Now this is something I will 100% get behind. Would have to wait for an official release though.

I backed it but I won't know if I made a good choice or not until I'll see up close.

I'd love to get people's thoughts on this, the Haptic Tarot:

https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/pageofcups/the-haptic-tarot

Yes, it's an AI created deck, and personally speaking I wouldn't usually be interested on that basis... But there's something about this one that has me very intrigued.

Wow, those cards are beautiful. I really love how expressive the hands-only images are on the Minors, but the Majors, personally for me, seem to be a bit too simplistic. A hand holding a white rose between rocks for the Fool? A hand holding up a laurel wreath in the World? Those are stripped of layers and layers of meaning. And I wonder if, over time, one will start missing actual faces on the cards.

Yes, this is exactly it. The aesthetic is right up my street, and I think the deck is beautiful. I felt that the minors could be read in a pip-ish way, even though they’re referencing the RWS (albeit in a subtle way). But, what lets it down is the majors. I can’t really decide if after a while they would leave me a little cold. I’m glad someone else picked up on that point.

It's too aI generated for me, it screams of saying "produce 10 cups in the style of this artist".

I can't say it will always be that way, but AI art still leaves me cold and not connected to it at all.

This is different to the decks from artist's work already out there, which tend to be collages of their paintings and art.

It's been thought about and put together by humans.

I like van Eyck. But... I think not. Probably. And that will of course be reinforced by the cost of postage....

Yes, personally I do agree with all of this and it's something I'm very conscious of. I think I got very taken in by the aesthetic because it's one of my favourite art periods... Anyway, you and @dancing_moon have helped me to decide against backing it.

Me too, and actually I was very pedantic and pointed out to myself that even though the deck may be 'inspired by' van Eyck and that artistic period, the aesthetic seems to reflect the work of a later period. To my mind, anyway.

You know - you're right ! I wasn't looking too closely.

James R. Eads (Prisma Visions, Green Glyphs and other decks) has a new kickstarter going for a numerology deck called The Cerulean Sequence

https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/jamesreads/the-cerulean-sequence

It's a numerology oracle in a nice blue colour, with drawings. They are drawn in blue pencil.

It's already fully funded on opening and completes on the 23rd May, 13 days to go! Sadly the Early Bird price is over already

It's interesting as a renown author of many decks, he always takes to crowdfunding to sell himself now, doesn't do the mass-market publishing route. Each of his new decks uses this method.

Thanks for the heads up. Blue is my favorite color; his drawings are beautiful and original, and the packaging etc. will be to a high quality. The thing that will keep me from getting it is that, as a numerology deck, the cards I saw don't make me think of their number. Like the 1 card with 6 mushroom creatures in a circle, Or the 2 card with a flat plane pushed up into 3D space that makes me think of 3. I'd have to grab the book to read about the connection, and I'd rather look at that 2 card and think, Yes, this art makes me think of 2 or duality, dividing, etc. Another example is the card teeming with fish that says 1. He shows the entry for that card, and it's a reminder of the primordial soup from which we came, so it makes sense, and I'm betting the rest do too. I just think I'd need to lean on the guidebook more than I prefer, unless I read it intuitively, but then I'd be bothered by disregarding the numerology in a numerology deck. Which is a me thing, not an issue for everyone. Anyway, I'm rambling... It's a gorgeous deck, of course.

Actually I had the same feeling. Love the concept and the fact that it's hand drawn. Super important factors pour moi ... BUT I have my own system of numerology tied into astrology, tarot, pythagoras ... I kinda don't want anything to eff with that. Numerology is central to my tarot and astrology practice ... I don't know if I could [or want to] use it independently of those disciplines.

I looked through some of the deck videos on instagram and don't really understand the symbols for each number, you are so right @Rose Lalonde 🤣.

Maybe it all makes sense when you understand the decks system 🤷‍♂️. I'm not going to go for it but his stuff is usually good quality and pretty

I did enjoy taking a look though, @DanielJUK, so thanks for that. I wish it were a deck that clicked for me, since I like the art style and curio cabinet feel.

I saw a flipthru of an advance copy of the Cerulean Sequence (on the Hermit's Cave youtube) and it's beautiful, but it's not for me. It sounds like you're meant to solve its puzzles and I just wasn't drawn in enough to want to do that.

A few intriguing and fun Kickstarters I have seen recently....

The Magic Pantry Tarot by Cedar McCloud

https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/numinousspiritpress/the-magic-pantry-tarot

This is a food-based and cooking tarot deck which is made by Cedar, who created the amazing (and the LGBT+ essential!) Numinous Tarot.

FYI Since that deck, they have changed their name.

It's already well over the funding goal on launch, it ends on the 21st June.

I like Cedar's artwork and I like it's a tarot that is something different! I am thinking about backing this one but still contemplating it all.

I am intrigued by the idea of divining with food! It is vegetarian friendly and vegan (with 3 card alternatives). It does not depict alcohol and is fat-positive and not shaming

The DIY Deck by Joseph Stretch

https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/jestretch/diy-deck-create-your-own-tarot-cards

We loved Joe Stretch's earlier decks on the forum, The Stretch Tarot was published in 2016 and later was joined with a Lenormand Deck. They use mixed media and collage and put together old public domain images with the modern.

This deck is something different, it's a deck to make yourself! You get 78 cards with the name of the card on the bottom and borderlines. The cards are then blank white! You also get a bag for it, a book with stickers with it of his designs. You can draw on them, paint, do anything you want! There are templates and help to create your own cards. One of the packages also has online art classes to help create it and one of them has further art supplies.

It's already fully funded and the deadline is the 16th June.

There are some early bird pledges still ongoing for this deck

Not sure I will back this one because my art skills are terrible but it's something creative and fun!

I hate to say it, but Lo Scarabeo already did that one.

The Magic Pantry looks cute! I love the concept too. I think Cedar's art is getting better and better too (not knocking the art in the Numinous Tarot, I just love seeing artists grow!) I might have to back it, I'm actually working on a family recipe project myself.

The DIY Deck is an intriguing concept too, though personally if I were going to do a collage tarot I'd find my own materials. Best of luck to him though. 😸

I decided to back the Magic Pantry 🙂 It's pride month and I wanted to support the Queer Theys 🙂 :animated-rainbow-image-0010:
