fire cat pickles Posted July 22, 2024 Author Posted July 22, 2024 (edited) I'm moving on to the "Infernal Tarot - A 200 year old secret Tarot deck" for this week. I'll go back to the Hermetic soon, I'm sure. I thought I'd try something a little different for this week. Edited July 22, 2024 by fire cat pickles
Natural Mystic Guide Posted July 22, 2024 Posted July 22, 2024 I am continuing to play with The Ark, a combo Tarot and oracle deck by Bernadette King.
fire cat pickles Posted July 22, 2024 Author Posted July 22, 2024 Welcome back @Natural Mystic Guide 😀
Bodhiseed Posted July 22, 2024 Posted July 22, 2024 I'm in with the Out of Hand Tarot paired with the Seashells Playing Cards - thank you Fire cat! From the Out of Hand Tarot, the Moon; from the Seashells Playing Cards, the American Stiff Pen: Cognitive psychology tells us that the unaided human mind is vulnerable to many fallacies and illusions because of its reliance on its memory... ―Steven Pinker A hand holds a mirror that shows another hand holding the moon. What is real and what is illusion? Our minds have tripwires for anything in the present that even slightly resembles something or someone from our past. Once those wires have been triggered, our mind doesn't bother to register all the facts in front of us, it just fills in the blanks from our old memories. Strong emotions - good or bad - are often a hint that we are relying on unconscious information. The American Siff Pen anchors itself to the sandy seabed using a bundle of silky fibers called a byssus. This clam also can heal small holes or breaks in its shell. It suggests we ground ourselves while curiously examining what is factual and what is pure assumption. Then we can repair these 'holes' with the evidence we find.
Bodhiseed Posted July 22, 2024 Posted July 22, 2024 @Natural Mystic Guide, I've been enjoying all those lovely animal pictures on the Ark!

Rachelcat Posted July 22, 2024 Posted July 22, 2024 This week will finish off all my round decks as decks of the week with two oracles: Creature Teacher and Tea Leaf Fortune Cards. Creature Teacher is a 45-card animal deck with affirmations for children. I like it because I like animal decks and I like simple affirmations. Tea Leaf Fortune Cards has 183! main cards (with red backs) illustrating tea leaf reading symbols with keywords and phrases, which have some overlap with Lenormand and other sibillas’ symbols. It also has cards for the months (with purple backs) and “astral houses” (not astrological houses, but 6 life areas, with green backs). I created a spread for the deck using the ideas in Tea-Cup Reading and Fortune-Telling by Tea Leaves by A Highland Seer, so we’ll definitely try that out this week. I’ll probably use an affirmation as a subject and then read about it with the tea leaf cards; we’ll see. But first, interviews! What is your most important characteristic? Target, goal-oriented person The deck is goal-oriented. It openly embraces fortune-telling, as opposed to more spiritual guidance or woo. What is your strength? Flag, do not be tempted to lower your standards Same. It tells it like it is, in a fortune-telling way. Your weakness? Cobweb, protected from negative forces beyond your control It might focus too much on “forces beyond your control.” That’s the downside of fortune-telling. But that can be obviated by focusing on advice and action. What can you teach me? Crown, honor and respect will come to you It will teach me about honor and respect. And how they’re earned? How can I learn it? Sun, happiness and well-being I can learn about earning respect by concentrating on well-being for everyone. What will be the outcome of our work together? Heart, love, deep affection, caring Wow! I’ll love the deck and have affection for it. And use it more often. I’m in! Short interview for Creature Teacher: What is your strength? Snake, I am healthy. The deck’s affirmations are healthful, for children and for me. Your weakness? Skunk, I have respect for others. It’s stinky! Just kidding! Meta: It doesn’t go into detail about what respect is. Not just avoiding messing with people! What can I learn from you? Bee, I have good ideas. Also a good animal for respect meaning avoid confrontation! I can learn some good ideas from the deck. And maybe learn to value my own ideas. What will be the outcome of our work together? Unicorn, I am sacred. The only imaginary animal in the deck, as I have already obsessively classified it in my collection list. The deck will help me see the sacred in the mundane. Affirmations and advice for being a decent, even good, person are spiritual as much as they are practical. And it seems like those qualities are as rare as unicorns these days. I’ll take it as a sign of hope.

Mi-Shell Posted July 22, 2024 Posted July 22, 2024 Years and years ago I learned and then read with the New Orleans Voodoo Tarot. I was often drumming with a Haitian dances and celebrations and also for the / Afro American congregation in their rituals and so learned tot specific drum songs and patterns of the Loa/ Lwha. The after the earthquake in 2010 there was a huuuuge influx of Haitian refugees into Canada and we had quite a number of them here in our area. I was asked to help, because I knew a bit of the culture and believe systems. So I did, what I could and also did bring the NOVT in to read with them in the evenings. Needless to say, I did learn A LOT in these days.... However, I was never so quite sure about the difference between Voodoo and the Orishas of Santaria. So now, In our monthly Tarot group we do have a priestess of Santeria and my old interest got re-awaken, especially about the sincreticism between the different spiritual pathways and christian saints, the qabalah and also indigenous influences. Yes, and there I was in our local Tarot shop and saw the Tarot of the Orishas! So for me personally, I will investigate, how well the Tarot can fit with the Orishas and how this new Tarot is similar or different from the NOVT 🙂
