Some here may have accounts on the Cartomancy Forum with posts and/or profile information important to them.

The Cartomancy Forum is shuttering. It will go Read Only after May 31st.

If there is anything you wish to download and save there you now have time to do so.

We apologize for the inconvenience.

This makes me so sad 😭.  Sorry Cartomancy is shuttering and for the work you, Kali and rif put into it.

Thanks for posting about it @fire cat pickles and letting us all know

I will see if I can get permission that we can have this announcement in a main tarot area.

The sad truth is that it's a really hard time for forums at the moment. Do support your faves, with visiting, posting and discussions, or it's possible we will only end up with Reddit and Facebook communities in future 😞

I'm very sad as well, went over to Cartomancy and posted to say thank you. I have often visited Cartomancy and posted there from time to time, and it has a lot of interesting material. Going through the old threads, I found again Nisaba's timing technique, which works well for me, and so much other good stuff. Especially if you're interested in non-tarot topics, Cartomancy is a unique treasurehouse of knowledge.

I'm even sadder in a more general sense. The time of blogs is over, and the clock seems to be ticking for forums as well. Big corporations take over everything. We lost independent bookstores, we lost independent fashion boutiques that reflected their owner's taste, everybody reads the same and dresses the same. AI will soon rob us of the parasocial warmth that is precious to introverts, and I have always felt that forums are an ideal nesting ground for introverts and individualists.

When I started my tarot journey, there was no Internet. Books are great, of course, meeting people is good (but how many do you meet when you can't find like-minded people because you have no Internet?), but forums like Cartomancy, this forum of course, and the old AT forum allow us all to share knowledge, experiences, questions and moments of doubt or insight. It's so inspiring to see that others grapple with the same things, and to connect on a place like this.

And I can't even imagine the work involved, done behind the scenes, smoothing out conflicts, helping threads along and answering questions. The unsung heroes and heroines of the Internet.

That's very sad - it's the only forum left where there is any sustained meaningful discussion, especially of Lenormand - but it is more cartomancy without tarot, so while I read it a lot, I post little.

What sad news 😞

But a HUGE thanks to you @fire cat pickles and Rif and Kali for the wonderful work you put in over the years! I know from experience just how much goes into modding a forum, way more than meets the eyes of the members. So THANK YOU!!

I've moved this to Tarot Talk & Technique as we have permission to put it in an area for all members to see 🤗

So sad to read. I have an account there but have not written much since my English is so poor.

That’s really sad to know! :bubble_bcry: I had moments I was very active in it, due to playing cards being my favourite divination method other than tarot.

Thank you @fire cat pickles, Rif and Kali for all these years keeping the cartomantic lantern burning bright. Hopefully, we will still gather in other places!

Alas, I feel like spaces of written discussion are disappearing in favour or image and video-centred social networks. I mean, it’s easier to film yourself blabbing than to engage coherently in a written conversation with others. Personally, I do not use social web anymore, and still keep an old-fashioned blog out of sheer obstinacy (and the fact I love writing), but still… I get sad whenever a small piece of the old web fades away…
