A unique version of Reading Circle for those who would like to work through their collection of decks, participants choose decks from their collections to work with for the week. Some use one deck, others use two or more. Some combine methods: Tarot, non-tarot (e.g. oracle), playing cards, or any other divinatory method is welcome. All we ask is that you use at least one tarot or oracle deck.

No collection is too large or too small. The only rules we have are the Tarot, Tea & Me Rules; Be respectful of one other. Please join us!

  • Please post with your choice of deck(s) for the week
  • Chat away about your deck, how you're finding it (or not), etc., it's all up to you
  • Participants may either choose to share their readings here in this discussion thread or opt to have their own journal in the Journals Forum and link it here
  • Yet others may even have an offline journal in paper & pencil/pen form

Share as often, as much, or as little as you like. You can drop in and out at anytime—reality and life permitting. New to tarot? Long time reader? Come on in!

Now that it's raining more than ever
Know that we'll still have each other
You can stand under my umbrella

—Rihanna

"Come on, get up and get moving - people are counting on you." "But I'm tired... I just want this to be over." She pokes me with her stick. "It won't get done unless you do it. Besides, you're not alone." Her cat gives me a soft bop on the nose with her paw. "While you are being a guide and support, there are others who are your umbrella in the storm. Do you see the broken infinity symbol on my arm? Just remember, nothing lasts forever."

Hi, everyone!  Thanks fire cat!  This week for me will be Yokai Tarot: The Deck of Japanese Folklore by Lo Scarabeo.  I have a few (and might have just gotten two more!) decks of mythical creatures, so I thought I’d give this one that’s specifically Japanese a try.  It looks like they’re a blend of magical creatures and people, including scary or mischievous creatures along with more positive ones.  I don’t know much, so I’ll be using the booklet a good but and probably googling too.

I like Lo Scarabeo’s new focus on nicer boxes.  Instead of having just a cap, the top for this one slides down to ¾ of the height, making it more sturdy of a closure.  I think, we’ll see.  And I think the cardstock is thicker too.

Interview time!

What is your most important characteristic?  King of Swords, Wind god

It’s a deck of learning for me.  It will teach me a lot of new information.  I can rely on it as an authority.

What is your strength?  The Wheel, Tree spirits

Seeing a tree spirit is usually a good omen, but beware of cutting down their favorite tree!

It’s a tarot, so it’s easy for me to read even though I’m unfamiliar with the topic.  It shows the good and the bad and maybe how they’re related.

Your weakness?  The Star, Baku

An imaginary critter made of spare parts that eats children’s nightmares.

Notwithstanding the Wheel, the deck might sugarcoat things to be uncouraging.

What can you teach me?  10 of Swords, Faint spirit

A sad soul appears right after death.

The deck can teach me to accept losses and move on, even if they make me sad.

How can I learn it?  Knight of Cups, One-Eyed Priest

The guardian of Lake Kamo emerges from the lake once a year to explore the land realm.

By being emotionally open to new experiences.

What will be the outcome of our work together?  The Lovers, Weaving Princess and Star Boy

Divine lovers who are allowed to meet only once a year in the Milky Way.

I won’t use the deck very often, but when I do, I’ll really connect with it.

We shall see!

I'm still hanging out with the Witches' Wisdom Tarot by Phyllis Curott and Danielle Barlow.  In addition to a benign addiction of buying Tarot and Oracle decks; I just have to keep studying to improve my professional skills.  I keep taking classes. 6Earth.jpeg.be87c02c582d946cfd32d3a247dda31c.jpeg When I complete the class I am taking with Mark Horn on Kabbalistic Tarot there will be a gap until May when I begin the 4th module of my Teacher Training in Active Dreaming with Robert Moss.  I'm thinking about taking the course that Phyllis Curott offers for learning this deck.  Usually it's easy enough for me to either just start reading right out of the box or to move through the accompanying book that comes with a new book.  This Witches' Wisdom is going to be hard to master.  Here is the 6 of Earth.
