Eight of Water

As the full moon rises above the distant hills, a cloaked woman walks by a stream in a water meadow, dropping eight remnants of crumpled and torn letters into the water to be borne away towards the sea. Her face is turned towards the Moon, partly obscured by thin cloud.

This card is about discarding old relationships – with friends, lovers, familiar objects – that have proved negative, disappointing or are simply outworn. The rising Moon represents the pull of new dreams, not yet fully visible (no plan is yet in place), and care and courage will be needed to negotiate the watery pools, small streams and boggy areas before the Querent reaches the comparative safety of the

hills and what lies beyond.

It's a lovely 8 of Water, @Pen! It's the sort of image you could write a story around.... 🥰

Thank you Starlight, I'm so glad you like it. It does seem to ask for a story, but my eyes can't really cope with hours of screen time these days so the art has taken over. 🎨

Oh no, I didn't mean YOU-you, I meant ONE-you. It's the sort of card that one could write a story about. I meant that it gets the imagination stirred up. 🙂

I got what you mean and I agree! Very suggestive image!

Yes, it could be an illustration in a storybook.

It's funny, because it began with drawing the cloaked figure (because I just love cloaked figures!) - the background came later. It was just fields, a stream and the distant hills, but because of the way the watercolour had made little accidental patterns it suggested a water meadow with tiny streams. I couldn't use cups (only water...!) so then the letters arrived.

But logically, you know, YOU-you and ONE-you are both the same in this thread - We are One...!!! And if someone is inspired to write a story - please feel free! 😊 🤣

Hey all.

Sort of a work in progress. I created my first oracle deck. Think of it as Cards against humanity meets Oracle cards. Its currently live on kickstarter 🙂

Have a look...

This thread is about the community deck we are creating, not any other decks. Also, no promotions are allowed outside of our ‘Promote yourself’ area, and members need 5 posts to start a thread there.

Thanks - we are doing OK - ONE card left to finish and then it goes to print.

Post a few more times and then you can advertise yours

We are One!! 🥰

Sometimes I use cards for journalling; I have, once or twice, used cards for NaNoWriMo to get the ball rolling. Pictures really are worth 1000 words. 🙂

(Let's see if I know how to attach images)

I didn't manage to post a picture while it was still in-process, but here's the Star I sent, as a slightly bigger image than what's in the preview.

I signed up, excitedly started working on the idea, concept, text and sketches, thought "wow I'm off to such a great start" - and then got distracted by life events and completely forgot about tarot-related things for a few months.

Luckily I remembered the whole thing maybe a week before the deadline, reported in managed to bring the image to a printable state - but since I wanted to try something new, namely watercolor brushes in photoshop, I kept experimenting and tweaking and testing and redrawing and honing till the last possible moment.  I think I had something like a luxurious 8 minutes to spare when I hit send. Oof! So, I regret I didn't manage to be around and posting earlier.

I would have liked to hone the image a bit more, now that I look at it all I see is errors (there's a particularly glaring one, can you spot it? 😉) - but that's always how it is with anything I draw, if there's no deadline nothing's ever ready.

Medium is a digital drawing, done with photoshop.

I had a great time! It was interesting to think about the card, its meaning and symbolism and what I want to portray (I really wanted to bring in the navigational guidance from the spiritual or your inner self aspect of the card in addition to the hope and healing, hence the compass / map star reference), about the layout.

It was great to work with it, too, and I loved working with the special brushes. Now I feel like wanting to do more cards, ha!

The only "error" I can spot is that we weren't allowed signatures

She has 6 fingers on her left hand, but that's Ok - it's a great card with loads of impact!  😄

edited to add that I'd never have noticed if you hadn't said anything...!
