A unique version of Reading Circle for those who would like to work through their collection of decks, participants choose decks from their collections to work with for the week. Some use one deck, others use two or more. Some combine methods: Tarot, non-tarot (e.g. oracle), playing cards, or any other divinatory method is welcome. All we ask is that you use at least one tarot or oracle deck.

 

No collection is too large or too small. The only rules we have are the Tarot, Tea & Me Rules; Be respectful of one other. Please join us!

• Chat away about your deck, how you're finding it (or not), etc., it's all up to you 
• Participants may either choose to share their readings here in this discussion thread or opt to have their own journal in the Journals Forum and link it here
• Yet others may even have an offline journal in paper & pencil/pen form

Share as often, as much, or as little as you like. You can drop in and out at anytime—reality and life permitting. New to tarot? Long time reader? Come on in!

Humans are great spin doctors when we have a cherished idea or belief we refuse to release. We cherry pick information to back up our opinion, carefully ignoring any evidence that contradicts it. All the while we spin stories and paint pictures with our words, as we attempt to prove we are right. But avoiding the facts of reality will always bring us to rock bottom, with nowhere left to turn. Hi all!  Thanks @fire cat pickles as always!  And there's a devil for me this week, too!

 

This week will be Ghostbusters Tarot Deck, another fandom deck from Insight Editions.  Criticisms first:  Photos of the movie characters/actors are incorporated in the art, but their faces are green or purple.  And to tell the truth, the art isn’t my favorite.  The minors are an odd combination of pips and illustrations. 

 

The deck seems to be based on the first two movies.  (And maybe the early video game?  The booklet gives the name of the library ghost, which I think was only referenced in the game.)

 

The Wheel card, Slimer, attributes the four ghostbusters to the four suits:  Wands=Peter, Traps=Egon, Streams=Winston, and Marshmallows=Ray.  See my attached list of all card attributions.  There are a few spreads in the booklet.  I like the backs!

 

 

Well, let’s see what we get with an interview!

 

 

What is your most important characteristic?  The Devil

The deck is more about what’s wrong than what’s right.  Or it focuses on demons and spirits.  To our delight!

 

What is your strength?  The Wheel of Fortune

Meta:  This card is the key to the suits.  Oh, except streams and traps are switched. 

Also, as silly as it looks, it can be useful.  And, like Slimer, it’s messy but fun!

 

Your weakness?  King of Marshmallows

Ivo Shandor, the occult practitioner that made the apartment building a Gozer temple.  He created something physically powerful.

The deck is more about creating a fandom thingy than actual readings?

 

What can I learn from you?  II of Traps

I can balance my positive and negative feelings. 

 

How can I learn it?  X of Wands

By realizing sometimes it’s overwhelming, and that’s ok.

 

What will be the outcome of our work together?  VII of Streams

In Ghostbusters II, a mink coat comes to life and scampers away.

The deck will turn out to be attractive but deceptive and emotionally manipulative.  And maybe even shocking!

 

Well, that was fun!  We’ll see how it goes!

Greetings, I'll return with my Waite Smith Centennial edition thoughts this week.

I'm finally taking a deep dive into the traditional RWS deck.

This pictured here is the Waite-Smith Centennial edition, pocket version. This comes in a nice tin, although I use the pictured leather 

case for travel and storage. Easier on the edges.

 

This is a lovely version; it shuffles wonderfully, the colors are crisp, and as I've stated before you actually have a back image that doesn't look like

a cheap 1970's table cloth.

 

The spread I used is from the book provided in the Tarot Vintage (also a RWS).

it is the "Hindsight / Insight / Foresight" positions. A fun one to work with.

 

Unless you want to spring extra cash for the A.E. Waite Premium edition ( possibly even nicer than this one, I will find out soon!), this Centennial version is an ideal pack to read with.

I love this deck and recommend it to my students. I once found it on super sale and bought 10 copies of which I have two remaining and gave the rest as gifts. The remaining two are my reading deck and a back-up [just in case something happens to #1]. LOL I think this is a testament to either obsessive worry or how much I love this version of RWS. 😉
