How do you cut your deck guys? What I do: I shuffle my deck, then I cut it by using my left hand. I consider the card at the bottom of my 1st pack, then I return the 2nd pack and consider the card at the bottom of this 2nd pack. Is it the way you do that? I saw that some people don't look at the card at the bottom of the 2nd pack, but the card at the top of the 2nd pack (which is the card that is just after the one at the bottom of the 1st pack). Of course we can cut and just consider 1 card, the one at the bottom of the 1st pack, but when you want 2 cards, what is the "right" way to do that? For my daily recently I cut to have 2 car…

Hi, I'm quite new to Tarot and my journey I have decided to start with reading as much is possible and learn and meditate on cards. I want to use Tarot for self-development and finding more about my inner spirit and how to become a better person. I'm using Rider & Waite deck. The books I have read so far includes: Alejandro Jodorowsky - The Way of Tarot 78 Degrees of Wisdom by Rachel Pollack Meditation on Tarot Ultimate Guide to Rider Waite Tarot Any further reading recommendations and information how to find out more about my deck, increase the connection. Many thanks…

Hi Friends, Does anyone use templates when they do a reading, as way of recording the reading for themselves or others? Or do you use templates when journalling or studying the Tarot? As someone that likes aesthetics and uniformity in my notes, I find templates a good way to streamline the design of my study. Making them look beautiful really draws me back to my notes time and again. It's a step up from the old highlighters and jelly pens from my school days! Haha.

When I read for myself I feel confident that I and the cards both know what and who we are taking about, and the answers come out coherent to my situation. But when I read for others it seems I might just be reading for myself again... I've read for myself countless times but only read a handful of times for friends. I was never able to feel sure that the answers matched their situation, and twice it actually seemed obvious that the cards ended up referring to my situation, not theirs. When I read for others I think about them and their questions. I've tried letting them shuffle and cut, or shuffling myself letting them cut. The querents have all been my frie…

I must say I’m pretty shocked at what I’ve found. Ive done a total of four readings in the past regarding four narcissists in my life. I’m amazed that every time I asked the question - how does he or she see me? I got the 6 of cups. This mean they saw me as a sweet, kind, naive, innocent empath. And you know what? They all said this too. Like ‘oh you wouldn’t hurt a fly, you’re too kind.’ The problem I’ve found is that for some reason narcissists are predators who see us empaths as prey. They get a sick pleasure out of mocking us, abusing us and bullying us to get an ego boost and attention. The only thing you can do is avoid them or ignore them so you don’t feed thei…

Over the last week i have been looking at different printing companies that can help me create a Tarot book and deck, i have compiled all of my short stories on my blog and i've been creating a large size colouring book and card set. The print services i'm using gives the author the option to design and upload their artwork or you can choose from a number of book cover Templates, and the process of uploading the PDF files is quite straight-forward. I'm currently using two Book printing services to see which one gives me the best results, both printing companies give you a free IBSN Code so your able to sell your product in their shop store, i wanted to ask what's been…

I am not sure what is happening or why, maybe I am just having confidence issues, but I feel really disconnected with readings for others for the last couple of days. I have read for myself for years and several months ago started studying the cards to a greater depth than just the one deck and one book I had. I read pretty much intuitively from only that deck and book for years. When I first started reading for other people, my ideas were still fresh, and I went into it not knowing if it would be helpful to anyone or not, but the feedback was amazing. Some people wrote back pages about how the readings resonated with them, told me I had a gift and so on...I took that …

Tarot learning question! So I know the meanings of most of the tarot cards by now (not super well though). I’d say I’m a visual learner. A challenge that I’ve encountered so far is that when people say, for example, four of cups, or any cards with a number in the minor arcana, it doesn’t mean anything to me. But when I look at a card image, I usually immediately know what the card means. Is this okay for learning tarot? Should I try to learn what the card means just by the name? Just looking for some advice.

Ok, this sounds dumb, but I need a bit of advice on how to get started! I've read and digested the Pollack book - its great, its informative, I learned a TON from it, and I will be referring to it and re-reading it - BUT. I need a "push" on how to do my first few attempts at actually reading the cards. Who for? What kind of reading/questions? I figure the Celtic Cross is probably as good as any of a spread for someone clueless like me, certainly the description of the "Tree of Life" is currently WAAAY over my head. Obviously, I'm going to have to refer heavily on the book to try to figure out what the spread is trying to tell me, but "what kind/style of reading should I a…

Hi all. This sub has been helpful thus far! I am ill (I keep drawing the Ten of Swords, which means I have reached my limit) so while I rest, I seek to grow always, I personally do believe God (Divine etc) speaks to us in different ways, and Tarot may be one of them for some of us. (first post on this page today was about that...synchronicity? maybe) I have on very rare occasions experienced prophetic visions in prayer, but I think the Tarot may be another valid and more nuanced way of receiving advice. For instance, I asked about help in careers. I drew the Three of Cups. Not understanding it, I asked for clarification and drew the Three of Pentacles. By themse…

My favorites tab is empty of the wonder of tarot blogs and websites, so mind helping me fill it a bit? What are your blogs and websites or which ones do you go to often?

