I have a database of all my tarot years in my digital notes, I used the third method and added each individual number and I start a new year on my birthday. I have gone Tower, Star, currently Moon and moving to Sun in my birthday in May. It does reflect my life. I have tried to put what happened in each year with the cards and it's been fascinating!

If I use the first method I get 10 and the Wheel of Fortune for 2019.

I will see at the end of 2019 which card fitted as a theme the best  :)

I look forward to it, Daniel[/member].  (( I can definitely see how your journey has reflected these cards, especially from Moon to Sun. The Wheel for 2019 will be very interesting.

This reminded me to refer back to Mary K. Greers "Tarot Constellations" which has a chart for determining your year card, and the cards associated with that year's lessons.

Mine matches with what I get when I use method 1: 15 - The Devil which, when reduced is 6 - The Lovers.

This corresponds with the Tarot Constellation of The Lovers, which is "The principle of relatedness and choice."

Each constellation pairs with a group of minor cards, these show your Lessons and Opportunities, the kinds of situations you are most likely to encounter in order to learn what is necessary for that year. This is generally used with your Personality and Soul cards, but the same can apply to a year card.

With The Devil or The Lovers, the lessons and opportunities cards are The 6 of Wands, 6 of Cups, 6 of Swords, and 6 of Pentacles.

The Devil as my year card makes perfect sense when paired with her suggested questions for me to ask that card.

"To what does emotion bind me? How do I free myself from these bonds? What knowledge will liberate my thinking?"

I'm realizing just how much my emotions control my life, and how I want to learn be less reactive and more logical. I can learn those things through the 6's.

PS - The book is free on Scribd, and incredibly insightful, and Mary K. Greer is AMAZING.

Hmm. Makes me clutch my chest. I'm itchy about change altogether  :bugeyed:

It could be worse.

Be calm MysticMoonlight - for me the Wheel of Fortune is about the best kind of change.  It is well represented by this song:

"Simple Gifts"

Its a gift to be simple, Its a gift to be free,

Its the gift to come down where you ought to be,

And when we find ourselves in the place just right,

Will be in the valley of love and delight.

When true simplicity is gained,

To bow and to bend, we will not be ashamed,

To turn, turn, will be our delight,

Till by turning, turning we come round right

Its a gift to be simple, Its a gift to be free,

Its a gift to come down where you ought to be,

And when we find ourselves in the place just right,

Will be in the valley of love and delight.

When true simplicity is gained,

To bow and to bend, we will not be ashamed,

To turn, turn, will be our delight,

Till by turning, turning we come round right

Till by turning, turning we come round right

My card is the Wheel too. Never forget, it keeps turning, nothing will last forever ;-) I guess the sooner change is accepted the faster it turns and the easier it becomes.

I totally hate changes

Indeed I'm hoping the changes are for the good as things have been trying for the last couple of years, to say the least. My pessimistic side always wants to be so loud though!  >:D

Such a beautiful song! (Another musical connection!)

Like Grandma[/member], I have another song that I think of in relation to The Wheel, MysticMoonlight[/member]. I'm a big Grateful Dead fan, and it's their song The Wheel. I especially loves these lines from the bridge of the song:

Small wheel turn by the fire and rod

Big wheel turn by the grace of God

Everytime that wheel turn round

You're bound to cover just a little more ground

I take the meaning of these words as- there are things that you choose to put in motion, and there are other things that happen that you have no control over. Through it all, we grow, we learn, we make progress as souls on this journey called life- we cover just a little more ground. All of it is part of our journey.

Thank you for sharing these card of the year methods Whisper!  ^-^ :)). I am familiar with method #1 and always calculate it that way, but I have never heard of the other two. Will be adding those into my tarot journal. My cards ended up being:

Method 1: The Devil

Method 2: Temperance

Method 3: The Hierophant

WELL, I can already see how the themes represented in these cards are playing out in my life. Literally, on the first day of the new year, shenanigans hit the fan in my home with a close family member (The Devil) which has been testing my ability to keep my inner peace and balance (Temperance). Nothing for the Hierophant so far, my guess is that I will need to rely on my spiritual path to help guide me. Who knows? :). Really interested to see what else the new year brings with these three cards hehe.

Using method one I received the Hanged Man (2+7+2019=2028=12) which I feel a bit uneasy about since the Hanged Man is such a confusing card for me haha

Thank you for sharing with me. Yes, wow, how very relevant to The Wheel! And so true as well. I'm bracing myself but yet, at the same time, I'm trying to focus on staying open and allowing what needs to come to come. The lyrics you guys have shared are a terrific reminder to do just that.  :)

Maybe...: when we're born, we obviously start as The Fool, but, perhaps, all through our life we are given myriad opportunities to step on the "merry-go-round". I think this is where we would "come in" and start from there going through the archetypal cycle. Does that make sense?

I may have came in as the Fool but my soul came is as the High Priestess! ~giggles~  OK seriously, I actually use Method 1.  My card this year is 11 and I apply that as Justice - about time too!  X-D.  I chose to use it as card 11 because I have always felt that we have to have strength in order to be just, hence my personal preference for that particular order of majors 8 and 11.

My deck of the month is Shadowscapes so I have chosen the post the Justice card from that deck.  It is a beautiful card.  I think I might just take some time to contemplate it and journal about it here in the near future  :)

Hmmmmmm ..... wonder if we could build a TT&M Member deck by our year cards ....

Oh no! Hahaha, i can't help but giggle at our own possible tumble coming up in the next year! With things like this sometimes I feel like a clown that's slipped on a banana peel and had a pie splatted in their face - give us a break, won't you?

But I guess this could be very exciting! If this year is a year of contemplation, letting go, and seeing the world from a new view point, then next year's changes will come about from all of the work in those Hanged Man areas done this year. Which I think for the two of us could mean a very splendid time, since transformation after a period of... spring cleaning so to speak, could be bursting with new adventure, mentally, emotionally, and/or physically! And we get to choose anyway, right? If I spend this year watching the old and rotten trees break down and dissolve in my backyard, and realize that they could now make lovely fertilizer instead of being upset at all the squishy muck that's left, then I get to start off next year with a fresh plot of land that's nourished and ready to grow and change into whatever I'd like. So I think that's very fortunate for us actually!

All three methods yield the same card for me: Wheel of Fortune.  I must say, it has been quite a year so far, both good and bad. And this weekend has been a particularly ill-fated one, as my older kitty is about to cross the so-called Rainbow Bridge. Change indeed...

Thank you for your kind words, joy. It has been a sad, protracted process. At least she is not suffering so far, so I'm trying to rule out euthanasia because going to the vet is too stressful for her. (Last year she drenched the poor man in urine from head to toe...😂)

The stress for animals when they have to go to the vet is something I am very familiar with. We were lucky that the vet came home to help our dogs cross the rainbow bridge. Hope your kitty can manage without having to go to the vet ❤️

My tarot year cards for all three calculations are:

1. Justice XI

2. Justice XI

3. Judgement XX

Some of the things that have been happening this year correlate strongly with both cards.

FIRST METHOD: day you were born + month you were born + year you want to check the cards for. You add the digits of the result until you get a number between 1-22.

@Whisper thank you for sharing different methods to calculate year card! I have used this method to calculate my yearly card (I am new to this) for 2023 and it turns out to be The Death card 😄

I wonder if anyone else on forum has calculated their 2023 card and are willing to share which card and their interpretation of it!

I am also curious if people who calculated their yearly card, did they feel energy of that card proudly that year (in retrospect) or not so much?

Thanks!
