I’ve recently started journaling again after a long time. I was trying to describe a mood I was feeling, and I thought of the 10 of Wands card. Card expressed what I was writing about and how I was feeling that day, overburdened. I think that it could be helpful for me when I’m having a certain feeling to post for my self in my entries, a card that matches my current state of mind.

Does anyone else do this?

It's certainly an idea.  Anything that gets us thinking in 'tarot' will be helpful when it comes to intuitive readings.  To think 'how am I feeling today' and picking a card that sums up that feeling is a good exercise, I reckon.

Hiya @Tom, this section of the forum is for someone to start a thread and post their daily card to record them here. There is also a Journaling section for more than just daily cards.

I think your thread is discussing a technique of your current state of mind and might be better in Tarot Talk & Technique as a discussion, I can move it if that is the case 🙂

I do that quite a lot, for example when I want to visualize a situation between people.

First, I make a sketch of the people concerned, sometimes using Post-it notes that I can move around. Then, I pick cards that represent what those people radiate, their energy.

Then, I look at the whole picture, start moving cards around and think about the picture I get.

For me, it's important to work purely intuitively and react to the cards as they appear. I hold my question or the person in my mind while going through the deck, and just take out the cards that evoke an echo.

It's a different approach but it works just as well as the usual drawing cards.

A variation of this technique is to separate the deck before I start to fine-tune the image of each person concerned.

Nancy Hendrickson's Ancestral Tarot is a great book, and I use her ideas for this technique.

Court cards stand for character, talents and personality aspects.

Majors for fate and overarching themes in their lives.

Minors for behaviour, reactions and situations in everyday life.

Thinking about the person, or looking at a picture, I go through the court cards, then majors and then minors to find the cards that characterize the person and the situation. If more than one card seems to fit, I use them and put them next to each other. If necessary or possible, I pick those that suit best.

You need a large table and some patience for it, but it's like a collage of your social and emotional environment.

I hope that was clear.

@DanielJUK I'm still really new here, please place it where you think it's best suited.  I want to start a thread about significators. Can you please point me in the right direction or I could start that discussion?

I've moved this to the Tarot Talk & Technique area and slightly changed the title to reflect the discussion at hand 🙂

@Tom This section is great for any general tarot discussions. You are welcome to start a signficator discussion here!

I literally give this [and similar practices] as "homework" in my Tarot classes. It's an excellent way to learn tarot cards' meanings with the added benefit of self-reflection.

Yup.   Some days, I pick a card that most expresses how I feel. Then I say - how would I like to feel? (if it's different from this) - and look through the deck and pick that. Lastly I say - what is the bridge to getting to the 2nd card?, and pick a 3rd card.

It's one of the little "de baggage-ing" exercises that I do.
