fire cat pickles Posted June 2, 2024 Posted June 2, 2024 (edited) A unique version of Reading Circle for those who would like to work through their collection of decks, participants choose decks from their collections to work with for the week. Some use one deck, others use two or more. Some combine methods: Tarot, non-tarot (e.g. oracle), playing cards, or any other divinatory method is welcome. All we ask is that you use at least one tarot or oracle deck. No collection is too large or too small. The only rules we have are the Tarot, Tea & Me Rules; Be respectful of one other. Please join us! Please post with your choice of deck(s) for the week Chat away about your deck, how you're finding it (or not), etc., it's all up to you Participants may either choose to share their readings here in this discussion thread or opt to have their own journal in the Journals Forum and link it here Yet others may even have an offline journal in paper & pencil/pen form Share as often, as much, or as little as you like. You can drop in and out at anytime—reality and life permitting. New to tarot? Long time reader? Come on in! fire cat pickles Posted June 3, 2024 Author Posted June 3, 2024 I'm in with the DWFT again for this week. (Although there's hope the Brady Tarot will arrive from Australia sooner than expected!)
Bodhiseed Posted June 3, 2024 Posted June 3, 2024 Thanks Fire cat! I'm in with the Morgan Greer Tarot paired with the Celtic Book of the Dead. From the Morgan Greer Tarot, the King of Cups; from the Celtic Book of the Dead, Sea of Glass: Without emotional awareness, we live according to a script that we’ve never taken time to better recognize and understand. ―Bernard Golden I bet this King of Cup's chalice has a few dents and scratches; no one develops a deep understanding of emotions by trying to avoid them. He likes to explain that feelings themselves are neither good nor bad, they're just messengers. But it becomes confusing when we don't realize that one emotion can mask another - anger can cover fear or depression can cover anger. And shame can cover a host of feelings that we've been taught we're not supposed to have. The Sea of Glass was so clear, the voyagers could see the bottom of the ocean. It represents seeing through our emotions to find their root rather than impulsively reacting to them. As Mavis Mazhura said, "Emotions can get in the way or get you on the way."
Rachelcat Posted June 3, 2024 Posted June 3, 2024 Hi, everyone! Another week, another deck! This week will be (what I think of as) the companion decks to last week’s Afterlight decks, Urban Incantations Tarot and Lenormand and Zodiac Oracle. These were published last year by the same artist, Lynyrd-Jym Narciso, Paralumen Studio. These have a limited color palette, kind of black and green, with a bit of a grunge feel. The images in the tarot are in urban settings. It’s less pointillist than the Afterlight, more generally impressionist. It has a Happy Squirrel, appropriate for an urban deck! The backs remind me of The City and the City.
Rachelcat Posted June 3, 2024 Posted June 3, 2024 Separate interviews. What is your most important characteristic? Ten of Pentacles The deck is a work of art that concentrates on groups and collaboration. What is your strength? Nine of Wands It is good at showing energy levels in a this-worldly, practical way. Your weakness? Ten of Wands And it even uses clichés, like the weight of the world is on your shoulders. What can I learn from you? Seven of Wands Wow, this is more accusations of deception than actual deception. I can learn the difference between good judgment and judging others. How can I learn it? Six of Wands By taking the high ground? Doing the right thing? What will be the outcome of our work together? The Fool And here’s our major! Working with the deck will seem like journeying through a familiar yet unfamiliar world. He’s leaving the city on an adventure, maybe as he heads to another city! What is your strength? Capricorn Once again this goat fish is a fish with a goat’s head. The deck is traditional and can accomplish what it is supposed to. Your weakness? Crossroad It will tell me which path to take, but I probably won’t listen!
Bodhiseed Posted June 4, 2024 Posted June 4, 2024 Oooo... I'm liking the look of the Incantations deck, @Rachelcat! 🤩
