More cards...
We looked at some cards. By what was done so far, one may have noticed a few tendencies in how the Tree is looked at here. We will expand on that a little, as that is what we need to understand the other cards.
The main idea here is that the right pillar we view as "Community", while the left pillar we view as "Individuality".
The cards we connected to the right pillar were The World as a whole, the largest undivided community we know.
The Lovers as a creation of ones own family, the Community they create.
The Hierophant as a Spiritual Community, so the one that is suppose to connect to everything else beyond the first tree in us.
On the opposite site we have the individuality.
The Fool, as one walking alone, only with their own pet, but clearly showing the pet is not on the same level, that isn't community of travelers, the Fool hasn't developed that yet, so in here he is alone and show walking "ones own way", very related to his own path on the top.
The Chariot suggests a kind of winning that means everyone else loses. That kinds of winners are usually on the top step of the ladder, we do realize they are always alone, not only because they have to separate from the rest to win, but also because they are usually actively against everyone else for that kind of win. In all cards connected to the right pillar we can have other kinds of "wins", but they will always be a community wins, never a sole champion win.
The Hermit at the end, suggests of course one is alone and seeks spiritual connection deep within.
In general studies(also common sense) shows that an individual in a community has a lot longer life expectancy then one living alone.
And it makes sense, a problems and challenges that one alone can't ever hope to go beyond, may be very easily solved in a group of people, where other people knowledge and expertise can join in in the solving of whatever problems come up.
So then, the right pillar, becomes a lot healthier then the left, potentially. As the fields in a community carry information one may need, be that a human knowledge and support, or the general knowledge one can find in a library for example, a very communal type of Structure.
Not suprisingly, then, Gevurah is seen as the step where the Tree "broke" apart. How deep we want to go into the "receiving" of the light and turning our back to it and all that is up to us, there are many wonderful books out there with many details on that. But I think its generally agreed on that Gevurah is where everything broke, so makes sense all 'heavier' and more dangerous cards are connected to it. And indeed we can see it like this:
Gevurah - Binah -Death
Gevurah - Hod - The Devil
Gevurah - Tifered - The Tower
Now, if we view it as the idea of community it should be very easy to figure out the cards on the right, connected to Chesed. Chesed is kindness, in the male, Yang way of it we have the Emperor, in its Yin, female to it we have the Empress(Netzach showing the Water world and the female aspect of it all, while Chokmah showing the male).
Leaders of a community in a male and female way. So we will look at it as a polarity, the leaders of an "Empire" on the right, as representing leading a large community together, while the left are the same cards/experiences, but when done as individuality.
So first we have the Strength as connecting Chesed and Tifered, that as opposition of the Tower as Gevurah Tifered.
Tifered as the true self, so we have someone being what they are, then on the next step they have to either open up or close down, as already said on purely human level.
To understand that can be very helpful if we have seen individual that has lived for a long time in a place where Jue Ming influence has been very strong. That is Feng Shui "wondering star" that in my humble view is the same influence as what we call Gevurah in the Tree of Life.
They burst out, they can't easily open up, as have moved too far away from belonging to any community, so there is "lonesomeness" that have culminated there. In a very aggressive way, usually, as that often comes with a lot of fear.
So then, we can view opening up on a human level, when someone can release strength in a slow, steady and very grounded way. Emperors and Empresses in their ideal view here, as peaceful ruler, can show that. There is great presence there, that is the connection to their true self at Tifered.
On the opposite site, the connection with the true self in Tifered, when shown through Gevurah can not happen in a steady and strong way, there is great inbalance there, as one is alone, so doesn't have enough knowledge or connection to have the strength needed to open up. So they burst step by step. Again , that is much easier to see then explain, but if one sees it once knowing what is happening, they can't miss it, in my view. Its very much perfectly rendered in the Tower, as from taht position one often builds Structures to protect them from the outside world, so that bursts in opening up to connect, is segments of the Towers falling apart.
That is viewed as very important card, as that is what a lot of humanity is going through in this step of the technological progress path(humanity overall has created its own towers separating us from nature, for good or bad, they always fall, however, no other way to get down someday).
Gevurah <> Hod <> The Devil, as already mentioned Hod and Netzach I view very differently then the source for either Wondering Stars or for Kabbalah, so lets skip that, if we simplify it and view Hod as reflection/thought then its just the thoughts one gets when they are alone and outside any communities and they are darker then the ones we get in Chesed for example. The ones in Chesed are softer, more supporting and make sense to be very connected to the Empress, even if she is far away on the other pillar, there is connection by position instead.
At the end of this we have Death as Gevurah <> Binah.
On the other site we have the Emperor at Chesed <> Chokmah.
So that is the next step. We have one that has been cut off from community in Gevurah(often by their own choice), that is the most unhealthy position by the way, be that Jue Ming in Feng Shui(usually hitting, again, at Lungs and/or Large Intestine, as its Metal in the East), or as Mars in Astrology, often viewed as malefic planet, although not as bad as Jue Ming in Feng Shui in most cases. Yet Jue Ming seems to show it better, if one see people strongly affected by it.
However, we can guess the Fool walking that path would be very unhealthy at this point.
Death, then , is what happens when one connects to Binah from there. Binah is... Its complex, but lets simplify it by saying that Binah is the compressed path we are walking through and that comes out as Images that guide one. If we want to understand it, "neverending story" as usual presents the perfect metaphors in my view, specifically the digging of Images from the Earth at the mines near the end.
So one is cut off from all communities, their connection to their Self is at violent bursts at that time and suddenly they connect to their True Path. That suggests they will either become a very impressive being indeed, or they will just die. Both will allow their path to "realign". Great healers, great innovators, often were going through stuff like that, in the darkest times they found their path. Be that to be walked the next time around, or to change their current life drastically.
While the Emperor is the opposite. They have played their supporting role in the communities for a long time as the Empress, taking care of people, trying to keep things in balance. Then they were raised to lead in there, as the Emperor. At the next step to do that in connection to spirituality and the Hierophant, the highest position one can do in a community, although of course, to be able to see that one may need to look at India or the East overall, as in western religions and movements, that may not be so easy to see.
What is left... The magician vs the High Priestess should be clear by now. Again same thing, he moves in a individual way to sort out the Astral influences, while she is doing the same in a community way, high priestess is a job turned to people, usually, while magicians rarely are very connected to helping people, as usual for the two pillars and what we covered so far.
The Hanged Man is the path of the connection to our true self with Tifered, to the seeds of our path and its Images at Binah. To follow our path, we may have to sacrifice stuff, if our self connects to what we are suppose to do, that requires... Some stuff to be let go off, other stuff from far away to maybe be sougth, it requires movement and with that come changes.
Temperance is just what one would need to be able to move from a Emperor that is purely human level leading figure, to a spiritual leading functions at the Sephirot above.
