Hello Do you think that Tarot de Marseille and Rider Waite have different sets of meanings -specially minor arcana- coming each one from two different schools, French and Anglo-Saxon? IF so, in your opinion what are the main differences between both decks? By the way, I a, also interested in knowing what are the most classical and deep books on Tarot de Marseille, and Rider Waite. Thanks

Hey there. Newbie here. When learning and studying cards some sources have some variations in card meanings. When you're learning to read and interpret the cards do you tend to stick to one source of meanings for consistency, the source that resonates the most with the current spread of the cards and questions asked, intuition of what definitions resonates with you, or something else entirely? I'm currently learning with my ~25 year old Rider Waite Tarot Deck and I find, primarily in the lesser arcana, some differences on interpretation between the booklet that comes with the deck and more modern sources.

Hello, I hope you're all well. I'm new here, rather new to reading myself, not too new for Tarot generally (I've had a reader I've been talking to for the past 7 years). Currently going through overly-emotional stuff and my mind tends to keep going to do the same place (relationships... I'm sure we've all been there?). My reader has been giving me some great future predictions about it (which is rare for me when it comes to heart matters), but the current / past is quite difficult and not getting much easier. I've opened a Celtic Cross on it myself (I use the RW deck) 2-3 weeks ago after seeing the guy because I felt a really strong instinct to, I go…

Hi guys :) The last couple of days I have been using the RWS-deck - and I have been getting Nine of Pentacles sooo many times. For me that cards means that I'm moving towards a goal. I'm not there yet - but I'm moving slow. Yesterday I used Tarot of the Cat People - and got Nine of Pentacles again! But in that card it feels like I'm at my goal - I have reached it. (You can see the card on Google here: https://www.google.dk/search?q=tarot+of+the+cat+people+nine+of+pentacles&tbm=isch&imgil=kLIZGn9awOI3EM%253A%253BQourBg-iu0lcZM%253Bhttps%25253A%25252F%25252Fwww.pinterest.com%25252Fbethbillh%25252Fcats-in-tarot-tarot-of-the-cat-people%25252F&source=iu…

I am reading a lot about tarot and the cards and one thing I have noticed is that in certain books or websites you will get a different meaning to the cards. For example, I did a three card reading on a situation in my life: A friendship I ended. The last few days that person has been on my mind a lot so I did a three card reading: Card 1: The problem in front of you, Judgment Card 2: What needs to change, 4 of wands Card 3: How do you change it 4 of cups For me this reading means: The judgement card: The judgement card tells me that nick and bruises are a part of life and I need to let the sun shine in and accepting the…

I'd be interested to hear people's thoughts on this please, as a newbie trying to figure all this out! I am learning with the RWS. I really like the imagery and feel it's assisting with my learning. I have a few other Tarot decks which I bought predominantly for the imagery, but want to build my relationship with the RWS first and feel more comfortable with the card meanings before branching out. Out of curiosity though, I compared The Fool card from the RWS with the one from the Starchild Tarot (Akashic version), which is called 'Starseed' in that deck. Whilst the meanings from the Starchild LWB are similar as it's based on the RWS system, from ju…

Hi All, I'm in this forum for the first time. I have been in the tarot topic for over half a year now. When I first received my tarot reading - I did not like it - I changed the path of my life, thoughts and I started meditation, visualisations and so on. After 3-4 months, I had another readings and it seemed that i changed my "former destiny". I did not ask the same questions, but yes - I was talking about the same topic, but in close cooperation with the tarot card readers who used different cards and we did not ask the same questions. I talked to 3 people or even 4. The results they gave were practically the same and they gave almost the same time for the fulfillme…

When I read for myself I feel confident that I and the cards both know what and who we are taking about, and the answers come out coherent to my situation. But when I read for others it seems I might just be reading for myself again... I've read for myself countless times but only read a handful of times for friends. I was never able to feel sure that the answers matched their situation, and twice it actually seemed obvious that the cards ended up referring to my situation, not theirs. When I read for others I think about them and their questions. I've tried letting them shuffle and cut, or shuffling myself letting them cut. The querents have all been my frie…

Hello! Ive been watching tarot videos for a really long time and when I see them on tik tok they always feel so accurate. So I decided to try and learn tarot card meanings. I watched different videos on youtube about all 78 cards and it started clicking. So now, when I see a card I can somewhat understand the general meaning. But when I decided to ask a specific question I had no idea whats the meaning of the 10 of pentacles regarding love. Any tips about what to do next?

