A unique version of Reading Circle for those who would like to work through their collection of decks, participants choose decks from their collections to work with for the week. Some use one deck, others use two or more. Some combine methods: Tarot, non-tarot (e.g. oracle), playing cards, or any other divinatory method is welcome. All we ask is that you use at least one tarot or oracle deck.

No collection is too large or too small. The only rules we have are the Tarot, Tea & Me Rules; Be respectful of one other. Please join us!

  • Please post with your choice of deck(s) for the week
  • Chat away about your deck, how you're finding it (or not), etc., it's all up to you
  • Participants may either choose to share their readings here in this discussion thread or opt to have their own journal in the Journals Forum and link it here
  • Yet others may even have an offline journal in paper & pencil/pen form

Share as often, as much, or as little as you like. You can drop in and out at anytime—reality and life permitting. New to tarot? Long time reader? Come on in!

My Brady Tarot arrived,  so I'll be trying it out this week  😀

Thank you Fire cat! My Brady Tarot came up in rotation this week, so we'll both be using it! I'll also be using the Citadel Oracle.

I see now that the circumstances of one's birth are irrelevant. It is what you do with the gift of life that determines who you are. ―Takeshi Shudo

An indigo bunting feeds a cowbird chick in the nest built for its own eggs. Cowbirds are brood parasites, laying their eggs in other birds' nests and allowing them to care for them. The indigo bunting is operating on instinct, putting food in an open mouth. While the situation looks foolish, each bird is doing the best they can in the circumstances they've found themselves. There are adult humans who still lament their childhoods, blaming their current circumstances on their past upbringing. If these folks are aware of the dysfunction and don't change, they are more bird-brained than the birds. The Botanist is a nurturer, planting seeds and providing the right environment for them to grow to maturity. We all have a responsibility to nurture ourselves - emotionally, mentally, physically, and spiritually - once we reach adulthood. There are others who can help us if we seek and ask. As Rainer Maria Rilke wrote, "Go now and do the heart-work on the images imprisoned within you."

Hi Everyone! 🙂

I will do another week with the Botanica Oculta Tarot.

-- I am still a bit flummoxed, that the creators spell "occulta" with just one c ....

Also, the mayor arcana has 2 extra cards:

The Paladin

and

Destiny

?

Are they necessary?

I will try to get to the bottom of this and report back.

I ordered the Botanica Oculta and I already got it!  Drive-by enabling accomplished!  BUT I wasn't able to spend much tarot time last week, so I'm going to do another with the Black Violet.

I also got Roll A Story dice from Staples the other day (a Story Cubes copy for children).  (Yes, I'm that much of a card nerd that whenever I'm in the office supply store, I check the flashcards just in case.) It's got ten dice, one each for people, activities, sports, animals, transportation, weather, food, feelings, items, and places.

Not sure if I can use it for divi, but I might figure out a way to use it as a spread device?  I'll let you know if that works!

Great to see everyone here and look forward to seeing your readings!

@Mi-Shell Welcome back! Maybe it's pronounced "u" as in attuned?

@Rachelcat I've used to have Story Dice and I have used them for divination! Welcome back 🙂

I would love to join. I just received a new mix-Visconti Frankenstein-ish deck that I am itching to try out. The "Personal Visconti" from Marco Benedetti.

Welcome to our little group @Penthasilia!

The DoW Group is a fun and enlightening way to share how your decks can work for others, to highlight new or unique reading techniques and spreads, and perhaps to introduce new decks for other members.

I hope you enjoy it here 🙂

Posted my thoughts on the reading in the journal section but figured I would put a picture in here so you all can see what the deck looks like. Definitely like it- it reads really well. Very happy to have found a Visconti I can read with. It is the perfect size, beautiful card stock, shuffles like a dream and is more approachable than some of the others I have tried.

I'm in for this week for the Cirque du Tarot (again!)

This is my final post re. studying the Cirque du Tarot deck.  Finally, Finally I have written my new deck interview and posted it up on my blog.  So check it out if you would like more information.

3Wands.jpeg.caf59d7967d210587b1584ac33d95c31.jpegProbably one of the reason there has been such a long lag time on this is I'm just not inspired about this deck.  I make a commitment to give almost every deck a fair shake and to do a 'New Deck Interview'.  So I read all of the documentation for this and carefully studied all of the cards one by one.

My problem with the Cirque du Tarot deck has been twofold:  I don't like circuses.  So a circus themed deck?  Maybe not.  I can barely deal with my poodles one of whom thinks that he wants to run away and join the circus.  Maybe I should give this deck to BoBo?

Two, aesthetics.  I don't like the color scheme and I don't like much of the artwork.  We are talking anathema here.  I REALLY don't like this deck.

I've made a sincere effort to get to know this deck.  I have to keep it as a working deck as my student/friend and I will continue to be using it together.  Plus, who knows?  Perhaps Guidance shall direct me to use it for some other purpose.  Never say 'never'.

Welcome back @Natural Mystic Guide! Circuses are creepy aren't they? Are they around any more? I'll have to research...

@Penthasilia, part of the problem I've had with my Visconti is the way it shuffles. Good to know this one shuffles well.

It reminds me a bit of the Vachetta from Il Meneghello- not quite as whipped cream feeling but almost. I adore it- plus being able to pick the different majors is a bonus. It is a quirky but beautiful deck.

I.jpeg.45496287f15575628c24c654a79a0290.jpegI'm ready to start in on my next 'new' deck.  Dark Goddess Tarot by Ellen Lorenzi-Prince  I acquired this deck within the year and have been reading with it.  I have not read the accompanying book page by page.  I intend to do that now here.  So far my one beef is that when I opened my deck all of the cards were stuck together.  Some of them were so bad that I had to steam them apart using a knife.  When I realized that there was a problem with this deck I had my husband video the unboxing.  I sent this with a letter to the publisher.  No response.  Others here on the forum have mentioned problems with cards that have gilt edging, as does this one, sticking together.  It's unfortunate because almost every single card is marred by white streaks where an adjoining card adhered to it in the box.

Tell me more...  Do you read with it?  If so what type of readings and spreads do you like to use for this deck?
