Hi all... I have been thinking of getting a thoth deck lately and was wondering about what you all have to say, people who are using it and used it. I also have heard that this deck may not be of good energy, is that true? I have also heard that this deck is less about divination and more about spiritual ascension. I really like the deck and some of the ideas behind it, the ones i heard and understood. Just want to understand more before i take the plunge... what to expect, dos and don't and stuff like that. I would be very grateful if anyone could respond to this. Thank you 🙏

I absolutely love Tarot. Absolutely love Tarot cards that are larger than the average. My favourite larger sets are: [glow=red,2,300]Rohrig Tarot[/glow] [glow=green,2,300]The Druidcraft Tarot[/glow] and [glow=orange,2,300]The Journey into Egypt[/glow] Does anyone else fee like I do about large Tarot cards? Would love to hear from you and your favourites. I'm always looking for new, beautiful, even unknown sets. :)

It seems to move in waves or cycles or is that just me? I'm new to reading but I try to spend an hour or two with my cards everyday or at least reading about them. I went through more than a week where the 9/Pentacles kept popping up for me. And as a beginner, what's not to love about this card?! She still makes appearances too, but here lately The Fool has been hanging around me heavily, in my daily draw, showing up in my study sessions and even jumping out of the deck and into my lap! When stuff like that happens, I listen. Obviously, he thinks I need to learn my lessons. When you get Stalkers how do you handle them? Anything special or extra study? Who…

I'm wanting to do more readings with my Hermetic Deck, but I'm finding the version of the Celtic Cross suggested in the LWB (version by Godfrey Dowson) to be a little long for my schedule at the moment. I know there must be a bazzillion spreads out there, but wondering if someone with experience with this deck (or similar) would recommend a spread 4-6 cards approx so I don't loose my mind while learning this system. I'm yet to buy any books on the subject, so I don't know if there are any 'Golden Dawn preferred' spreads, nor have I really experimented with 'free reading' yet - putting down cards till the story has been told. Any thoughts would be appreciated!

Hi all I see that there's many techniques and ways to shuffle. This is how I do it, it's worked for me, but I just want to check what you think - if thats okay. I shuffle, I get a feeling of energy. I then pass my cards to the person I'm reading for. They shuffle and spread cards out like a fan. They then pick by running their hand over. Does this sound okay? I was reading that I should pick the cards for them. Also, the reverse cards are reverse to the person, not me. If they pick out the sun card reversed, i dont turn it round and make it upright. I saw someone do this the other day and thought it wasn't right. …

Hi tarot pals, I was wondering if any of you calculate the quint of a reading, how you do it and what you think it brings to the reading. I've been dabbling with it a little bit myself but I was curious to hear about your methods. So far I've been thinking about it as giving the reading an essence or a theme (these might be in the name of "quint"?) and I've been using the numbers of the Majors (The Fool hasn't come up yet but he might be 22 or else he is not counted as 0, poor Fool :( ) and the numbered Minors. The courts are numbered 11-14 for me to keep it simple. I sometimes do this with Lenormand too but I don't know if that is a separate discussion since it's a diffe…

A few months ago the owner of the local book store asked if I would want to come in and do readings for people? I explained I am still learning but would love to work with more people as I usually read for those I know. And she asked about how much to charge or what not? I’m not sure how it all works, but if I’m still learning would I charge or how would I go about it? We talked about like an easy quick 3 card spread. She asked me about it again the last time I was in. I would love to do it and I have gotten pretty good feed back from the readings I’ve done in the past so i know I can I just don’t know about how it all works to do at a place and all that. Any …

I'm sorry, but I see this card not as "happy" card but as "I worked hard for get all of these cups, and I won't allow to go everyone inside". You can see that guy and his hands and happy face. He is happy with his stuff and he protect his cups.

I am working with Face Up spreads as described by Mary Greer to work on recovering from a long relationship with a covert narcissist. I am re-learning how to trust myself and set strong boundaries. I am exploring my own inner peace and strength. What cards would you say embody these qualities of strength, inner peace, and self love?

