The best way to explain what I have in mind here is to insert part of a PM I sent to Aldor44 earlier today: "Your thread at https://www.thetarotforum.com/tarot-for-yourself/looking-for-fresh-perspective/ has raised many astonished questions and ideas for me, not only about your insightfully unusual interpretations of some of the cards, but about my own reading style and ability and indeed about Tarot itself. "To raise these concerns in your thread would be to hijack the thread to my own discussion and for my own needs. Instead, I would like to use it as a springboard for a thread of my own. I would like to quote you extensively and from the quotes develop lines of…

This card just continues to baffle me. I need a little help. Here's my understanding of it - A reserved, private young woman who is mysterious and possibly introverted. She has a lot of wisdom and hidden knowledge and only reveals this to ppl she trusts and feels safe with. She is feminine. She observes from afar. Is psychic and intuitive. She is pure. I'd like to relate this to astrology, but I'm finding this rather difficult. For instance, some sites say this card is Virgo, others say cancer and moon. Some say she is a virgin. Astrologically it gets confusing because the intuitive, psychic, and mystical side is more like Pisces and cancer, but the young introverte…

I'm curious if anyone has experience with a specific spread that they've found to be particularly helpful in showing them a path towards a particular goal? I've been using the Work Cycle, and I like it, and my results with it have been interesting but not quite the "clear path forward" that I'm hoping for when I use it. But maybe I just need to sit with it more.

I'm not talking about throwing down three cards for a quick past-present-future or anything like that, I'm talking about larger spreads we pre-defined positions. Right now I've got three that I'm comfortable with: the celtic cross, which I use if the question is focused on insight or understanding, Rachel Pollack's Work Cycle, which I use if the question is about "how do I get ..." or something like that, and a relationship spread I picked up in this forum. ;D I am working on my improvising around the spread. For example, I did a celtic cross for a friend last night and ended up, after we worked through it, pulling it down except for the outcome and possible outco…

Do you think it's necessary to have a lot of real life experiences to be able to read Tarot better? To see all the different possibilities and paths? The thing is, I have overprotective parents, I've never done things people my age has done and I'm lacking behind most people in terms of experience. I'm what you would call "book smart, but not street smart." So, unlike most Tarot readers, I don't understand the real world or real people well enough. I'm not good at giving advice on most topics because I, myself, don't have any experiences in those areas. I think this is a big obstacle for me in learning tarot and trying to read them from different perspectives. I kn…

Hello everyone Are there any decks that you're really attracted to, but you just can't get yourself to say yes to? Mine is the Crystal Visions Tarot. It's a beautiful deck, and it's on my wish list, but when it comes down to it, I just can't get myself to buy it. Are there any decks that you feel this way about?

Hello! I am new to the world of tarot. I was wondering, if I have a deck with a few bent cards, will it cause the reading to be inaccurate? Like, if a card happens to come out more often because it is bent, does it matter? I’ve seen people who use really old decks, so I assume you can. Just curious what others think.

first of all let me share that it was hardly anyone there for except for clients the readers who got bookings. :'( :( I did manage to do 4 readings , two for a healer, one for a medium, and one for their friend. but before I get to those.. the exchange of the healers since there was no books for many of the healers.. (we had pranic healing, energy healing, huna kane healing, tibetian bowl healing, reiki healing ) .. about 130.. one of them went to the other and said "I got no client can I get a smoosh ).. and I watched oh that is nice.. then all of the sudden, the pranic healer was getting huna kane,, the other haler was getting tibetian bowled, the hu…

Now I may not be able to explain this well....so I’ll understand if there are many questions before my question is answered..but does anyone do readings with success when the Moon is Void of Course? I’ve seen many different sides as to why one should or shouldn’t do readings while this is occuring. Just for the longest time I have kinda had it stuck in my head to never ever do readings during this time...whether the moon is void for a half hour, or for the whole day....but I’ve wanted to try and change my own opinion, and would like to help from people here (or maybe I’m right to be thinking this way). Here are two articles I’ve found, one of them being from a blog that …

I have a lot of tarot decks. Too many. They are glittering jewels. I want more of them but I must stop myself. Why all this craving for more? I asked my Psychic Oracle deck this morning if I should buy the Chakra Oracle deck and I got the Temptation card, (devil.) Aha. There we go. I must look at where my addictions in life are at this time. Is it food, money, gambling, sex, alcohol, drugs, work? Cards. I have an addiction to cards because I somehow think I will find the ONE. The ONE right deck just for me. The one that I will be able to psychically access at all times. The ONE that will never let me down. The truth is...a deck of cards is just, well...a deck of cards…

With the conversation about birth cards, I was thinking about the fact that your natal chart matches up directly with RWS and Thoth tarot cards. One way to see it is to use the free Hellenistic astrology software Morinus. Tell it to show the decans, and you can quickly see which tarot cards match which planets in your chart. (see the attached image) You can also do it with any modern online chart. You'd just use the degrees to calculate the decans. Anything in 0 - 10 degrees is the first decan (lowest numbered minor in that sign), 10 - 20 degrees is the middle decan, and 20 - 30 is the last. The attached image shows the natal chart (left) and associated tarot m…

Hi, everyone. I have a question about the standard Astrological associations of The Chariot and Temperance. Most Tarot books I've read associate The Chariot with Cancer and Temperance with Sagittarius. However, a few books suggest the reverse. This makes more sense to me, since Sagittarius traits such as courage, confidence, and a love of travel seem to fit well with the traditional meanings of The Chariot, while the Cancer qualities of a need for balance, love of harmony, and the desire to be a guide or healer match up with the traditional meanings of Temperance. Is it okay to go with the associations that make the most sense to me, or is it better to just go with…

We all know that 7 of cups means options, dreams, illusions and others of the same nature. I don't know why I don't want to read this particular card as illusion or dreams. Illusions, dreams are all manifestations of the mind. Isn't more of a swords thing since swords suit somehow relates to mind (thoughts.)? I always take this card as option.

recently ive been noticing some youtube videos about readings being made for certain zodiac sign, and it has made me wonder: how do they make the reading? ??? is there a spread they use? im curious ::)

So I recently got the Ethereal Visions Illuminated deck, and I love it. Really beautiful images that speak to me, overall. It's a RWS system deck, and mostly follows that. There are, as expected, a few cards which feel a little bit different than their traditional RWS counterparts. The five of swords, for example, lacks the sneering superiority of the RWS card, and instead feels sadder. Generally I incorporate those feelings into my readings. Some cards are a bit tricky, like the four of pentacles, which is so much more sensual than the RWS image - it's a very different love of money kind of card, but I think I can work with it fine. The Moon just takes a complet…

Hi everyone Yesterday's brief discussion (in "any suggestions for bright decks") of the World Spirit Tarot's "Baby Nixon" Sun card got me thinking: what are some cards that make you say "what were they thinking when they came up with that ? "

you must of heard by now.. that you add the numbers up eh ? aka 10 becomes 1,, 11, becomes 2 ,, 19 becomes 10, and becomes one. you can read about the mandelas in tarot constellatiions by mary k greer. I was reading I think forest of souls at the time.. by racheal Pollack,, and the fool as 22 yet also 0. and I thought to myself 2-2 makes 0. and some light bulb went off above my head,, big beam of light came donw and shook my body (joking about the last part ). I reasoned that if the hermit makes things move,, by adding.. would I work by subtracting ? aka 11 becomes 0 , 1-1 . 12 becomes 1 2-1 13 becomes 2 , 3-1 14 becomes 3 , 4-1 !!? a…
