Symph Posted October 3, 2019 Posted October 3, 2019 So many good sounding books mentioned!! I want them alllll 🤩 The book that I want but do not have is this one https://www.target.com/p/origins-of-the-tarot-by-dai-leon-paperback/-/A-77078076?ref=tgt_adv_XS000000&AFID=bing_pla_df&CPNG=PLA_Entertainment%2BShopping&adgroup=SC_Entertainment&LID=700000001230728pbs&network=s&device=c&querystring=origins of the tarot book&msclkid=b408efe0ca8e139d377fb27642a5603b&gclid=CMf5yP6igeUCFUs0gQodJWID7w&gclsrc=ds I gotta wait for some funds before I can get it though. I actually have not yet bought any books diving too deep into the tarot, just the ones that come with my decks, however. The book that came with my Druid Craft deck is more than just a guide to card meanings, it's a whole exploration of druidism, wicca, and how these things relate to the Tarot and I found it to be absolutely magical. It gave me such a wonderful earthy understanding of the cards and also just of the pagan worldview in general, I highly recommend both the deck and the book that comes with it!!

My newest was an accident and I haven't exactly read it - it was an extra I got with an ebay purchase: Sandra Thomson and others: The Heart of the Tarot http://www.aeclectic.net/tarot/books/heart-two-card-layout/ It looks promising. The Heart of Tarot, I have that one! Er, Somewhere... I remember really liking it. Yes, the Special Topics series was great! I have all but one or two of them. There are a few more specialized books coming out from time to time, but because they are stand-alone, I think publishers want to make sure that even people picking them up as a first tarot book can use them - and so they include a whole chunk of basic card meanings again.... 😞 Not sure which was my most recent tarot book purchase, I bought a few around the same time a few months ago: Mindful Tarot (Lisa Freinkel Tishman, PhD) was one of those, as well as Tarot and Psychology (Arthur Rosengarten. That last one is a bit of a classic, but it always used to be rather expensive here for some reason, until it suddenly dropped quite a lot in price recently.
Hedera Posted October 6, 2019 Posted October 6, 2019 (edited) Sorry, double post. I've been pre-ordering interesting sounding books from a local online bookstore recently; it's a lovely surprise to have them suddenly turn up, weeks or even months later! Edited October 6, 2019 by Hedera Double post
Francis Posted October 8, 2019 Posted October 8, 2019 (edited) I bought this book that gave me a lot of help discovering the tarot "Manual de Interpretacion del Tarot Con Los 78 Arcanos Hardcover by Maria del Mar Tort Casals" Spanish Edition.. Edited October 8, 2019 by Francis
jupiter Posted October 8, 2019 Posted October 8, 2019 I just received Benebell Wen's Holistic Tarot today. At 800+ pages, that's a beefy one... can't wait to dig into it.
Francis Posted October 8, 2019 Posted October 8, 2019 Excellent reference about the Holistic tarot book, I will buy this book as well. Thanks Jupiter
Guest Amythyst_Raine Posted October 9, 2019 Posted October 9, 2019 For me, it's my own book and newest release, but I don't know if I can post this or not, or if it would be considered spam, so no links. But the title is "The Ultimate Tarot Guide for Your Personal Tarot Journey". I sat on this manuscript for years. I wanted a book that you could write in (like a workbook), but I also wanted to add my own twist to it, because there's just so many tarot books out there. I decided that for each card of the minor arcana, I would add my own personal connection. When I finished the book and re-read it, I was slightly alarmed at how personal some of those connections turned out to be. I felt like I had made some sort of cathartic journey.
Grizabella Posted October 12, 2019 Posted October 12, 2019 I can't remember precisely which book I last got, but I think it was Tarot Beyond the Basics by Anthony Louis and to be honest, it's still like new because I haven't read it. I've thumbed through and read some here and there in the last two or three years since I got it but maybe this is my nudge from the Universe to get busy and read it more thoroughly. I recently dug it out of books I still have packed, so now I'll leave it here by my computer and get into it more. I'd recommend this book to people who are experienced with Tarot on a basic level but feel ready to delve deeper. I have Rachel Pollack's Tarot Wisdom and even though I've had that one for quite a few years, Rachel's book plus this one by Anthony Louis are solid keepers in my Tarot reference books.

Portia Posted October 12, 2019 Posted October 12, 2019 Tarot Correspondences: Ancient Secrets for Everyday Readers by T. Susan Change Amazon Link This book is loaded with tables, charts, and exercises. From Astrology to Qabalah, to elemental associations, to numerology, to color associations, and more, this book has you covered. The information is clear and well organized. This is a wonderful reference guide for Tarot users who want to dig deeper to add additional layers to their interpretations. Very handy to have if you are someone who is interested in esoteric correspondences and associations. Surprisingly, I found it far less intimidating than I thought I would. This one is a keeper for me.
