Hi Friends, Does anyone use templates when they do a reading, as way of recording the reading for themselves or others? Or do you use templates when journalling or studying the Tarot? As someone that likes aesthetics and uniformity in my notes, I find templates a good way to streamline the design of my study. Making them look beautiful really draws me back to my notes time and again. It's a step up from the old highlighters and jelly pens from my school days! Haha.

Hi, I'm quite new to Tarot and my journey I have decided to start with reading as much is possible and learn and meditate on cards. I want to use Tarot for self-development and finding more about my inner spirit and how to become a better person. I'm using Rider & Waite deck. The books I have read so far includes: Alejandro Jodorowsky - The Way of Tarot 78 Degrees of Wisdom by Rachel Pollack Meditation on Tarot Ultimate Guide to Rider Waite Tarot Any further reading recommendations and information how to find out more about my deck, increase the connection. Many thanks…

I personally do because of life experience in general (age 60 to 76). I also know that getting a tarot reading is VERY popular among the younger generation (Gen X & Millennials) The reason I ask you all the question is because I once had a tarot reading done for me by a younger type of reader (face to face), and frankly I wasn't very impressed. And this was very recent. What are your thoughts, opinions & ideas.

When I read for myself I feel confident that I and the cards both know what and who we are taking about, and the answers come out coherent to my situation. But when I read for others it seems I might just be reading for myself again... I've read for myself countless times but only read a handful of times for friends. I was never able to feel sure that the answers matched their situation, and twice it actually seemed obvious that the cards ended up referring to my situation, not theirs. When I read for others I think about them and their questions. I've tried letting them shuffle and cut, or shuffling myself letting them cut. The querents have all been my frie…

Tarot learning question! So I know the meanings of most of the tarot cards by now (not super well though). I’d say I’m a visual learner. A challenge that I’ve encountered so far is that when people say, for example, four of cups, or any cards with a number in the minor arcana, it doesn’t mean anything to me. But when I look at a card image, I usually immediately know what the card means. Is this okay for learning tarot? Should I try to learn what the card means just by the name? Just looking for some advice.

Ok, this sounds dumb, but I need a bit of advice on how to get started! I've read and digested the Pollack book - its great, its informative, I learned a TON from it, and I will be referring to it and re-reading it - BUT. I need a "push" on how to do my first few attempts at actually reading the cards. Who for? What kind of reading/questions? I figure the Celtic Cross is probably as good as any of a spread for someone clueless like me, certainly the description of the "Tree of Life" is currently WAAAY over my head. Obviously, I'm going to have to refer heavily on the book to try to figure out what the spread is trying to tell me, but "what kind/style of reading should I a…

I spent some time sorting out all of the tarot techniques, methods and practices that I use in my own work, many of which have appeared as (very) Frequently Asked Questions in the online tarot community over the years, and turned them into a kind of "punch-list" that might be used as an overview for the more traditional practitioner. These are all personal preferences, and there is a tiny bit of "bio" thrown in to get me to 42 iterations (Douglas Adams fans will understand). Many are questions that I'm sure we've all asked ourselves. 1. Type of shuffle: Overhand, riffle or other? Overhand; sometimes “casino shuffle” 2. Querent handles cards, Yes or no: Yes, shu…

Hi all. This sub has been helpful thus far! I am ill (I keep drawing the Ten of Swords, which means I have reached my limit) so while I rest, I seek to grow always, I personally do believe God (Divine etc) speaks to us in different ways, and Tarot may be one of them for some of us. (first post on this page today was about that...synchronicity? maybe) I have on very rare occasions experienced prophetic visions in prayer, but I think the Tarot may be another valid and more nuanced way of receiving advice. For instance, I asked about help in careers. I drew the Three of Cups. Not understanding it, I asked for clarification and drew the Three of Pentacles. By themse…

It is happening to me more and more often that a single card, within a reading, a spread, communicates to me more than a single meaning. for example, (I use Sarasvati cards), the moon, as potential negative meanings, has: illusions; utopia; betrayal; negative emotions; wandering; rudeness; obsessions; self sabotage; laziness; stupidity; instability; psychological issues, psychological problems; problems with ancestors; loss of energy; problems on a magical level; emptying; the end of something; being the victim of a curse; it would seem that in a…

Dear Tarot readers, Could you help me with this interpretation? Tarot Deck I'm using - Waite & Smith Card pulled in order - 9 of Cups, Tower and The Chariot I'm using Tarot for self-development and improvement, question I have asked: "What field in my life I should improve, what lesson do I need to learn" My interpretation: 9 of Cups I was living materialistic life, neglecting my spiritual side and soul, surrendered with similar type of "friends" who really care more about their image then true interpersonal relations based on trust, respect and love. …

Have you ever tried to read on a specific issue, only to realize later that the cards you have been receiving do not reference that particular issue, but rather the general energies in your life? How would you make sense of this, or mitigate such a tendency?

