...my instinctive reflex upon seeing the cosmic sunbeam is children's tarot!..

These coins look absolutely gorgeous! And I completely understand the price. But I am saddened that they are so far out of my price range.

...and this is a dangerous time of year to browse kickstarter in general; i came away from checking out the cosmic sunbeam with three more campaigns saved, none of which can i reasonably afford right now...

...that video for the shire post mint copper tarot is compelling, though...

I strongly agree with this. Though Kickstarter is always dangerous for me. All year round 🤷🏼

...they're tiny, *coin sized*, but i'm impressed by the designs, which despite the size limitations feature surprisingly faithful tarot imagery...

These are so cool. How I wish I could afford a full set right now, for on-the-go pulls that aren't a fragile deck.

The artist who made the popular ScandiNight Lenormand last year has a Kickstarter for a Tarot version based on RWS.

There are ScandiNight (dark deck) and a ScandiLight (white deck) options and it has hand drawn art, inspired by folk and Scandinavian art.

It's fully funded already, comes from Germany and ends on the 13th November.

...how common are thoth decks?..i've only ever seen the original; didn't realise that other artists have attempted their own interpretations...

Not one for me.  Some things throw me off, like the Queen of Wands with dark colors and their text entry connecting her to Autumn, since in the Thoth she's mainly connected to Aries and spring. They do show Aries on the card though!  (Also, the 9 of Wands says "Happininess" though I assume that will get fixed.)

I get that 'Ruined' is in the title, so it's a darker deck, but having the positive cards look... not positive gives the whole thing one mood to me. Though if someone specifically wanted that, this would be just right. It's got a certain vibe. Original art is good instead of a clone, but the closest we come to knowing the art medium (that I saw) is "fractured visual language" with "oil painting traces". Honestly, with "visual language" and some of the lines in certain cards like the 2 of Wands, I was thinking AI, but they said no AI was involved.

My only concern is that the cards looks  too dark. I don't mean as a dark deck, the cards itself looks too dark.(with some exceptions). I'm afraid l would look at them and l'd have to really stare at the cards to see the details.

Wow... Refreshing not to see AI crap.

Too bad it's from Hong Kong. The tariff would kill me 😞

Good point!

I agree and feel this is their take on a shadow version of a Thoth style deck. I am not into that and prefer the decks to be more balanced.

Thank you all for sharing! I really appreciate it!

Now I really like this deck. I'm going to have to think about it and study it on a bigger screen than my phone.

There's a new kickstarter for an Elvira Mistress of the Dark Tarot Deck

https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/dynamiteent/elvira-mistress-of-the-dark-illustrated-tarot-card-set

It's already fully funded at 10x the amount needed (Elvira is very popular with the gay community as a camp horror Queen).

Kickstarter ends on the 22nd December.

One interesting thing is that it was made with Cassandra Peterson (Elvira) as a collab with an artist and the writer. One of the pledges is signed decks by her.

Her memoir of her life is such a great read and if you like her character, this is a RWS with her as the characters.

Thank you for posting this. I backed it. ❤️

I'm thinking about backing it, the cards come in a box shaped like a coffin. I am just thinking it over because of the postage costs to the UK 😞

I did back Elvira in the end, I couldn't resist an Elvira RWS 😄

Not sure if this is the right place or if it was posted already (I did search for "bricks" etc first), but I just randomly ran across this on an unrelated Discord...

"Bricks of Fate"  interesting take on card building.

I've been watching this deck since before the Kickstarter. Being in the US though, I'm afraid of the impact of tariffs at the time of fulfillment making the deck ridiculously expensive. 😖🤬 So I haven't backed it. I DO think it's a novel approach though! 😍

That one is coming to me soon.  I don't back any from the US any more.... Blame Trump/

There was some controversy online that the artist used Pixie's monogram on the cards when she didn't design these cards. They seem to have explained why on the KS page it was included but it has annoyed some Tarot History folk.

Maybe they were ignorant and thought they were being respectful, who knows, but you can’t ever use someone else’s signature no matter what. They could absolutely be sued for it. I’m surprised it hasn’t been pulled from KS. But then again, KS doesn’t seem to care all that much about copyright when it comes to tarot 🙄

Thoughts on this deck? He reached two stretch goals already. The most recent was including a set of seven alternate majors of Jaques Vieville style art. The first was adding Juno and Jupiter.

https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/alejandrorrozan/pixies-marseille-tarot/description

I had a look at this deck as well, but ultimately I decided not to follow it. For me personally it felt a little flat I think... That's before I saw what @DanielJUK and @Raggydoll posted above. In terms of my own tastes, if the cards looked more like the print that's on offer as an extra reward, I'd be more tempted!

Interesting. I hadn't heard about this controversy and I do agree with thr concerns. What is the point of it?

I wonder how it would be reported. I recently backed a deck that KS pulled AFTER they took all the money and even more money because the supposed creator informed everyone more money was needed to cover tariff fees. The whole thing feels terribly yucky. Best to just not participate when this is clearly her signature.

He's actually created a deck already called The Rider-Marseille deck. I like the print, too.
