Hey all! I have a question to raise to all This is in NO way a criticism - just my contemplations I have been reading here on the forum for quiet some time - and I see myself as a rather good reader- I am not Super psychic but I feel I can attune quiet well to the questions plus have a rich inner world when doing interpretations. Now, my issue is that when people ask questions they don't ( usually) provide much information- which means that ALL I get are the cards- now many a times I create a narrative which is plausible to me - only to discover that when applied to the life of the querent it has different meanings- details I knew nothing about- so basical…

I’m thinking of maybe getting a new deck in the new year and was thinking that the beauty of the back of the card is every bit a part of the experience as having great details and beauty on the front of a card. Besides, most tarot deck references show card faces and not card backs as examples. Does anyone know one that shows both? Does anybody have a favorite card back they’d like to share? Thanks!

Hi, I'm fairly new to tarot reading, although I've owned my deck for 20 years. I recently decided to delve in deeper. I've been reading spreads that show a fulfilling relationship in my future, but there is a fog over whether this is a reconciliation or not. I do keep seeing reconciliation as a suggestion, but I'm not sure if this is my own bias or not. Can anyone recommend a specific spread to help me clarify whether this relationship is new or reconciled. Thank you.

Once I had someone ask me if they should kill themselves following the death of this woman’s husband. She had no one else in the world and she lived in a remote place....here in the desert SW. I told her that I wasn’t in the position to tell her that, but that I could understand her situation. In retrospect, I realize it would’ve been wise to have rolled the cards and engaged in a dialog to see if something more might have come of it. Also, I’ve dealt with depression, anxiety and being very sensitive, so I could empathize and I definitely couldn’t’ judge her for thinking what, in her situation, was a pretty well thought out, rational thought. Has anyone else had a …

I have seen a few blogs here and there where they answer prompts with their cards, for writing. Does anyone here do that? Do you use a list of prompts? A certain deck?

It's been two weeks (at least) since a tower moment happened to me. I anticipated that moment (had a reading previously where I was told that I will lose something (5oC rx) because I just went with the flow, did nothing, let it be (hangedman rx). For weeks, I have been thinking is it really me who didn't exert anything? I specifically asked that if I took action, will it be in my favor and 60-70 percent of the cards said yes. Well, that is all water under the bridge now. I asked for a three card outcome/advice on whether now that I freed myself, goodthings will happen to me. Will I regret it in the future and got Devil, 4 of cups and 3 of wands. I was addicted and c…

I'm sure there are going to be lots of differing opinions on this but I thought it'd be fun to discuss! What's your opinion on using a phone app to read Tarot cards verses using the actual cards themselves? Personally, I love the feel of tarot cards and I enjoy shuffling them (the sound and the feel is so therapeutic!) and using them but there are times when it is hard to get my cards out and use whereas it is much easier to find a quiet space and use my phone. I don't find it effects my ability to read the cards or to use my intuition but I can see both sides of the argument for and against them. The only caveat I have with using an app is I like to have option…

Okay, I know there is a Journals part of the forum, but I thought this may be better palced here? Seeing as that is for keeping a journal. I have a physical journal I keep. I was wondering if anyone else does? If you do what all do you keep in it? Daily draws? Have a list of spreads? Do you prefer lined or unlined? How often do you use it? How did you pick it? I only keep personal readings in my journal. I have another where I put ones I've done for others. I don't have a list of spreads, but I do have a few that I have done and liked or want to try. I haven't done too many daily draws, but I plan on starting and keeping up with them. I like unlined as…

For those of you who like Doug's tarots at Duck Soup. He is going to be putting up on Kickstarter a new tarot called The Crooked Way. It's a dark gothic style tarot. Looks to be very interesting if you like this style. You can see pics on his website below. http://www.tarotbyducksoup.com/

I was just wondering how many of you have dealt with doubt re: your metaphysical pursuits? Spiritual things have always been a big part of my life, but there’ve been so many times I’ve stopped myself with doubt...then keep coming back. Some of my happiest times have been when I’ve embraced things—when I was into astrology as a kid, when I read palms in my 20’s...yet there’s a scientific side of me that opposes all this and knows a lot of the world has valid reasons to doubt it, too. Another striking time came when I’d gone back to tarot in my 30’s and a lady came to me for a reading, specifically, she wanted to know if she should commit suicide following the painful …

I just want to share the readings I have involving this card when it comes to relationships and wish to see if we all have similarities. I have three significant readings made for friends where I observed and realized what the devil card means. Since then, I feel like I had a better understanding of this card. I have to note that when I do readings with a sitter face-to-face, I don't ask what their question is all about. I let the cards show/tell me what's going on their mind. I use a total of 5 decks (illuminated tarot, RW, Earth oracle, Angel Answer Oracle and Lover's tarot) in one sitting. I know it's weird, but I better understand each situation this way. First…

It's that time of year once again. :D The Sacred Days of Yule reading thread is set up in the Lunar and Sabbat Group Readings forum. This is a lovely reading over 12 days and a wonderful way to make a bit of time for yourself in a busy season. Open to any level or reader and any decks, these are readings we do/post for ourselves and share our experience with the group. https://www.thetarotforum.com/group-readings/sacred-days-of-yule-2018/

