My apologies for dropping off the face of the earth last week - busy busy week with lots going on - all is well, it was just crazy.

Due to my lack of time and everything else I'll be still using the Ananda, probably until the end of the year, when I have time to catch my breath and get caught up on everything I have been juggling madly for the past month...maybe.

Happy Solstice!

Hope life moves at the pace of sanity again soon, VGimlet!

I'm in with the Delta Enduring paired with Southernisms.

I love this idea as I have been curious how to use all of my decks enough to create a connection.

This week I am using the Black Cats Tarot.

This week I'll be using the Delta Enduring Tarot, created and self-published by Bridgette Egan. Along with it, I'll be drawing from the Southernisms Oracle (a deck I created based on sayings I grew up with). Today's draws are the Three of Oysters (Cups) and 'Til the cows come home:'

3cups.jpgcows_0002.jpg

Who's got your back? Who doesn't care whether you shave your legs, are wearing makeup, or have your comfy clothes on? I was brought up in a home that was a dysfunctional disaster on the inside, but punished severely those who left the house without 'looking presentable.' It's a relief to have friends who care more about how kind I am than my outward appearance. As Donald Miller once said, "When you stop expecting people to be perfect, you can like them for who they are." The saying 'til the cows come home' refers to the slow, unhurried pace of cows (unless they're being chased). At the end of a day, they slowly plod back to the barn. If something is said to continue ‘til the cows come home, it’s going to go on for a very long time. Looking at the fun these ladies seem to be having on their picnic, it might do them all a world of good to ignore the clock and let their enjoyment and laughs wash the stress right out of them.

I will use the Mary-El second edition for another week, plus the Animal Magic Oracle cards. They are fast becoming a favorite animal deck.

the new High Priestess might be my favorite Priestess.

@Bodhiseed oh, I love the color palette of the Delta Enduring. I am so glad to have it in my collection. It has one of my favorite Justice cards. And 8 of wands, too...! Wishing you happy reading with it.

Thank you, @Amberjune! I like that HP too. How does the new deck's cardstock compare to the old deck?

I  am late to this week's party - and will use the Herbcrafter's Tarot, since I am doing the Sacred Days of Yule Spread/ daily cards with it.

@Amberjune a friend of mine and local tarot reader keeps telling me that I need to get the Mary-El Tarot. I feel intimidated by it. I am not sure why. Thank you for sharing your experience with it this week.

I recently traded a deck for The Black Cats Tarot because I am really drawn to the storyline of the White cat wearing a Black cat costume to come around full circle back to the White cat. Like wearing a mask or hiding and having to go through journey. It is a bit playful, but the messages are clear for me in the images and the readings feel accurate, IMO. Today I did the suggested 6 card pull and 5 additional cards fell out of the deck while shuffling. A big read, accurate and helpful with some action items to take.

Mostly I suspect the Hermetic goes right over my head, astrology, path of muckluck etc, but it is golden dawn/thothish and like a sip of wine, those decks clear my mental palate.

The Mary-El was so looked forward for many years, of course I bought it. Didn't take much use to find I was so happy to sell it on... It was such a personal deck to Mary using it felt like an invasion of her brain, rummaging around in her medicine chest, made me very uncomfortable. It was also huge, and the cardstock is sticky. But to be really end of the decade clear and honest? It has penises all over 🙂 and because I use my cards on my blog, a personal fear using art like that is someone somewhere will report it and zip, the blog would be gone. Don't know if that has ever happened but I wouldn't be surprised. I'm not risking it, 5500+ posts, 15 books worth of journaling the essential me? yikes!

Oh my! Thank you so much for sharing! I am just not really drawn to this deck and I guessing all of these reasons are why. I have a true aversion to cards that are oversized and I cannot shuffle and, now that you have reminded me about the development of this deck, I am remembering that I was thinking something similar about it being very personal to her. I think my friend loves it because she had a similar journey and relates to it. I have not and am not feeling compelled to get it. And I agree with you about not even tempting fate with it and your blog. Congratulations on having such a nice following -  not worth losing over a tarot deck. 😊

I will just put a link to the Sacred Days of Yule reading circle, where my contribution with the Herbcrafter's resides on the lower part of page 1

We all are adding a card a day for 12 days and then do a synopsis of the whole spread:

Welcome to the DOW group, @FindYourSovereignty!

The Mary-El is an old favorite of mine. I have been working with it for many years and love it deeply. I come from the Thoth tradition, so maybe that is why it speaks to me so organically? Though the  deck does not follow the Thoth tradition, there are a many  links to various mythologies, and numerology in the cards, and yes there is nudity (which I love). It is my go to deck and sits right there on my nightstand. It finds and creates new language and new associations, and thus adds and expands to the traditional meanings of the cards. Thus working with the deck is always exciting for me. I find that I can dive deep and play with an archetypal and essential layer when working with these cards. They are worlds upon themselves. 🙂

@Bodhiseed

The new second edition does not have the glossy coating and the cards feel thinner, they are also smaller and borderless. The first print came with black edging, unfortunately this did not turn out to well, with the cards being very sticky and chipped edges in some places. They've since done a second printing with silver edging. I am content with the card stock and it shuffles well.

@Amberjune Thank you for sharing. I know there is a reason, probably many, my friend loves it and I am glad to hear of these details. I actually have several decks with nudity - interestingly more female than male which seems more common at least in the decks I have, so I am not actually bothered by the nudity. I feel more hesitant because of my lack of knowledge with the symbolism and mythology. It may be the very reason that I feel this deck is more personal to the author than other decks I own. Thank you you for pointing this detail out. I haven’t actually seen this deck in person. Good to know about the silver and black edging versions.

Today using The Black Cats tarot I did a 12 card layout for Yuletide and it felt like it took forever. 😜Being new to tarot I looked up the meaning of each card in a few different books so that I could learn. I really get a lot from the art, but decks are really different and I need to have more knowledge of each card’s traditional meaning.

I really like the Yule spread you shared @Mi-Shell. One card each day welcomes really sitting with the energy and then getting an overall message for the year ahead.

For me it is more like

"What is happening in my life today"

That in itself illuminates the path forward and also points to which roads to take and which ones better not.....

I am doing @Raggydoll's   30 Days of Working With the Moon: A spread for each day of the lunar cycle and this was my New Moon pull with The Black Cat's Tarot.

This deck seems kind of like a serious whimsy, as you really can feel the emotion the cards hold in the deck - or maybe the cats simply appear to be annoyed all the time - not sure exactly, could be a little bit of both. I've really enjoyed working with this deck. It reads well for me and although I am still new and learning, I have received solid messages that resonate clearly.

Manifesting for the month: The Empress, encourage others to find creative ways to change their lives

Prioritize for this to take root: Judgement, rebirth, renewal, freedom

Forsake or put on hold: Temperance reversed, warning sign: stop over-indulging in all areas

Yep. Spot on for me.