So I was wondering if any of you have had an experience similar and what you choose to do? I purchased a deck and immediately issues have happened first the deck was sent to someone else’s house luckily my phone number is included on the PayPal purchased boxes . So we drove to pick it up , okay no big deal, then my cat ate the world card so I got that replaced , I do know there is something different about this deck . The box was not open the cards are brand new, but I get the feeling this deck is playing games with me. All my other decks I have there is a “grove “ does that make sense . So I organized it for selling you know majors wands cups etc..... but when I flipped …

Hi, Im new here on the board. I'm having a hard time interpreting my reading. I pulled the knight of wands followed by the 6 of swords, judgement, 10 of swords, and ended with the empress..with the chariot at the bottom of the deck. Can anyone help me with this message? Im getting something about traveling...but what's throwing me off is the 10 of swords and empress.

I'm also iffy about yes/no answers, but here's a method I've found quite effective (it's adapted from playing cards): Take out the majors and use only minors. Cups are read as yes, coins/pentacles as maybe, wands as probably not, and swords as no, sorry. You lay out 3 cards with the final card being the definitive answer and the previous cards adding detail. If a court ends the string, this is not the answer but a finishing detail.... the last non-court minor in the row calls it. I use this method with Marseille cards and non-standard correspondences, but I don't see why it wouldn't work (or fit) with RWS and the usual swords=mental, etc. Of course, you could …

Hi, I wish to expand my deck collection, but I'm really attached to my RWS deck so I don't want to probably ignore it. It's like my first born 🙂 But I feel adding more to the collection will help me learn more and become a better reader. Please advice with a deck that is simple, yet adds more to my learning (over and above RWS). I'm not a fan of fairy, cats, overly dark decks, maybe not too modern too...preferably something direct and accurate with a good guidebook with it or resources to read up on the internet to understand it better. Oh Gawd...I think I have too many criteria's ..but I am sure I will get some …

I'm curious (story of my life admittedly...that's the Page in me coming out!). I did an experimental reading for my three mice (something I've never done before) and was surprised with the results. You can read about it in my journal if you're super curious (like me), but long story short, I asked 'what do I need to know about <insert name here>' and in each case got a surprisingly accurate description of their character as I've seen it thus far! So I'm curious. Do any of you read for your pets? What do you read about? Do you have any specific spreads you like to use? Do you find you have to change the meanings of the cards? Do you use a specific …

Apophenia is the tendency to see connections where there are none. Like finding recognisable shapes in clouds. Is that what is happening when we read tarot cards or indeed any form of divination? Are we making meaning out of meaningless things? Do we really resonate with readings or are we making them fit or just seeing the things that fit and forgetting the things that don't? This is just something I've wondered about for a while. So I'm interested in hearing peoples perspectives on this.

I've always wondered whether whether the person getting a Tarot reading asks their central query aloud or whether the Tarot reader has to intuit what the querent wants from the reading. I've read quite a few guides but this aspect has never been covered in detail. I'm obviously a beginner and would be fascinated to hear member's views 🙂

hi everyone, in asking a question about how person A felt about reconciling with person B, the card drawn was the knight of swords, when asked to clarify this, the two of cups was drawn. i'm totally stuck on this one! to me the knight of swords has always been about jumping into things too quickly, without much thought but the two of cups is very much a loving and warm card to me. i am certain im missing the bigger picture here thanks for any input!

After a LOT of procrastination and self-de-enabling, I finally had a Greenwood printed up. (The images @Raggydoll posted were what finally did it. Poker sized with a linen finish is perfect!) Anyway, the Blasted Oak image strongly reminded me of William Blake, so I pulled up some of his images to see if I could match it. And lo and behold, there's The Dance of Albion. Look at this: The Blasted Oak seems to be an almost mirror image of the lady in The Reunion of the Soul and the Body: I haven't had time to reflect on any of this, and so can't claim that there's any intended added meanings. Chesca may simply have been usi…

I feel very uncomfortable with reading the tarot for people so much so that I freeze, I mean, I literally freeze. I know the meanings and could say them, but something inside of my freezes up. Especially if they seem sceptical. I can talk in front of people just fine until it comes to this. I can't reven ead the cards for people because of this. I can do it if I'write the reading, but I know most people want their cards read by chat or zoom now.Has this ever happened to you? What did you do?