I’m new to Tarot Reading, but my road to reading has not been straightforward. I’m super practical, very sceptical, and not inclined to much that’s rather “alternative”... but I have also inherited my family’s kenning, and it’s been something I’ve kind of hidden from everyone because my immediate family don’t believe in that all. I got a pack of Tarot cards recently to help channel my kenning, and it’s helped. I’ve been getting really strong readings since I started, and they all make perfect sense. Like, my cards read me the riot act, harsh truths, but they’re honest - a lot like me, really, and I appreciate the advice. However, because of my sceptical side, there’s b…

The 5 of cups is a card of loss, sorrow, and regret. Here are a few positive ways to spin it if it comes up in your reading. The traditional positive spin on this card is that even though three of the cups have fallen over and tipped out their contents, two cups remain upright and full. Even in your loss, you still have something to hold on to. To make your reading even more positive when this card shows up, remember that it's the things that truly matter that will last the test of time. Jobs, material things, and shallow relationships will come and go, but true love, genuine friendship, and close family ties will always remain. Hold tightly to these in your times…

How did you get started in tarot? I’ve tried on numerous occasions since age 11 and it just hasn’t been a good fit. I started with RW, at one point had a teacher who insisted on Thoth—not a good energy fit for me, and now I’m back on a lark....I had a dream of the Star card out of the blue, after about 15 years since I’d put tarot on the back burner. Now I’m journaling with Labyrinthos and I’m finding it enjoyable, revealing and cathartic. Now I’m in the process of trying to pick out a deck (I only have 3 decks, RWS, RW Universal and the Lovers Tarot) and trying to learn as much as possible. I know I should dip my toe into trying one card readings, but I don’t feel I…

I’m considering getting the Golden Thread tarot, but first I wanted to see if anyone around here has it and could answer a few questions about it. Thanks so much! Rarehare

Hi, I’ve found a deck I like working with online (probably a present to myself soon <3) and I’d like to work with a journal. The primary one that comes to mind is Mary Greer’s Tarot for Yourself, so I was wondering...which journals have you enjoyed using and which have been most productive/instructional? Thanks!

The 5 of Pentacles is an extremely frightening card, one that no one ever wants to see come up in their reading. Here are some ways to put a positive spin on it if it does come up (based on the RWS card). The first spin focuses on the church that the two people are passing by. Most interpretations I've read say that they're overlooking the help that's available to them. But maybe they're not walking away from the church, but walking toward it, heading for warmth, shelter, and a good hot meal. So if you get this card, know that whatever your situation, there are people out there who care and want to help you. Reach out and accept their help, and come in from out of…

Do others choose decks to use, based on season or based on feelings at the time? Also any good deck recommendations for this time of year winter? I'm using wild wood tarot at the moment.

This was a tough one, but I managed to come up with a couple of themes for the RWS 5 of Swords that will help to put a positive spin on it if comes up in your reading. The first theme is conquest. Not as in domination over others, but conquering the obstacles in your life. The man in the foreground represents this positive spin. Sure, he looks a little smug, but maybe he has a right to be. Maybe he's conquered an illness, addiction, financial problems, or his own insecurities or negative thinking. His red hair suggests that he's "fired up" and ready to move forward. The second theme is surrender. Sometimes, no matter how much you struggle, you're just fighting…

I recently saw this video by Kelly-Ann: and it really spoke to me. I have already been combining lots of different decks both in my readings and in my magic/rituals. But I usually have some sort of spread or pre-determined layout for my cards (even if they're only laid out in a straight line). So her method gave me some new inspiration and I am definitely going to try incorporating some of her techniques in my practice! Here are some of the key factors in her method: - You use multiple decks (tarot and/or oracle decks), and preferably decks in different sizes and shapes to make it more visually appealing. - You lay out your cards face down in an intuitive pattern…

So yes then, Tomorrow I get through my Student Loan yeeeeh, and I want the tarot people on here to recommend me their favourite books on the cards. I intend to buy a few to keep me going through the long winter months. "78 Degrees" is one I'm definitely ordering at midnight tonight when the zeros will become a distant memory in my bank account. My interests are tarot & the kabbalah; Jung-ist influenced tarot; psychology and tarot; tarot magic & talisman; Golden Dawn influenced tarot book; and of course ye olde symbolism. But i'm open to anything, although bare in mind i'm pretty much a beginner so nothing too complex...although i did read the Book of Tho…

About a week (?) ago, I realised that my Tower card had gone missing. It’s the Radiant RWS deck in a Tin. It’s small and I like to shuffle it for fun when I’m stressed out (like a stress ball, without being disrespectful—I figured it’s a nice way to bond with it). So I did the usual count for fun (laid them in piles of 10’s and an 8) and realised there’s only 77 of them! Then checked which suit of the minors or which major? And... Dun-dun-duuuunnnn~ It’s the Tower card! ⚡️ Now I almost wish it might’ve flown into my rubbish bin in my room because now I’m afraid of finding it when I’m cleaning some day! Like, I feel like the day I find it will be the day …