I wonder how many people here take direction of a card imagine into consideration. For example if two court cards are next to each other but the people are facing away from each other rather than looking at each other, do you use this in your interpretation? Or do you rely solely on the position, e.g. past - there was someone like the Knight, future there will be someone like the Knight. The reason I ask is because it's the one thing that messes with me a little when it comes to decks where the person in the court card is facing front on - I feel like I might be lacking some information. For example, in the Knight of Wands pictured below, the Knight's facial e…

Do you guys have a habit of exploring the meaning of dreams with tarot? (here I come again with my questions 😜) I usually ask about what a certain dream wants to tell me and I have had great experiences. My question this time will be more specific and involves a spiritual belief: if you believe in astral travel, how do you differentiate - with tarot - imaginative dreams (fruits of your desire) from those involving astral experiences? When I ask the cards about the nature of a dream and am given arcana like the Magician (magic power, "as well as below, above"), the Chariot/just like knights (vehicles, transport, displacement), Temperance (wings, power of flight…

Came across this in a bookstore, looked pretty fun. "Divine your dinner", basically a tarot cookbook with a recipe for each card.

Has anyone else made their own diy decks and how well did they work out for you? I made a mini italian cartomancy deck out of posterboard and while accurate I just couldn't bond with it the way I have with mass produced decks that I owned. Does that mean I did something wrong??

If so, how do you handle it? Even though I know my cards meanings and I like to think I can "deliver the goods", so to speak. I still get somewhat nervous. How have you overcome this feeling? I know there is a difference between nervous and being apprehensive...but what are your thoughts and comments on this? Rick,

I'm posting this here in Tarot, but actually the subject could be related to any oracle. I have been debating a lot the actual usefulness of daily readings. I see them being recommended as a form of practice to get more used to certain oracle and, ideally, I can understand how it works. If you use a language everyday you'll become more fluent, more able to discern subtleties in communication etc. My idea when doing daily readings has always been to exercise that. However... in all my times doing daily readings, past and present, I have found them to be very difficult to interpret properly. The times I got something accurate were also times in which…

Do our desires only influence the interpretation of the reading or can they also influence the drawing of cards? For example: I really want to pass an exam. In a reading, draw very favorable cards related to approval. What I want to know from you guys is: while I know that my strong desire can influence how I analyze this result (I want to see my approval, therefore I see it - confirmation bias), can desire also pull favorable cards that do not correspond to the true situation? even if it's a blind draw? Influence of the subconscious? If so, is it really possible to do a neutral reading (mainly for ourselves)?

In the Reading for Those in the Public Eye thread I mentioned that I had to reframe questions like "Does Johnny love me?" so I am not invading one's privacy. I took this advice from a couple of tarot books (I won't name the writers of the books here), and it seems that a few of the experienced readers who are members of this forum said, well one said they would lose 50% of their clients if they didn't take those questions and another reader said they take those questions because it would be nice to have food & electricity in one's home lol. Everything I know about Tarot comes from books that I have read. I would be interested in th…

I've heard that the Tarot is a subtle but elaborate cartomantic system that is better-suited to address questions that require deep insight. It prefers to give detailed, nuanced, and oftentimes layered answers. As such, I've read that it does not perform well when used on questions that require the use of direct Yes/No spreads that feature straightforward card interpretations like majors are Yes, courts are No, etc. For this reason, I haven't really used the Tarot for Yes/No questions. Which I think is a bit of a shame since many queries can be reduced to straight Yes/No affairs. Will I have an SO next year? Will I get the job I desire? Will my stalker ever stop? Will …

When another tarot reader reads for you, do you usually add new meanings to the reading? For example, I will mention a personal experience: I ordered a New Year's reading for myself with a professional tarot reader - I prefer to have someone else read for me, on certain occasions, so that I am not biased - In the predictions for my health, he mentioned the Justice card and interpreted it beautifully. When reflecting on this card, I remembered that, within my tarot studies, Justice (with its scales that measure everything) can indicate the prediction of exams, such as blood counts, etc. In this case, I received the printed reading, without any dialogue with the reader.…

Do you put your Tarot/Oracle/Lenormand/etc decks to the test? Do you try to see if they're accurate by using them to predict events that are of no import to you like the winner in a tennis match for example, or who would win in a reality show, or who will ultimately survive in a slasher flick? For some readers this is just par for the course. For others it is a bit disrespectful, like you are using the cards for trivial things or you don't fully trust them.

Is the tarot a predetermined oracle or does one believe they have a free will? I've heard both points of view and I am not sure what to believe. Do you tell your sitter that the future is set in stone? What are your thoughts on this? Simple question. Just curious?

Tarot often shows up in dreams for me, sometimes just as a reading being part of the dream, sometimes as the scene I'm in being straight out of a deck, sometimes just a card floating to me that I pocket and just keep going in dreamland... Most recent was a pretty realistic dream of giving a reading to a girl who's just been dumped and using a spread of my own creation that looks at the relationship and lessons. It just slipped right to the last cards, a Future card for each of them, where she got The Tower and he had Death, which seemed pretty pertinent toa breakup. It's left me enjoying mulling over the similarities and differences between the two cards. Tarot dre…
