A thread for those who would like to work through their collection of decks, participants choose decks from their collections to work with for the week. Some use one deck, others use two or more. Some combine methods: Tarot, non-tarot (e.g. oracle), playing cards, or any other divinatory method is welcome. All we ask is that you use at least one tarot or oracle deck.

No collection is too large or too small. The only rules we have are the Tarot, Tea & Me Rules; Be respectful of one other. Please join us!

  • Please post with your choice of deck(s) for the week
  • Chat away about your deck, how you're finding it (or not), etc., it's all up to you
  • Participants may either choose to share their readings here in this discussion thread or opt to have their own journal in the Journals Forum and link it here
  • Yet others may even have an offline journal in paper & pencil/pen form

Share as often, as much, or as little as you like. You can drop in and out at anytime—reality and life permitting. New to tarot? Long time reader? Come on in!

I'm staying with the Feng Shui Tarot again week. I've ordered the guidebook, which I didn't even know it had until recently. It should be here by tomorrow.

Looking forward to seeing the Feng Shui Tarot, Fire cat. I'm in this week with the Gaian Tarot paired with the Goddess Oracle:

Lovely!  Two of my favorites!  They definitely will work and play well together!

This week will be the Seed and Sickle Oracle Deck.  It’s a 55-card deck of 53 plants plus Seed and Sickle cards, grouped into seasons.  Some are illustrations of just the plant, others have the plant and additional symbols.

The interesting thing is that it has two guidebooks, “Dawn” for starting a new project or revitalizing and “Dusk” for taking care of body and mind.  I’m not sure how that’s going to work.  I have a feeling I won’t be good at playing along and will probably read from both for each card . . .  Although it does suggest that you can use the Dusk meanings for reversed cards.  Maybe I’ll do that instead.

There are a good number of spreads to try in the booklets too.

It’s a Liminal 11 deck.  I like the presentation, but it almost seems like too much packaging.  The very sturdy outer box has a magnetic lid in the bottom.  Then an inner box slides out that contains the booklets and cards.  I’m thinking maybe the excess packaging could have been used to better protect the cards that are slightly smaller than the booklets instead of them rattling around in the same box?  (But when have I cared about boxes??!)

So I think I’ll do the reversal thing for the interview.  I’ll wash and shuffle for reversals.

Only one upright card for the Dawn booklet.  The rest from the Dusk booklet.

What is your most important characteristic?  Pimpernel reversed

The deck will help me choose the right path.

What is your strength?  Poppy reversed

It helps me move on from feelings of loss.

Your weakness?  Sickle reversed

The deck doesn’t distinguish well between harvest and winter.

What can you teach me?  Moonwort

I can learn that even though I seem weak like a little plant, I’m strong enough to destroy hard obstacles.

How can I learn it?  Bluebell reversed

By asking for help.  Not sure what that has to do with a book pierced by arrows?

What will be the outcome of our work together?  Birch reversed

The deck will help me focus on new beginnings with confidence.

Well, all very interesting, but I think what I couldn’t put into words is that using two different guidebooks could be an impediment to internalizing the meanings.  And using reversals just makes it hard to see the symbols.  Hmmm.  Gotta work on that this week.  Maybe give up on the reversals as a start.

Welcome back @Bodhiseed and @Rachelcat

I'm looking forward to looking more into the Feng Shui when I get the companion book. I honestly didn't know it even existed!

As Mary Poppins said, "A spoonful of sugar helps the medicine go down." Maybe you could pair it with another tarot or an oracle deck?

Well here I am still hanging out with the Mary-El Tarot.  I think that it's going to be a keeper even though I continue to find many of the images so unsettling.  Guidance directed me to use the deck again for my New Moon, Rosh Chodesh spread for this new lunar month.  A picture of that spread is in my blog space.

Imma re-start again since I wasn't able to read last week. My first DotW this 2024 would still be a traditional Rider Waite Smith, but this time the deck I'll use would be the copyright-less roses-and-lilies included in the Guided Tarot set. I feel like beginning the year with the grandaddeh of (almost) all the decks I'll be using for the next twelve months is just so apropos.

Thanks @fire cat pickles!

Whew @Rachelcat. The Seed and Sickle Oracle has caught my eye ever since I explored botanical decks last year. Your post reminded me of how fascinating it is. Gonna stay from them, I'm in an especially vulnerable state right now lol.
