Is Llewellyn's Classic Tarot (NOT mini) available for sale in USA, and I'm just bad at shopping?
Insignificator replied to Insignificator's topic in Tarot Decks
Okay I found the deck labeled as something else. It is included with this book: Tarot Made Easy: Tarot Your Way (073874820X) -
You're quoting me, but I never intended to buy this deck. I was just passing on information.
-
I wonder if any of you ended up buying this? I'm eyeing it on Amazon, and one reviewer complains about flimsy, low quality cardstock.

Hi, @fire cat pickles! Thanks as always! This week for me will be Botanica: A Tarot Deck About the Language of Flowers. I seem to keep getting flower-themed decks and not being satisfied. But I think this might be the keeper. I was attracted to the black backgrounds. It has glyphs for the card titles. And lovely black and gilded backs. Interestingly, the pips, and the crowns for the courts, are all different and are artifacts that relate to the meanings. For example, the wands in V Wands “are based on the Silver Rod of Manannan mac Lir, a Celtic hero god of the sea.” Obviously, I’ll be using the booklet a lot. So that should be interesting to explore, along with the plants/flowers, of course. Interview time! What is your most important characteristic? VI Swords, snuff box sea beans, Masai swords Seeds of the tree float from east Africa all the way to Asia and Australia. The deck is very clever and covers a lot of plants and parts of the world. What is your strength? IX Swords, poppies, Greek swords used for sacrifices The deck covers negative cards well. And is calming. Your weakness? Star, jasmine It can be intoxicating, calling attention to its beauty, taking away from its good ideas and attributions. What can you teach me? Sun, sunflower The deck can teach me all about everything good, warm, and open. How can I learn it? V Wands, thistle, silver rod of Manannan mac Lir The wands look like silver wands with gold apples attached. I shouldn’t worry if learning the deck is a bit of a struggle. It will be worth it for the sunny outcome. What will be the outcome of our work together? Q Wands, huluppu tree, crown of Inanna Inanna is the goddess who puts the hero Gilgamesh to work clearing her trees of demons. I will feel strong enough to use this unconventional deck. Sun and Star in the first reading (and the card I used as an example)? Sounds good to me! -

I can't find the full sized deck new for sale, including with Google Shopping. And I can't find the full sized version on the publisher website. I see the Mini for sale everywhere, but not the full sized deck. What am I missing? BTW I did see that it's available as a separate Fool's Dog app. I still want the physical deck. -

Yeah, well, I've been pre-ordering them on Amazon.com since the last time (in 2022, I think?), both sets cost me twice as much because of import taxes, customs, and the conversion to Canadian dollars. It was way too expensive. I've never had a problem with Amazon and they always arrive on time.

I used riffleohdammit last night with my Tarot of Magical Correspondences deck. It’s slippery! edit: Sorry to hear about your deck! It’s great that you have a backup.
-
I have what I think of as the "Frog-Pond Randomizer." Whenever I try to riffle, I don't get one or two jumpers, I get a whole frog-pond of 'em, all over the floor.

Welcome back @Mondaygirl Glad you found us again 😀

Hello 👋🏾 I’m getting back into it too. Nice to see you around. Hope you have a lot of fun getting back into tarot!

Welcome to the community @AshleyWilliams78 😀

Thank you! That’s great to hear. I’m excited to be back! I have gained roughly 30 decks since I was last here 😁 Can’t wait to gather more knowledge (and probably decks).
-
Hello @Mondaygirl great to have you back. Once you have 5 posts you can post everywhere. So far you already have 3. And each post - not new thread - counts. 🤗

Hello all! I joined years ago, and I fell out of love with the tarot for a while. I’m getting back into it, though, and I’m looking forward to reading lots and hopefully posting too. 💕

Weird - it didn't' appear on the LS site so I bought one from amazon too.

I just thought I'd share a deck randomizing technique I discovered tonight when using my Gold Foil deck. I don't know where to I'd had quite a long day because we have guests for the weekend. I was tired and I spilled some water on the floor. After cleaning the water up I went about my day for a couple more hours. Then----horror stricken---I noticed that the bag with my Star deck had been lying on the floor where I didn't see it and all the cards were totally saturated . I picked it up but it may not be salvageable. Good thing I have another one packed away. , Then I took out my Gold Foil deck and sat down to riffle the Gold Foil a few times, but when I did that the first riffle, the 10 second randomizer was born. My first thought was that I wished it would have been the one that got wet. But I wasn't very energetic for picking up the slippery plastic cards so here's what I named it: Riffleohdammit---guaranteed 10 second deck randomizer for the Gold Foil deck. Overhand is more manageable with this deck even though it's easy to riffle.

Do You Use a Surface Pad or a Cloth to Do Your Readings On?
Fairy666tale replied to RickInBakersfield's topic in Tarot Talk & Technique
I usually put the cards on my old oak wood table. Just because it's convenient, honestly... It's a salon table and I can sit on the soft carpet while doing the reading. But I only do readings for myself, so I don't need anything that's easy to bring somewhere else (imagine dragging a solid oak wood table around😆). I am planning on bringing the deck along on future solo motorcycle trips, and do readings in nature. But I could just use the bike's saddle, then (it's quite flat). -
23: Libra 3 (4 of Swords)
JoyousGirl replied to Rose Lalonde's topic in Decan Walk 2025/26's The Decan Posts
I am thinking of 4 as a square foundation - a sort of platform that we move forward from. Interestingly, or not, I pulled the 4 of Swords from my beloved Arcus Arcanum deck today. The card shows a man seated among 4 of his ancestors' suits of armour and he's processing his thoughts. I feel it's like he's going through a movie of his life in his mind, the steps he shoulda-coulda taken, the people he knew etc. This is a really contemplative and calm place and space he's in, but he's here because he had a setback. He's got to sift through the possibilities that remain for him and what to do next. I love the sensibility of the book meaning: He has had a setback. He has come to his senses. He is in a solitary decision making process, a decision that no-one else can help make for him. This marries nicely with Justice as a sort of sifting and balancing (past and future), and the Wheel of Fortune (past and future). -
LOL at this point, ALL decks are impossible to shuffle with the arthritis hands 🙄 But, yes, Lightseers is particularly annoying to shuffle--but i still use it. Also Tarot H'arts. Same issue. The cards are too big and they want to stick together. I also use this deck but under protest. LOL I amlost gave it away from shuffle frustration--but in the end kept it b/c i do enjoy reading with it.
-
Personally I could not read that deck b/c I ignore celebrities and know nothing about them. But this possibly evokes a renaissance tradition where some of the courts or majors of tarocchi decks were characters from popular lore, mythology, commedia dell'arte and whatnot. Similar concept--people would know something about the card b/c they knew the character portrayed.
