Eamane Posted May 31, 2019 Posted May 31, 2019 Hello everyone! I've been a Tarot enthusiast for eight years now. My favourtie Tarot deck is the Harmonious, but I'm a Rider girl at heart. I'm still learning and want to share my Tarot experience with likeminded people.
Nordica De Spell Posted May 31, 2019 Posted May 31, 2019 Hi @Eamane! I think we’re all still learning! Nice to meet you. 🌻
HOLMES Posted June 2, 2019 Posted June 2, 2019 welcome yes I am a waite dude at heart.. most of my decks tends to be waite clones, or inspired.. pictorial key to the tarot,, classic llewlyn, morgon greer. (hmm not really wiate but still good deck ) . for years my favourite was the universal waite , the one softly coloured by hanson Roberts, but for some reason,, the blueish radiance tarot doesn't appeal to me.

Thank you so much! Actually my first deck was a traditional Rider Waite, a mini. That's the one I "learnt" with, and I carry it around all the time. I think we've got a special bond, it's tends to be very honest and caring, if we can attribute personality to our decks. The Morgan Greer is another favourite of mine, I love the colours and imagery. Just like you, I do prefer the Waite inspired ones, but I bought the Tarot of the Thousand and One Nights and it's giving me a hard time!

I think the problem is the artwork is so far away, in the waite you can see decently, in morgon greer you see it up close. But the deck you describe to would be hard to read, like the russian tarot of st getetingsberg.

I've read two different versions of the Arab Nights, and I think I know some of the stories, but the art work is so intricate I don't really know where to start interpretin, so I have to trust my intuition even more. I'll keep working with the deck though because I like it, but I don't think it will ever become one of my go-tos.
Nordica De Spell Posted June 5, 2019 Posted June 5, 2019 The thousand and one nights is quite weird in that the art contains so much detail, yet they went for that small size in printing... I like the deck though, and would agree that it works better as a narrative or intuitive story-telling deck, than as a traditional one where you interpret symbols and stuff. It would have been super-neat with a guide-book that gave reference to the individual fairytales that the art on the cards is from... But, instead one just needs to armour up with a magnifying glass and inner imagination of ones own, I guess. So, I just make up my own stories, with that deck! 🙂

I've been looking all over for some good references, but it's so difficult, so I decided to rely on my intuition and my ability to tell stories. 6 hours ago, Nordica De Spell said: But, instead one just needs to armour up with a magnifying glass and inner imagination of ones own, I guess. But, this deck has made me think of Tarot as a discipline with many different approaches.

That, (and the art,) makes one appreciate the deck! And IT IS magical somehow, and something special with these tiny little windows with scenarios... It takes my mind a unique place, and I can’t just approach this deck like I normally would. But it takes some real inner digging to uncover those stories... It’s not one of those decks that ”gives for free,” but it requires so much participation from the reader... Certainly, it’s a very special deck, though! (One day I’m gonna have to study it more, and maybe cross-reference with the volumes of thousand and one nights in my bookshelf; but it seems an ardous task, so it won’t be this year either; hmmm...)
Eamane Posted June 27, 2019 Author Posted June 27, 2019 Thanks a lot @Wyrdkiss! I love owls! I've adopted them as my totem animal spirit.
