Bodhiseed Posted January 19 Posted January 19 (edited) Thank you Fire cat! I'm in with the Mystical Moments Tarot paired with the Inner Eye Oracle. Posted 23 hours ago Mystical Moments Tarot, Queen of Cups; Inner Eye Oracle, Authority Figure You cannot listen to what you hear if you resist it. To listen there must be attention, and where there is resistance there is no attention. —Krishnamurti The calm flow of the ocean's seabed reflects this Queen's emotional stability. She listens intently to the seahorse she holds, undistracted by the other fish swimming by. Buddhist teacher Haemin Sunim said: "If you think you already know everything there is to know about that person, what do you do? We tend to make a judgment about that person. We stop being curious. Rather than try to understand, we think we already know. So, we don't give them time and space for them to talk. Instead, we already assume that we already know. That's not love." Yet the Authority Figure tells us we need to do more than deeply listen. Even though we might offer feedback or suggestions, it must be clear that we cannot make decisions for them. We each are responsible for the choices we make, including the outcomes of those judgments. Edited January 19 by Bodhiseed
Rachelcat Posted January 19 Posted January 19 Hi all! This week will be another historical recreation, although I think this one we can classify as a reproduction, Trzes’ Mamluk Deck. It’s a transitional form between Chinese playing cards and European Renaissance cards, created in the Mamluk sultanate in Egypt, circa 1500. (It makes sense that playing cards came from China because paper was invented in China!) There’s a slim booklet about the history of the deck and how the reproduction was done and a foldout sheet with thumbnails of the cards, including the additional cards reproduced from variant original decks. (I’m going to leave out the additional cards for readings.) I’ve classified the deck as Italian-suited playing cards because there are pips and four courts (first, second, and third deputies and kings) and no majors. Because it’s Islamic art, the courts aren’t pictures of people; they’re distinguished by Arabic text at the tops of the cards (not that I can read it!) and one, two, or three pips in the body of the cards; the kings have a fancy blue square at the bottom. The suits are polo sticks, “multitudes” (which look like cups to me!), scimitars (curved swords), and coins. The cards are very long and thin, 7.5 x 3 inches. I will be trying to read them as tarot pips with the courts as developmental (child, young person, adult, older adult?). Wish me luck! Interview time! So many swords! What is your most important characteristic? King of Scimitars The creator is an intelligent leader in art and tarot history, OR it will take an intelligent leader to understand this deck! What is your strength? 9 Scimitars Working with this deck will be a personal (9) intellectual (swords) endeavor. Or a complete nightmare! Your weakness? 5 Coins It’s a pretty object, but that doesn’t mean easy to use. What can I learn from you? 10 Scimitars Sometimes being intellectually overwhelmed is a good thing. How can I learn it? 2 Scimitars By taking a balanced approach. I can decide for myself how I’ll figure it out. What will be the outcome of our work together? 4 Polo Sticks In the end, it will actually be a calming activity for me. Not sure about that! We’ll see!
fire cat pickles Posted January 19 Author Posted January 19 Welcome back @Rachelcat! I have this deck but I have not been able to read with it yet.
Mi-Shell Posted January 20 Posted January 20 Hi guys! ♥ This will be my last week with the Förhäxa Tarot.
Bodhiseed Posted January 20 Posted January 20 4 minutes ago, Mi-Shell said: This will be my last week with the Förhäxa Tarot. Are you enjoying this deck? I love her Crow Oracle but didn't care for her tarot decks.
Mi-Shell Posted January 20 Posted January 20 Well, @Bodhiseed, THAT is the problem with me and this deck: I am not realllly happy. when this happens, I usually - and VERY subjectively and emotionaly sort through a deck: Which cards do I LOVE? Which cards do I like? Which cards are OK? Which cards are?? - tooo dark in this particular instance Which cards do I not like? which cards do I "hate" and why This is, what I did on snowy yesterday. It made things a lot clearer.
Mi-Shell Posted January 20 Posted January 20 Continuing from the previous post: Images of the deck in question - here the Förhäxa Tarot: Cards I love- concentrating foremost on the card images! There are only 2 The first one I love because i can feeeeel it with all my heart. I often sit like this meditating or in prayer under our Tree of Life out in the forest. Often one or several of our "Wild ones" come by - or I can "see" my Animal or Clan Guardians in the trance..... That it happens to be the hierophant is a bonus. 🙂 The second one is very similar, not only in the colours but also the prayerful posture of the elderly person, To me it is the end of winter with still snow on the ground. For me the 5 Wolves are my Clan Guardians building a protective barrier around me - having my back. BUT this is the 5 of Earth - poverty and setbacks, negative outcomes and -as the book says to move forward the fairy will have to slay and kill all these Wolves of her own mistakes and atone for having created them. That is sooooooo negative and a very negative view of Wolves! I do not feel anything like that at all - and never will. This image of the 5 of Earth will NEVER evoke a sense of Tarot 5 of Earth in me!
Mi-Shell Posted January 20 Posted January 20 Next - Images I like 🙂 With a special ♥ for the Death card!
Mi-Shell Posted January 20 Posted January 20 Toooo dark- for my taste. Of course this all is subjective and "only me"
Mi-Shell Posted January 20 Posted January 20 Sorrry to use up so many posts, but we have no electricity and the net is shaky - we are running the generator since 3 days....It was -24C and now - 10 and snowing and blowing like crazzzzy..... OK: Cards I find tooooo "tacky"/ fluffy or not my taste at all: (something must be wrong with me!)
Mi-Shell Posted January 20 Posted January 20 Here are the "do not like at all " ones: I personally find the face of the 6 of Earth being simply ugly and mean! A desert environment is just as precious as a lush jungle and animals and plants are fine-tuned and exquisitely adapted to their speciffic habitats. To me the HP also looks mean and self important and sitting on a pedestal od darkness and superiority, My first thought was: Bat from hell..... I can not get that out of my head 😞 The sun card - ?? THAT one bringing good tidings ?? I just do not trust that.... - yes, it is mis-trust that this image calls forth in me. I have met people like that - we all have! So - now, What do YOU Think? M,
Bodhiseed Posted January 20 Posted January 20 I think you saw more good in the deck than I would find - thank you for sharing those cards. I just don't connect with most of them, and I generally like nature based decks. Hope y'all can stay warm and cozy during the snowstorm! ❤️
Mi-Shell Posted January 22 Posted January 22 Just to mention: @Bodhiseed I do have several other decks from MJ Cullinane: The urban Crow, which I like and also bought for a friend, that moved to Toronto the Crow Tarot, which I find being a good easy reading deck and the Guardians of Night - another all Animals no Humans deck, which has wormed its way into my alltime favourite deck list 🙂 So I was quite exited about this Solstice gift, but - I think I will pass it on.....

It was interesting reading your experiences with this deck. When I first heard about it, I thought it was a Swedish deck and I got pretty excited. But then I watched a youtube video about the deck and it confused me. I realized that this deck is not for me. I was disappointed to see that the creator hasn't bothered to learn how to pronounce "Förhäxa" correctly, and the imagery doesn't appeal to me. I have seen her previous decks and I quite liked the crow deck. This one, however, I would not buy.