Somebody should come along and make a deck that is the perfect blend of the Marseilles Major Arcanas and the Pamela Coleman Smith-Waite minor cards. With bold colors, numbers displayed and be sure to capture the essence of traditional tarot meanings. Hello.

Hi everyone, So I've been studying tarot for less than a year, and I wanted to share my experiences to see if it makes sense. I'm in between books learning tarot, numerology and others. What I try to read is more about information, and not looking for the answers such as "quick and fast methods...," because I feel I need to work for some of my answers and I believe that tarot is no exception. So I read the stories behind each tarot card as a platform (Raider deck) and grew from there. At that point, I would use my feelings (a lot) to read what the cards are saying. This is where I would like to share my process and get your opinion on this. When dr…

Hello - I am taking my first course in reading the tarot cards - what I am finding very confusing and frustrating is when I am asked to determine what a tarot card means (ex six of pentacles) without previously learning the meaning of the card... in other words using my intuition. This seems like a backward way of trying to learn tarot as I believe you need to learn the meanings of the cards first and then add the intuition in after that. I have tried to lay out all the major arcana and see a flow between cards but I don't see anything as I do not know what the cards represent. Am I right to want to learn the meanings first? I have talked to a couple of people who are…

Not sure where to ask this question, I hope it's okay here, but: have any other subscribers to the newsletter received any for April/May? I haven't gotten one since March, and I'm trying to work out if they've somehow disappeared into my junk folder or if Cathy hasn't written one for a few months.

When I heard a voice come through "Can you help me *long hiss*" link to the hiss https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=L9Y3BiMquyc. After hearing this voice I asked if there was anyone that needed my help. Chris said yes so i need online to find a spread to find out more details about this situation. I couldnt find anything so im seeking help if any can suggest a spread that i could use pls.

Hi, I’ve found a deck I like working with online (probably a present to myself soon <3) and I’d like to work with a journal. The primary one that comes to mind is Mary Greer’s Tarot for Yourself, so I was wondering...which journals have you enjoyed using and which have been most productive/instructional? Thanks!

I am thinking about going into one of the larger websites and starting a thread in which I answer questions with just one card pulled. I have done this before but without answering people's questions. Can this be done? Or is it advisable? Rick

(TDLR the simple question is the final statement of this post, everything else is background info) As of beginning my studies in Tarot again after about a decade of not looking at the cards, I'm getting a firm grasp on learning each of the cards meanings. My most recent trouble that has come up is trusting my reading of the full spread itself. I'm sure over time I will become more confident in seeing the bigger picture of my spreads, but for now I've come upon a blockage that I think would help to hear how other people handle. I've always had a bit of an issue with divination of any kind - that being where if the outcome is a positive one I immediately become unsure of …

Apologies for the rather enigmatic title but that's my question in a nutshell as I'm brand new to tarot reading. In fact, I just got my deck today. I made sure to cleanse my deck first and get acquainted with the cards, making sure to take specific note of how each card makes me feel and what they mean to me beyond the meanings of card names themselves. Then, I decided to take the deck for a test-drive by drawing a three-card spread which felt incredibly accurate. Is there anything that I missed? I'm worried that I'm doing it wrong.

So, funny story.... I have tried reading Lenormand several times in the past- and it didn't clicked - I dropped it after a short period every time- not understanding the "rules" .. I picked it up again like 2 weeks ago- on a whim- and started following the rules a bit more loosely ( after watching again a few online videos) - so far the results ( especially in prediction ) were spot on- to a point where I told someone an hour before the event that something she planned would be canceled and the way it would be canceled.. which happened - in that precise way.. This rarely happened for me in Tarot - despite me reading it quite well for …
