Bodhiseed Posted September 2 Posted September 2 Thank you Fire cat! I'm in with the Albano-Waite Tarot paired with the American Pen Oracle: But if you’re stuck, you might get more entrenched in your stuckness by speaking to people who are like you, because they’ll magnify that stuckness. ― Adam Alter I always think of the Hierophant as a teacher or religious leader who draws people together based on a framework of beliefs and values. But on a lark, I looked at Kaplan's LWB that comes with this deck and found this: "Captivity to one's own ideas. Tendency to cling to ideas and principles even after they are outdated." So basically, while being part of a group with a defined creed can create a feeling of safety and comfort, it can also make us feel stuck when we need to adapt to change. Anne Lamott adds her words of wisdom: "There's a lot to be said for having really reached a bottom where you've run out of any more good ideas or plans for everybody else's behavior; or how to save and fix and rescue; or just get out of a huge mess, possibly of your own creation." It's time to step outside our clearly defined ideas, talk to some people who are different from us, and LISTEN.
Rachelcat Posted September 2 Posted September 2 Here I am! Thanks @fire cat pickles! This week will be Genoese Tarot, designed by Elettra Deganello and Jean Maillard, printed in 2022. It’s a game-playing deck, bridge sized (slightly narrower than poker size), with French (regular playing card) suits and double-ended majors and courts. (It includes cards with scoring details for 6 different card games.) The text on the cards is in Genoese, an Italian dialect (that seems similar to Portuguese to me). The cards are liberally gilded, front and back. There are 2 “o giano con doe cee” (joker) cards and a “l’invexendon” (butterfingers) card. The only ace that’s illustrated is the Ace of Hearts, which has animal outlines in gold: a fox topped by a crow topped by a griffin. I’m excited about the majors because the two ends are subtly different. (The two ends of the courts are the same.) For example, O Matto has a dog on one end and a cat on the other. The two A Guisticia figures are the same except one’s eyes are open, the other closed (same as L’Appeiso). I can’t wait to dig into reading these with reversals. (I don’t think I was ever really excited about reversals before in my life!) And I’m thrilled to see pointy (hexagonal) halos on our cardinal virtues, including O Mondo, and a broken column on A Forsa. Obviously, the creators have done some tarot historical research. Ok, let’s interview! What is your most important characteristic? 6♣ The deck is a winner. And a leader. Cocky! What is your strength? K♦ He is surrounded by his coins. It’s beautiful and well made. By accomplished artists. And it’s worth the money. Your weakness? J♣ Why does he hold up his shield with a rope? He has a bee emblem on his shirt. Sometimes it acts first and thinks later. It’s impetuous. What can you teach me? O Sô (Sun) girl end Is she joining hands with the boy? Or playing with the salamanders? It can teach me all things good and beneficial and open and honest. (But their eyes are closed. Maybe the sun is too bright?) How can I learn it? A Pappessa Her book says “barba non facit philosophum,” “a beard does not make a philosopher.” This end of the card shows the “barba non facit,” and the other end the “philosophum.” By looking deeper than the surface. Interesting pairing with the sun. I can see the light, but only if I look for it. What will be the outcome of our work together? 9♣ I might have to defend my connection with the deck, but I can easily put my energy into that if I need to. I think we’re going to get along just fine!
