That Ukrainian deck looks amazing @katrinka.  Leave it to you to find something more to tempt me.

I'm trying to resist, too! I don't need more decks!
But it's sooooo singing a siren song to me...

ETA: the siren won. How could she not? My wallet didn't have a prayer.

Me too. I like its uniqueness (not AI) and off-beat TdM niche. Not sure about how it'll make it's way to the US and how much more the tariff will raise the price, UGH...

The creator announced today that the decks and boxes are already printed and plans to have them all shipped from Italy before July.

New Kickstarter deck from James R. Eads

The Oracle of Many Paths

It's a 78 card deck which is a tarot, oracle and numerology deck. When you lay out the cards it forms a map.

https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/jamesreads/the-oracle-of-many-paths/

There is a few Early Bird decks left and 14 days left to pledge on it. It's already well funded.

It's so fascinating how the self-publishing big name artists, launch all new decks as huge crowd funders now. I guess it provides the funding to publish it.

Ooh, I was excited to see that he uses colored pencils in that video, because that's what I like to use.  I was feeling discouraged about using them after reading somewhere that they don't reproduce as well as other mediums.  I would guess he uses oil-based pencils.  I am tempted to contact him and ask what kind he uses.  Thanks, Daniel!

I took a peek and that looks a lot like Faber Castell Polychromos pencils, but I can´t make out the label to be 100% sure. Polychromos would be a really good pic though, it is a favorite among professional artists, and they don´t have the issues that wax based pencils do.

Oh, thank you, @Raggydoll!  I know I need to make an investment in better pencils.  I have a few oil-based ones but most of mine are wax-based.

I know polychromos are expensive but they are worth it. I have a large set that I purchased in 2008, when they were a little more affordable. My set will literally last me a lifetime, given that I don’t use them super often. I don’t think anyone needs that big a set though, 12 to 18 pencils is probably enough if you’re good at layering and blending. That makes it a bit more affordable.

You’re as much of an enabler as I am.  I promised myself no more looking at kickstarter decks but I was bored one night.  Now I’m a backer of this one.  I do like his art style.

I love his art, but his delivery costs to the UK and Europe are quite insane. It's like £20 (US$27), that's on the crowdfunders and his website. It's that cost for whatever you buy. It's also possible you could end up paying the same in custom fees. It's the most expensive delivery I have seen. I have paid it on a kickstarter once and avoided customs charges😞 . Some UK shops import a tiny bit of his stuff but often they have some of those costs in the UK pricepoint, so you cannot escape it.

I would buy a lot more of his stuff if it was cheaper to get it here but that's always the problem with international buying. Perhaps it stops me deck buying and is a good thing :classic_laugh:.

I do wonder in future if you just get something professionally printed in your country (like books on demand).

I think that’s probably the way it will have to be in the states for the foreseeable future given how things are right now and that was one of the deciding factors in my decision to back the project…the free shipping within the United States.  Otherwise it would have been a no-go.  I like a few European decks, too, but the cost of shipping does my head, and my bank account, in.

A few weeks ago Lo Scarabeo sent an email announcing their release of the Frazetta Fantasy Tarot. Today, they shared the actual date when it will launch on Kickstarter.

First off, I’m excited about this deck since I’m all for boobs and muscles—and artwork created by people who have truly mastered their craft.

Additionally, I think these aesthetics reflect aspects of the upcoming Neptune ingress into Aries: the idealisation of raw, uncivilised masculinity.

There has been another Frank Frazetta Tarot quite recently on KS.

...i generally have mixed feelings about about artist catalog decks:  i appreciate the showcase but feel tarot symbolism works best with bespoke art...that said, i made an exception for quimbley's wooden frazaetta deck and it's a nice production!..

...it shipped flat-packed + laser-cut; i still had to punch the cards and parts to build the case but it's a formidable deck; santa muerte deck pictured for scale...

(imgur dot com slash a slash plPmBk6)

...the wooden cards are extraordinarily thick and feature silkscreened artwork, which softens the images but kind of works with frazetta's style...it's a bit of a chore to shuffle but this deck is all about the tactile experience; even the linework is slightly raised and and it includes the nicest heavy-velvet tarot mat in my collection, really lush to the touch...

...sadly, i think this was the only product quimbley brought to market before they folded...

(sorry about the awkward broken hyperlinks but my account's too new to link directly yet)

The link "cannot be viewed in my country". This may explain the huge number of imgur images that have disappeared from another forum I am on.

But Kickstarter will fall over outside the US if Trump's tariffs don't change very soon. I just got hit with fees (on the Frazetta) that were almost as much as my pledge.

Imgur has decided to entirely block the UK in response to our online safety act requirements 😞

@myrrh can attach an image / links when they get to 5 posts 🙂

...okay, let's see if i can manage these direct attachments...

...the book includes spreads with full-page color art and a full-page narrative for each card, which is welcomed and also showcases how soft were his original works; it helps the printing limitations of this deck sit a little more comfortably...

...i was quite surprised to see lo scarabeo's deck announced right on the heels of this campaign, although given the profound differences in medium, i think each deck scratches a different itch...

...they're standard tarot size cards but that formidable thickness really adds up; these two images next to the santa muerte deck give a good sense of scale...

...i also picked up an additional deck box in the campaign, which is currently providing a cosy home to a couple of nice la muci decks and a few lo scarabeo artist decks:  it stacks nicely on my bookshelf...

Thanks for posting these photos, @myrrh
I certainly saw the old KS campaign and some info on the production process but had no real impression of the final product.
I hope I can get hold of the Lo Scarabeo deck sooner or later.

I've got the Lo Scarabeo deck (I backed the Kickstarter campaign and got the deck a couple of weeks ago). I always liked Frazetta's style and I really like the deck. BTW the Magician card in the deck is a portrait of Frazetta himself. The cards have silver edges and the cardstock is not too thick, but feels good and shuffles very well. The deck was shrink-wrapped and together with the LWB fitted very tightly inside the box, so it was a hell of a job to get it out. I now leave the LWB out of the box and keep everything in the bag that came with the deck (I ordered it when backing the KS campaign).

...i usually keep my decks in bags if i have them, or re-house them in various tarot cases, and then just stow the book away in its original box in case i ever want to reference it; typically i keep the reference booklets and deck boxes on-hand only for non-standard decks...

Let's keep this thread about current crowdfunded decks we see that might be interesting for us all. It becomes too confusing if there is related but different posts about crowdfunded decks we have bought.

There is a Postman Bringing thread for decks on the way and an Unboxing thread to share decks we open and we can always start a Tarot Decks thread about any deck we want to discuss.

...along a similar vein of alternative materials, this copper tarot 'deck' looks pretty cool...

...they're tiny, *coin sized*, but i'm impressed by the designs, which despite the size limitations feature surprisingly faithful tarot imagery...

These coins look absolutely gorgeous! And I completely understand the price. But I am saddened that they are so far out of my price range.
