Hello! This new section of the forum is for deep and detailed discussion of Lenormand cards, either individually or as a two-card combination. This is the ideal place to discuss the differences in card order too. For example, a comparison between how one might interpret RIDER + MOON, vs MOON + RIDER. Higher-level analysis of multiple cards at once, for example all of the Club pips, all of the Heart pips, etc., are best suited to the main Lenormand section. We hope that, in time, this section will grow to become an excellent archive for Lenormand card meanings and how we understand them as readers. Please feel free to …

Lately I’ve been working more with card directions, but a few are still unclear to me. Any help would be deeply appreciated. 1) What does the Snake’s head vs. its tail signify? I guess the tail is the source of the treachery and the head points at what’s she’s biting? But I’m not sure. 2) The Mountain. This one confuses me a bit because most of the time I use the Dondorf deck and there’s no clear open/closed side on the Mountain card (at least to my eyes); or are directions read in another way here? 3) The Key; I already know that it says yes (unlocks) whatever comes before it and affirms the message of the following card as certain (locks), but I’m curiou…

Hi everyone, I hope everything is well with all of you! 🩷🌸✨ I had a small question regarding a reading convention in Lenormand on which I couldn't find sufficient information. What does the Snake biting the Fox's tail mean when they end up side by side like that in a reading? (I first came across this when reading through Katrinka's amazing blog, in a post where she reviews the Black Hand Lenormand deck. I'm not sure whether tagging her here would be okay or not... Here is her blog address: https://fennario.wordpress.com) I would appreciate any information anyone could share regarding this. Thank you. And if Katrinka reads this by any chance, I …

Heu all! So there is this guy from a very past story, that appeared recently and we started something, when we met he told me that he broke up from his relationship and moved from her house, I didn't ask many things, mistake, but it sounded like he moved out for some time now and the relationship was on the exit but they kept "sucking" on it. Everything was good he was really onto me, And then he suddenly disappeared for a weekend, he then told me that he got back with his gf but he wanted to continue with me, I met twice with him and then I cut it. So during these time the readings I did also for the future with him I got the Snake several times, at the b…

Bouquet + Coffin. Most texts give something along the lines of disappointment after we get past the literal meaning of a funeral bouquet / cancelled invitation. 2 words = joy [bouquet] ends [coffin] But I wonder if it can also show happiness [bouquet] about an ending [coffin]. Some endings are beneficial. Some endings are a gift. Is this sugar-coating? I suppose larger context is needed. If other benefic cards surround the combo it might allow a more positive take. Whereas malefic cards would reinforce the negative aspect. I got the combo in a 3-card daily, so not much context from other cards. The disappointment meaning hit, …

Hi there! I thought we might have a thread on difficult cards... I'm new to the study of Lenormand, and I've spent a fair bit of time studying over the past few weeks, but it's obviously all still very new to me and the nuance of the cards isn't always clear to me. I also struggle because I'm fairly experienced with the tarot by now so feel tempted to carry that way of reading the cards into the Lenormand. I really like it, though, the often very clear-cut messages appeal to me and often seem very spot-on. One thing I noticed - while there are some cards that feel very clear to me in their meanings, even when nuanced, there are others t…

Hey everybody! I'm a bit amazed by this reading I did today, it is my general for the next 1 month. My stumbleness came with the Kings as you can see and in general how many courts and people are there. I m just posting the half of the GT. Lord n Lady 4 kings 3 queens All together! Now I understand that each part has a different explanation but what made me think is what all these people are doing here. And they are so closed to each other, actually is like from the Lord n Lady they have 2 or max 3 positions far. Now I don't always see them as people, like the Clouds is often where are the problems, even though in the past it came as an ex…

In my classic Lenormands, card #11 is the Whip. In German decks sometimes it's the Rod. In my newer French deck it's a broom. In some decks it's both a broom and a whip. With the Jack of Clubs association, the card will always be somewhat malefic. We understand the essence of the card remains the same. Yet I feel that the Broom image emphasizes the repetitive nature of the card whereas decks which show a whip or rod reinforce the argumentative or aggressive nature of the card. I've not read enough LN to prove or disprove this theory. What do you think? Have you noticed #11 is slightly modified by which deck and which image it uses?

I've recently done several spreads regarding Real Estate and Moon has been a repeater. It appears in the center of the line or similar position which suggests it as the most important card. Texts give Moon as reputation and fame; for some, it's their employment card; for others, it relates to emotions. NONE of these classical meanings prepares me for Moon appearing repeatedly in spreads regarding a RE transaction. It makes sense per astrology. Moon is karaka of Houses and Homes. But LN is secular--not occult. Yes, there are emotions involved, residential RE can be an emotional business. Yes, there is work involved. Option #1 would be a va…

Most texts give the meaning that Mice + Mountain = long-term anxieties or long-term stress and losses. Sutton says specifically something along the lines of the mice don't eat the mountain to mean that the double-negative of these two cards remains negatiive. Yet Treppner gives this combination as: Obstacles dissolve. I recently had Mice + Mountain appear in a daily draw where it applied to 2 different situations [one financial, one personal]. In the financial situation, the obstacles dissolved. In the personal, not so much. BOTH were true. Hmmm. I don't know what to make of this.

