General discussion on the Lenormand.

So my general reading question is this, to perform a GT for myself for a one month period what is the best way to phrase it to start off the process right. I was thinking; ”Show the month of August 2021 for myself” and then change the month as appropriate to the time frame. Does this seem specific enough and targeted directly at what to expect within my own personal month ? Yes I often overthink the simple to the point of lunacy 🤪 As always your input is appreciated ! PS - my thought was perhaps a thread that is dedicated to just good solid questions ???

Through time, I've noticed that the House card sometimes came to signify familiarity: a traditional world view, our individual confirmed habits, or certain traditions/customs. Has it happened to you all? Also, a friend asked me how would I portray, Lenormand wise, the expression home office. It got me puzzled, because it would depend on the question of the querent. House + Fish seemed to be a first option, but for a teacher, House + Book seems more appropriate. But, does anyone have another suggestion? Sorry if I'm asking too much.

LENORMAND DOES NOT BELONG IN DIVINATION. Needs to be moved to its own sub-area or whatever as it is not like using stones, mirrors, sticks, paper, crystal balls, divining rods, mobile phones, flower petals, toilet paper, dominoes, Mah Jong, tiles, herbs, bones, Chinese sticks, Runes etc etc etc. There are 36 cards made of cardboard that have images, words and/or numbers on them. ;D ;D ;D

I recently had a Lenormand Grand Tableau reading done by a very experienced Lenormand reader about someone who I believe might be my twin flame, or at the very least, someone I have a strong past life connection with. Full disclosure: I am married, so I am not looking for a romantic relationship (of course, not all TF relationships are romantic anyway). But I do want to meet this person and become friends if at all possible because I feel like we have past life history together. Anyway, I do not know how to do GTs nor am I really good at this yet so that's why I went with a more experienced reader. He was great, and everything resonated with me. I was very sat…

I know we all have our preference in decks. To me, what one likes, resonates is, is all that matters. SO, here are my make it or break it for a Lenormand: NAMES - if you call the Scythe, SCISSORS, I'm not there. Renaming, totally reimagining a traditional Lenormand card is a deal breaker for me. Yes, I can get USED to it, but I want to look at card, out of the box, and go DOG, CLOVER, etc. IMAGES - Again, if you have Scissors for Scythe, um no. If you have a Bird swooping in on a Mouse, no. PLAYING CARD IMAGES - I don't read playing cards, don't want to, and don't see the need for playing card IMAGES that ta…

Hello All! So as I continue my more folklore/traditional type of Lenormand reading studies I am looking at “additional” reading techniques. Let us say Mirroring and Knighting though we can easily add Counting to this as well. Besides giving you additional information do they give you a type or specific kind of information? What drives this question is I am remembering reading, can’t say where I read this, the Knighting shows you information that is right around the corner, not in plain sight. So first off am I dreaming I read this? Second, I don’t always use additional techniques as I don’t always need additional information but that could change if they del…

The art is taken from Yellow Submarine, and it is, as expected, busy. This is not a deck I would recommend for beginners, nor would I use it myself for large spreads. But if you're thoroughly familiar with Lenormand and old Beatles tracks, it's a fun deck. And it looks like the artist did put some thought into it. In addition to the trippy images, there are snatches of song lyrics - sometimes lyrics from several songs on the same card: So that's Blackbird, Till There Was You, and And Your Bird Can Sing, all songs about very different subjects (Civil Rights, love, Marianne Faithfull - "bird" was a slang word for a prostitute that eventually came to m…

I have been gravitating to the Vintage German for a couple reasons. One, it has the old images I love and two, love the cardstock, it's really a pleasure to shuffle. The Minute Lenormand gets use. LOVE the bright images Chronata made :) But also reach for the Anna. K and Ancient Lenormand, all the ones in my profile. The Noir is also a fav. But yes, this week, the Vintage German is getting a lot of use. What deck have you reached for...the MOST....lately?

Dear card readers, I'm just word crocheting myself through a GT. First time using the 6 x 6 layout (usually 4 x 8 + 1 x 4) and I started wondering about the underlying house sequence in row 4. Tower, Garden, Mountain, Crossroads, Mice, Heart. What is the connection between these cards? Is there some kind of universal evolution indicated by this sequence, a distinct psychological/sociological process? Just some sort of coherence. I'd say no. So then, what is the rationale behind giving all the cards that land in this row (or any other for that matter) the same undertone or background, like a fixed narrative? Why this "forced proximity" of certain modifiers or subtexts? Of…

I'm kind of new to this type of divination. I am looking for a good, evocative, not too busy deck. I have a few decks, some beautiful, some busy, pixie's etc. Recently l am hooket on Lisa Loves Lenormand youtube channel and I just LOVE her teaching and finally Lenormand makes sense to me on a much deeper level. I like colorful and collage decks. Any recommandation please?

What are some characteristics that really bother you in Lenormand decks? Like, deal-breakers. Personally, I am kinda bothered when the Clouds card don't have a brighter and darker side, because positioning is so importante to me in a spread. Also, when the "people" cards (Man and Woman) are facing ahead, so they can never be looking towards or away from each other. It kind of kills the potential for "narrative", in my opinion. I'm curious if other people are bothered by such things or if I'm just awfully nit-picky.

I did check past topics but did not see anything about this so in case I missed it I apologize for starting a new one. I’m finding different people determine these differently. There are some who use positive, positive neutral, neutral, negative neutral and negative. Then others who don’t use the positive neutral or negative neutral. Does this coincide with the different “ dialects” of Lenormand? I’ve been reading Björn Meuris, Andy B and (newly started reading) Iris Treppner. I am thinking I just need to pick one of the three until I learn and know it before I move on but which one? And which one to learn for the positive negative? I think only one way to lear…

Just wanted to share a Lenormand related story with you all. I am thinning out my Tarot collection so I asked my Lenormand deck where I should photograph these decks before I put them up on eBay. These are the cards I pulled: Whip + Cross + Fox I really had a hard time interpreting this one, initially. I took a step back from racking my brain and went down to make a cup of coffee. While in the kitchen, I thought maybe I should take them in the kitchen after thinking about the Whip and the Cross. Wasn't sold on it. So I walked into my dining room, crashed into the dog, and spilled coffee on my shirt. When I looked up to the sky to choke down my rage…

Pondering about how many times some cards in Lenormand mean, so far that's what I observed: The Coffin = zero. The Tower = once, as it means one. The Whip = twice, to punish or remedy. The Birds = double. The Roads = at least two, as it means options. The Stars = multiple times, as it infers multitude. The Fish = many, like the Stars. Am I missing any? In your experience (it doesn't matter if you're a newbie or not, I want to know from what you've read so far) what have you observed?

I know that some people read Lenormand with the card insets or at least the suit and a designation on the cards, other people don’t use the playing card insets at all. What is your preference? I don’t have very much experience to use the insets at this point. I’m not sure if I’m using the best book for learning fundamentals either. For me, at this point, trying to read the insets, would just clutter up my learning process. I watched a course on YouTube and the reader didn’t use the insets at all. He seemed to have a very strong knowledge of Lenormand. I’m trying to study it a little each day and doing the exercises in the book, Matthew’s really doesn’t go into the …

Hi all, I'm hoping for some clarification on hypotheticals. Does Lenormand play well with these types of questions or is that best left to something like Tarot or a different oracle system? For example, the type of question that often comes up when I read for others is "How would X feel if..." "How would X feel if I made this statement" "How would X feel if we met in person" ...etc Is there a better way to phrase questions like this or just better to avoid them all together?