I am thinking about going into one of the larger websites and starting a thread in which I answer questions with just one card pulled. I have done this before but without answering people's questions. Can this be done? Or is it advisable? Rick

Dear Tarot readers, Could you help me with this interpretation? Tarot Deck I'm using - Waite & Smith Card pulled in order - 9 of Cups, Tower and The Chariot I'm using Tarot for self-development and improvement, question I have asked: "What field in my life I should improve, what lesson do I need to learn" My interpretation: 9 of Cups I was living materialistic life, neglecting my spiritual side and soul, surrendered with similar type of "friends" who really care more about their image then true interpersonal relations based on trust, respect and love. …

Have you ever tried to read on a specific issue, only to realize later that the cards you have been receiving do not reference that particular issue, but rather the general energies in your life? How would you make sense of this, or mitigate such a tendency?

Somebody should come along and make a deck that is the perfect blend of the Marseilles Major Arcanas and the Pamela Coleman Smith-Waite minor cards. With bold colors, numbers displayed and be sure to capture the essence of traditional tarot meanings. Hello.

Hello - I am taking my first course in reading the tarot cards - what I am finding very confusing and frustrating is when I am asked to determine what a tarot card means (ex six of pentacles) without previously learning the meaning of the card... in other words using my intuition. This seems like a backward way of trying to learn tarot as I believe you need to learn the meanings of the cards first and then add the intuition in after that. I have tried to lay out all the major arcana and see a flow between cards but I don't see anything as I do not know what the cards represent. Am I right to want to learn the meanings first? I have talked to a couple of people who are…

Hi everyone, So I've been studying tarot for less than a year, and I wanted to share my experiences to see if it makes sense. I'm in between books learning tarot, numerology and others. What I try to read is more about information, and not looking for the answers such as "quick and fast methods...," because I feel I need to work for some of my answers and I believe that tarot is no exception. So I read the stories behind each tarot card as a platform (Raider deck) and grew from there. At that point, I would use my feelings (a lot) to read what the cards are saying. This is where I would like to share my process and get your opinion on this. When dr…

Not sure where to ask this question, I hope it's okay here, but: have any other subscribers to the newsletter received any for April/May? I haven't gotten one since March, and I'm trying to work out if they've somehow disappeared into my junk folder or if Cathy hasn't written one for a few months.

Hello, Today I was in the middle of doing a reading as I was studying a group of cards in the reading (The Death, Reversed Hierophant and Reversed Devil). Chris said yes so i need online to find a spread to find out more details about this situation. I couldnt find anything so im seeking help if any can suggest a spread that i could use pls.

Ive been doing practice readings for people, and Ive run into the conundrum of trying to strike a balance between answering the querents question and answering them according to my intuition, specifically in the context of when they ask about how someone theyre no contact with thinks of them/feels about them. Ive run across this a couple times, where someone asked me this, and the cards read, to me, like the person they were asking about had moved on and it was time for them to do the same, and some of the clarifying cards I pulled seemed to suggest the same to me. Maybe my perspective as someone who is going into social work has influenced me an…

Hi, I’ve found a deck I like working with online (probably a present to myself soon <3) and I’d like to work with a journal. The primary one that comes to mind is Mary Greer’s Tarot for Yourself, so I was wondering...which journals have you enjoyed using and which have been most productive/instructional? Thanks!

So sometimes people talk about just shuffling through their deck, whilst they're watching tv... or just because they feel like fiddling with something. My version of this is bedtime decks. Decks that are pretty, not emotionally taxing, maybe a little funny and easy to run the eye over - that I just like to look through before bed sometimes... Mine are all Tarot: Dame Fortune's Wheel Tarot Metanoia Tarot All Hallowes Eve & Halloween Waite Tarot, stars editions (Hybrid deck) Spring & Winter Waite Tarot, stars editions (Hybrid deck) The Gendron Tarot. Anybody else? …

I know that everyone reads and interprets differently, and I'm still very new to reading, but I've been thinking about how various experiences and fields of knowledge-- personal, professional, big life events seen through tarot, knowledge about hobbies etc. intertwine to create new meanings and I wanted to hear about how those affect your readings! For instance, music and the associations I make between cards does influence the way I read things. Then, I went back to school a few years ago and have been working toward an academic career. I don't know much about philosophy except how it ties into my field of study-- but what I've learned so far has made profoun…

So, funny story.... I have tried reading Lenormand several times in the past- and it didn't clicked - I dropped it after a short period every time- not understanding the "rules" .. I picked it up again like 2 weeks ago- on a whim- and started following the rules a bit more loosely ( after watching again a few online videos) - so far the results ( especially in prediction ) were spot on- to a point where I told someone an hour before the event that something she planned would be canceled and the way it would be canceled.. which happened - in that precise way.. This rarely happened for me in Tarot - despite me reading it quite well for …
