolence. Yet this King has trained in maintaining his composure and compassion, regardless of the circumstances. He knows rage and bitterness have no beneficial results and will only destroy his equanimity. The Albatross, after spending a year riding the ocean winds, will return to his island to find his mate. In the same way, our aspirations can be our compass, returning us to our center so that we don't allow emotional drama to throw us off course.

Let my heart turn to practice.
Let practice become a path.
Let this path dissolve confusion. Let confusion become wisdom.
~Gampopa

Welcome back @Bodhiseed. It's good to see another Williams! I really do love his decks. I have the Ship of Fools as well. Since I am going down my list in order that I got them, it's not until a while until I get to it though.

Welcome back @Misterei 🙂

Deck Interview: Ancient Italian tarot

It doesn't look particularly ancient ... more like it evokes the decks of the 1800s. [edit the LWB cites the 1880 Serraville Sesia]

Printing is poor quality in some ways ... yet still an attractive deck ... but of course Italian decks are my thing };>

The backs are quite nice as card backs go.

Spoiler: I already did a reading and it read great for me ...

First Impressions: 5 of 7 cards are CUPS. Hmmm. 2 knights. 2 stalker cards [Magician and 8 cups]

1.  Energy: Describes the deck’s essence / overall vibe

8 Cups = Stable emotions and stable spirituality. The deck will give reliable messages when it comes to emotions and spirituality. This is a stalker card.

2.     Timing: Why has the deck come to me now? / Why do I feel drawn to this deck now?

Ace Cups = a new beginning in the emotional and spiritual realm. Also it's the autumn season. This deck is in sync with the seasons. LOL It's a good deck for autumn (seasonal decks thread at which I scoffed)

3.     Teaching: What can the deck teach me? What areas will it help me explore?

Stalker card #2, Magician. It's interesting to note that even the Magician holds a cup of wine in this deck. He's quite cuppy compared to other magicians. Based on the first spread [see my journal post] I will say it's teaching me to integrate mind and emotions.

4.     Challenge: How will the deck challenge me? What might I find difficult to work with?

Knight Swords = it gets straight to the point. But I must resist any temptation to rush the interpretations just b/c I feel sympatico with the deck. Even a deck that feels easy to read may have deeper messages on which I should take my time.

5.     Limits: What areas are NOT this deck's expertise? For what topics should I read a different deck?

Knight Cups. Hmm. This puzzles me. Health? Don't use the deck for health spreads? Romance? That doesn't feel right. I'm baffled. Maybe the deck DOESN'T have any limits for me. It kinda feels like its fine. Don't worry. Be Happy.

6.     Grace: In what areas will the deck and I organically connect and flow together?

9 Cups. Again with the emotions and spirituality. The 9 suggests a mature approach or the ending of cycles. This deck works best with more mature topics and a mature approach.

7.  Whisper: the deck’s message / guidance for this moment

7 Cups = I'm at an emotionally unstable place just now.

Numerology: 7,8,9 implies I'm working things through to the completion of a cycle.

Ace and magician imply the 10=1 vibe of completing and starting again. NOW is the 7.

2 Knights show the deck can help deal with changes and does well reading on changes and transitions.

Reading #2 with Ancient Italian Tarot

Tirage en Croix

I'm sharing the picture here as I think that's mostly what folks wish to see ... interpretation will be in my journal.

This deck is pretty spot on. It's a great reader right out of the box.

My stalker card, HP, rides again haha.

@Misterei, this is such a lovely deck, and I agree (from your comment in the fall thread) that it has a very autumnal feel to it.🍁
