Hi, @Crystalsandcards Welcome to the forum! You say you've been studying for the past 7 months or so. Is that tarot you've been studying? Maybe crystals as well? Is there anything in particular you wanted to 'find' here on the forum? The setup can be a bit intimidating at first, although...fear not! ...the folks here are very kind and helpful. BTW, I'm also in the UK ...Scotland. So we're in the same time zone.

Welcome and good luck! I know next to nothing about Essex, except for the alleged descent from the Old Norse/Anglo-Saxon god Seaxneat, the activity of St. Cedd and the alleged prevalence of chavs. Old county Essex was eaten by Greater London in the last few generations, wasn't it?

Thank you for the clarification! English isn't my first language either, and I can see the familiar situation when an English word resembles a word one is more familiar with, but with another sense.

I recently tried the Celtic cross in my last class however as a newbie recalling these positions is quite daunting. I have in my basket a table cloth with the Celtic cross i will try for practice. Are there any other mats or cloths with different spreads available as a tool to get confidence?

Hi Everyone! I'm Jessie from the Pacific Northwest US. I bought my first real tarot deck, Tarot of the Spirit, in 1995 when I was 21, although I've been dabbling in cartomancy since middle school. I was a pretty active collector from around 1999-2009, before I had a kid and a mortgage and found myself with neither the spare cash nor the spare time to keep that up. I'm much more selective these days, with a preference for colorful and nature-based decks. I enjoyed keeping up with world of tarot on Insta, Tarot Tube, and reddit.

It'll develop, and you do not strike me as the type to ignore it when it does. You'll detect a principle or a set of them at work behind the stuff you "play", and you'll see it with your own eyes, and that will enrich your practice - that's how it was for each of us. About your dear voice: It's a good one, from my perspective, and I want that to be known. Why I'm a tad bit on the fence here is for in reading cards, strict adherence simply doesn't do the job in the long run, it falls short inadvertedly, and when it does, it does so nasty, and that goes no matter how good the material adhered to. Some end up abandoning the cards altogether, locking the journey away like some trauma, which need not be if playfulness is there from the start - which doesn't mean being cheeky or disrespectful. You can easily go overboard from freedom, too, but whatever it is, it withers without. And for a reader to truly be nourished by their craft, it needs to have them in there, present and true as they are, and that's a job one can only do oneself. Additionally, it is a job that needs to be done - and for whatever trouble it may invite in the beginning, given that your heart is true in its desire to learn, it is still worth it considered how hard it'll be to do later on, for it'll regularly introduce itself nasty. Like, nasty. I'd rather not come around preachy here but if that is so, it is so - I've been thinking "If only..." on this matter far too often in hindsight to leave it unadressed. Also, there's an additional issue concerning Andy's books: There is this strange phenomenon happening that after one got published, Andy's pop up left 'n right. If he ain't some species of mushroom, being that Andy can only be done by @timtoldrum. I am not too sure if that is the kind of surge he wants his books to create - If it is, it's well hidden, to date they certainly did not read like that.

I have had tarot cards for many years now. Never really figured out how they worked really. But have a background in IT and website deployment as well as systems backup and maintenance. So with that background I created a project on Github. Don't know if I am allow to post a link to it?? Anyway, I learn through doing and this has given me food for thought. I used some of the classical methods that I scrapped from the information on the Golden Dawn and Alister Crowley. Ai did the rest. I know that some of you probably hate AI, and I completely understand. But as I said learn from doing and a bit lazy... Anyway thought I would come check out some communities, so here I am.

Please leave the word "clubs" behind at this point, I feel like it's being hyperfixated on. A study group can be run in a group quite efficiently. Here is the example: https://www.thetarotforum.com/clubs/19-example-reading-group/ You can have it made public so folks don't have to join it to talk in there, but it's as easy as clicking a button. The owner doesn't matter, but perhaps somebody who would like to organize it a little bit to add different "sub-forums" (see the menu in the example. I