The standard meanings of Fish have to do with cashflow. From the PL instructions: The Fishes if near the Person point to the acquisition of large fortune by marine enterprises and to a series of successful undertakings; if distant they indicate the failure of any speculation, no matter how well projected or planned. In health readings Fish is normally given as: urinary system, alcoholism, water retention. I would also think drowning or death by drowning ... but no books or blogs mention this 😆 I just had a surprising experience with Fish. I threw a 9-card line about a new medication. Fish appeared as the central card. It made NO SENSE. …

Snake is considered a malefic card. It refers purely to deceit and similar sinister intentions in the original PL instructions. From there we have many associations with a femme fatale / scheming female. I've had Snake show up very differently [so far]. Reference to female doctors and nurses. These aren't scheming femmes fatales ... yet one seeks medical assistance in malefic situations [sickness or injury] so there is a malefic aspect to the situation, but not the woman. Snake = Rahu as the karaka of venom and modern chemical medicines. What is an injection if not the "bite" of a snake? Yes, I read Scythe as the actual needles for the injections…

So, some days ago I had a client for a reading and through her reading she told me that she was wondering if the ex of her partner has made a spell or something onto their relationship cause the ex is into witchcraft etc. and it reminded me the older card readers we have where I come from. In the past we were always told if we had spells on us from someone in a card reading and if you find a reader here who follows the local tradition of the occult arts they will tell you, you don't find this anymore in modern readers and myself I haven't ever learn in Tarot a way to spot spells. SO I was wondering if there are any cards or any card combos in Lenorma…

This card always confuses me. As much as I have read in books and the internet, Lily is all about age, maturity, wisdom (which comes with experience as we age) but also sex, family, virtue, purification and celibacy (purity aspect). Now according to Andy's book, Tower is about old age & maturity while the rest of the books and sources consider lily as old age/maturity. What is your personal & real life experiences when it comes to Lily and which of meanings fits the most according to you? It will help me learn more about it and hopefully, clear out the confusion. Thank you. 😊

So I am opening this House thread so we can exchange some nice points of viewing this card. It seems such a simple one with a simple meaning but Not! I usually see the House as the House if someone of course, also as housing. I would also see it as a place that someone "feels at home", even if it is not their house, or a pace that someone spends lots of hours, like a job, but I feel that this last one might be confusing cause the House is more intimate. I can also see it as something or someone is stuck, not moving, not developing being in the same situation, seeing, doing the same things. But in this meaning I can also see the …

Hello everyone 🙂 I am just beggining to try learning Lenormand. I am reading the Treppner course and also Lenormand thirty six cards (or as you sometimes call it here, Andy's book). I haven't finished either, so I still have several questions. I have been doing 3 cards and 5 cards readings, and I'm still not sure if I am doing it well, though often the reading seems to make sense. Then I got "bold" and decided to try a GT. I decided beforehand that whatever I got from it, I wouldn't take it too seriously. I mean, I am very much a baby when it comes to Lenormand and I don't want to be scared or intimidated by a wrong reading. Of course, I'm approac…

Lets talk a bit about the Garden please, I am having a difficulty to understand this card, From what I read and have experienced till now, is about public spaces, communities, social networks, gatherings, places where you gather people physically or digitally, also from my readings I understand that it has to do in general with social environments and that it is a card that is a bit neutral until it is modified but other cards. I find it difficult though to read it in some context because we don't always ask for something that is relative to the social environment. What if is a relationship issue, or a money issue? Also, could the Gard…

Hi! I would love it if we all could talk a bit, and start a list, about the purpose all the cards have. What they do (deal with the surrounding circumstances in their own unique ways) For example: Whip- Its purpose is to correct and revise Flowers - Its purpose is to arrange agreements Fish - Its purpose is to "lubricate", facilitating exchanges. Snake - Induces/seduces What do you think?

Could the Paths & Clover represent going camping? Or a trip in the country? What do you think about this combo?

I saw a person interpret the fish as a soulmate in a relationship reading. Does anyone here do that, if so why? I also saw the anchor being interpreted as an open relationship. I'm trying to understand why cause it's not logical to me. I would love your thoughts on this!

I've just started an exercise, going through each card, writing down what they could mean. I wondered if Rider could represent a police officer. I confess this is due to the image on the card reminding me of the recent mounted police involved in protests here in Australia, which is tarotising somewhat. If not the Rider, who would you use to represent a police officer?
