I'm reading with great interest the posts about what people may see about tarot as they walk into your home, and it seems some people have a A LOT of decks! I get that!

But, for those of you who have hundreds of decks, I have a feeling some of you must have that one go-to deck that you always go back to.

Me personally, it's always my trusty vintage Grimaud TdM deck from'77. But color wise, it doesn't match up to some of the newer TdM's, they saved money by just dumbing down the multi colors. But it always feels good to use it. It's all good energy.

I like both of them. A lot of color going on and different ways of using the picture meanings. I also like the fact that there's no borders. The Thelma Fool looks a bit like Stevie Nicks!

I'm one of those who has hundreds of decks. 😀

I don't necessarily have just one go-to deck but I do find that I tend to reach for particular decks within a sub-category. For example, from my historical/TdM section, I usually reach for my Mamanmiyuki, Meneghello Soprafino or Noblet TdM. From the ones which could be called 'Dark Decks', I go for the Bohemian Gothic. I would also choose the Thoth over the RWS.

Gosh that is beautiful!

I have about a hundred decks from 1969 to the present, including various historical reproductions, but my "old stand-by" is a newer one, the PCS centennial. It feels very familiar and handles so well.

Often I want a deck without any words so I will grab something I have trimmed, usually the DruidCraft or Radiant Waite.

Everyday Witch or The Tarot of White Cats usually!

This changes over time for me. At the moment it’s the Stretch tarot and the Inner compass oracle. For 15 years it was the RWS but then it was Stella’s tarot, and then Sasuraibito, and Tarot of the Crone. As for oracles it has been Saltwater Reading Cards and Pythia Botanica these past two years. I’m sure there are others I’ve forgotten too.

I need to acquire one of those Noblet TdM decks myself. I saw one was for sale here and hesitated and boom- it was sold! Thats what happens when you hesitate, but I am busy right now. I had the Book Of Thoth, sold it myself, and well, you know the rest. Also have a Bohemian Gothic deck which I'll keep, great energy too, but I go back to my TdM's again and again because I just feel there's more to picture's Like the on the Judgement card, for example, than meets the eye. But it is a matter of personal taste. It is also interesting to see that readers who do have a lot of decks also do seem to have a couple they go back to.

For readings for myself and others my top two favourites and go to decks are The Roots of Asia and Legacy of The Divine.  Now and again l will look through my small collection thinking l will use a different deck,  but l am always drawn back to these two.  Between them they cover all spiritual and everyday questions for me and my sitters.

My Grimaud TdM is probably my most used deck, simply because of how long I've had it. It's not perfect,  but it's still charming and sparked my love for Marseilles-style decks. @Joe if you get a chance to snag a Noblet, grab it! I love reading with it.

My main go-to deck right now is the Tarot of Mermaids.  It was one of my favorite decks from the start, and it's been giving me really thought-provoking readings lately.

When I need a little boost, I'll use the Happy Tarot - even if it gives me a challenging message, the cuteness of the deck tempers it!

@Night Shade

Can't go wrong with Mermaids. Unless you're a guy whose been out to sea for too long.

Reading for myself, Tabula Mundi,  Roots of Asia,  SKT

For someone I don't know well, Tabula Mundi,  Asherah,  Thoth,  RWS -- (which one depends on the type of question and whether the sitter has a strong preference between Thoth & RWS style decks.)

For readings for others, it's always my very old but very loved Rider Waite Smith (that is if I'm caught on the hop - usually another deck will make itself known for the sitter but if I don't have time to allow that to happen, I just grab my RWS).

For readings for myself I always end up shuffling The Wild Unknown first edition.

Hmmmmmmmm ....... I have several I would reach for depending on the mood:  Alice Tarot, Fantastic Menagerie, VR Gold, Deviant Moon, Green Witch, Victorian Fairy Tarot, Green Witch, Tarot of the Sidhe, Tarot of the Sweet Twilight, The Fey Tarot, the Cosmic Tribe, Mermaid Tarot (by Leeza Robertson) ... just depends on the mood and querie but I would say those are my go to decks.  The more I genuinely expose myself to my collection through my "Deck of the Month" project the more decks get added to my "go to deck" list because I am comfortable reading with them and know them well.  But the Alice is my favorite 😝

Oooh, well let me see. I don't have a lot of decks, around 20 including playing cards. My go-to is usually always a TDM. Either the Noblet or the one that has my heart, and  yes I know orange people, the spanish tarot. Lately, as I've been branching outside of TDM, just to get a feel for different traditions, I've been picking up my second hand centennial Waite-Smith tarot. I've recently added the Albano Waite to my collection as well since I find the traditional (Pixie's) RWS deck so endearing, engaging, and firm. I've grown quite fond of it. So It is tying spanish tarot for favorite spot. The other decks I reach to depending on mood. I have the Victorian Romantic and find that the deck works beautifully as an aid to writing stories. My playing card decks are for spirit related readings, so definitely more specific, this also includes the only oracle deck I have which is LXXXI The Magician's deck.

I've also been rotating the decks I use to make sure the ones that don't get much love, get more love, and get used.

It has changed over the years. Used to be Bohemian Gothic, Legacy of the Divine, Llewellyn, Magical Forest, Deviant Moon.

Currently it's the Llewellyn, Shadowscapes, Hidden Realm, Anieth Nature and mainly the Greenwood.

I have a box with the decks I use in, my note books, cloths, pens etc. And a stack of print outs of Greenwood related info.

There's some oracles I use as well - Mainly the Celtic Shaman's Pack. More recently I've added a little moon phase deck, and even more recently the Green Wheel Oracle.

I think rotating decks helps keep the energy flowing in them. But no matter how much I use another deck for whatever reason, I just maneuver back to my TdM's. There's something about the intuitive deepness of them for me. Funny, because I don't have any that are in English myself.

I don’t have hundreds of decks, but I don’t think that my answer would change, in that I’m conversing with each of my decks in different ways and for different reasons...

The Wildwood is my deep spirit deck, I wouldn’t bring it out often but it’s irreplaceable.

The Animal’s Divine and The Victorian Fairy are examples of all-round decks, good for many occasions and queries.

The Golden Universal is extremely good at reading for others with, and in a fluent style rather than making a spread with.

Some are specialty decks with a very narrow range, but are perfect for certain purposes/queries.

(It’s why I keep on collecting, because to me it’s more than art.)

That’s exactly it, it’s how I feel about The Marseille too — Intuitive deepness. Nicely put!

The deck I could not do without - if all others were stripped away - Arthurian by Matthews.

But for reading, especially for other people, it's whatever calls the loudest on that occasion

l have one of those cards in my lovely Patchwork deck, the Seeker.  It tempted me to look up the Arthurian deck and l liked what l saw, though my money fund would not be too happy 😄

I don't have tons of decks but the most reassuring one(and also the first one I bought) is the art nouveau tarot ( https://www.adlibris.com/fi/kirja/tarot-art-nouveau-deck-9780738700083 ) . I know, people are always saying that it's not a good deck for reading 'cause the symbolism is not like RW and it's hard to understand but honestly, to me there is a clear(but subtle)symbolism in these cards, too. For example I see a lot of the emotional background information in the natural/flowery background(for example 5 of Cups has some empty branches in the background; or the 6 of Pentacles has tulips and one of the meanings of the tulip flower is to support the less fortunate) and I'm not really bothered by the lack of obvious symbols. Also I like pretty images, and I think this deck is very graceful, and it's very in my style, colour wise too.
