I had a look through at some of your recent photo posts and the cards are more vertical than horizontal in sizing. Standard tarot cards tend to be tall and thin, rather than wider in their shape. The forum seems to really want to turn them into a vertical column. I had a go with one post at dragging them around the post, but didn't save it at the end, just had a go at experimenting with it. You can move the photos around and drag them but the forum really doesn't seem to put them in a line. I think this is something where you have to change the sizes, like make them smaller in display size and maybe it will put them next to each other in a row. If you click on a pic in the post, you can change the size of the photo in the post (and people can click for the full size). It's an automatic displaying by the forum and I found it really tricky to make them a row. It really wants to make them longwise, there isn't an easy solution for this one I'm afraid.

I will post more if I should notice anything. Making room on my bookshelf now

Hi, everyone! I hope all is well with you! This week will be Arcana Folia Oracle Deck, another new acquisition. It’s a sweet, pretty, round deck. It doesn’t call out specific flowers or flower meanings, they’re just design elements, so I haven’t categorized it under plants. It has the item name plus a short “advice” phrase on each card. I was thinking of it more as a sibilla, but maybe not because of the advice. It might work as a spread deck. 50 cards. We’ll see what it can do this week. First the interview! What is your most important characteristic? Lock, Something is hidden or locked. The deck will be able to show me things I’m not aware of yet. What is your strength? Celebration, Enjoy your victories with others. The deck is generally positive and recommends social emotional outlets. Your weakness? Time, Trust in divine timing. It’s not good with timing readings. Also maybe the “divine” thing might get on my nerves. What can you teach me? Detour, Change course. It can teach me about change. How can I learn it? Mindset, Find a different perspective. And how to change. What will be the outcome of our work together? Joy, Enjoy the little things. It’s small and pretty, which will bring me joy in the little things. Ok, sounds good to me!

About the Moon: sometimes, it helps to interpret the night aspect of the Moon. The intuition and wisdom of the Moon are represented by the High Priestess, and the dark, hidden, confusing, dreamlike, illusionary aspect by the Moon. So sometimes, I call it Night just to make that clear to myself. Another card I re-named for myself (better: added a second name, like an auxiliary verb) is Death. I often call it compost - something has gone off, has turned from something nourishing into something toxic, and you have to get it out of your house and onto the compost heap. (Where it will become, much later, clean, shapeless, nourishing soil again where new things can grow). In the RWS, I find the Five and Seven of Swords difficult to interpret for others because of the sneakiness aspect, and it can be difficult to find the right words without making the querent defensive. I find them also quite similar visually, but the Five is more like a Pyrrhus victory and you regret later, and the Seven tells you that you taking unfair advantages over others. Other decks give their own interpretations, which can make the message clearer (or not ;-) ). Another pair of cards that I found difficult because they are too similar were the Two and Three of Wands. They are both cards of determination, goal-setting and putting your energy into something. Focusing on the images, I could see that the Two is the earlier stage; the figure just stands there and thinks and lays out their plans. In the Three, they are making their move. So I solved that, but I remember that when I started working with the RWS, I found that confusing. I was used to the Thoth where each card has such a speficic aesthetic, such a "feeling of place" that it's easier to read. Going back to the Moon and Death cards - I guess my own auxiliary names for them were inspired by the Thoth as well.

I have two faves: The Hermit and the Star. The Hermit because I strongly identify with it. 😌 The Star because, in most decks, it's a very pretty card. 😳

Temperance! This card is so important to me. I see myself in the Empress, and the Star is an aspirational card for me. I also love the Death card. In the minors, I really like the Nine of Pentacles and Four of Wands. If I had to pick only one? Temperance.

No.1 ~ is The Priestess, because I find her peaceful & meditative, & aspire to be one. Then 2 ~ I love the hope of The Star - & the reminder of Nut, the Sky Goddess of anciet Egypt who holds back chaos from the earth..., (I'll just add that right now we could reallly do with more of that 🤪) And this also: Q:"And where shall we find religion?" A:"Beneath the open sky. The crystal sphere of silence is surcharged with Deity. The midnight earth, sends incense up - sweet with the breath of prayer... Go out beneath the naked night - & get religion there!". ~ Sam Walter Foss. No.3 ~ I feel a comraderie with The Devil who always nudges me to lighten up. Last, but not least, 4 ~ The Queen of Swords - who's boldness I wish I inherently had.

I read with reversals when I feel like it 🙃. ...now - presently I haven't access to my Tarot files & neither can I access my memory because I'm on holiday & everything is a bit fluffy 🫠 - so hopefully someone will chime in here & be clearer... There is a contraction of some of the ways that you can read reversals.... is it W.I.N.D...? I is Inverted (the upside-down or opposite meaning), N is Negated (i.e. No it's not happening or present) D is Delayed...(the meaning is delayed in real time)... I can't remember the rest 🤣 & I'm going back to my holiday brain now.

I love the artwork on devil cards and I relate to temperance as a lifestyle.

I don't read reversals. Not because I think they are difficult or make the reading confusing, but because I don't think reading reversals is necessary if I am careful about what each position in a spread stands for. We've had lots of discussions about this topic here. Have you done a search? Here are two threads with a variety of responses that you might find interesting: Do you read with reversals? - Poll If You Don't Use Actual Card Reversals, How do You Know When To Read Them As Reversed?

I use reversals probably about 95% of the time, although it does depend a bit on the deck I'm using. (Some decks just don't seem to lend themselves to reversals, for some reason.) However, I usually read reversals as either 'the quality of the upright card is reversed' or 'the quality of the upright card is missing—but the missing is an important factor in the reading.' I never read reversals as an intensification or diminishment of the original meaning. That really muddies the water for me. I think some people are reluctant to try using reversals because they believe that means they must learn another 78 meanings! However, once you learn the original 78 meanings, all you need to do is decide what the opposite of those meanings are, when reversals come up. Or how the reading is affected if the quality of the upright card is missing. Simple example: 3 of cups upright: I'm going to enjoy it (have fun) when I meet up with friends this week 3 of cups reversed: I am not going to enjoy it (no fun at all) when I meet up with friends this week. (reversed) or 3 of cups reversed: I was expecting to meet up with friends, but it's not going to happen this week (missing) Cards usually contain more than one potential upright meaning, and the above is just a very simple example. But the principle behind the reversals is the same, whatever meaning seems to matter. Reversals mean you don't have to guess whether a card's main meaning or its shadow meaning is in play. I feel it's a much more straightforward way to read cards, as it eliminates some of the guesswork—especially if you are reading for somebody you don't know. If you're psychic, you probably don't need reversals ...but I certainly am not! Mind you, if you're psychic you probably don't need cards at all. 😀
