Thanks Bodhiseed!!    - I was snowed under, metaphorically!   I totally spaced on starting the new thread, although I remembered Wednesday, lol.

Cleaning out a house where two collectors and hobbyists lived for 60 years is NOT for the faint of heart.  And we won't talk about the separate garage and workshop!  Full of all kinds of interesting stuff.   Woodworking, jewelry making, gold panning, metal working, fishing, and MORE. Including a few things from my husband and his brother's motorcycle racing days.  Also including giant spiders, and some obvious rodent incursions.     And the collections....OMW.   It makes me determined to make sure our place is not in the same state 20 or 30 years from now, when it's our house being cleaned out.....

This week I'm sticking with the Goetia Tarot, mostly because I don't have time to go look for another deck at the moment.    😛

(((VG))) For some years as a side gig I parted out personal estates on ebay. Things people collected. At that point it was fun and doable and reasonable to ship all over the world. Not so much fun tell family their loved one's fortune invested in Franklin Mint stuff was worthless 🙂

I'm using the Illuminated Earth Oracle this week.

Well now that the Forum has changed the Edit option (time limit), I can't go back and add to the original post so I'll have to do it here:

3. AJ-ish/Sharyn - Illuminated Earth Oracle

4. Bodhiseed - Rosetta Tarot paired with the Day of the Dead Lenormand

Hi @Bodhiseedand @VGimlet!

How nice to see you 2 teaming up this week!♥

VGimlet,♥ Cleaning out estates is a very daunting task indeed! In the last 2 years we had 5 death in the family - mostly Elders and mostly covid. Peter's brothers had to do all the work, because we could not travel, due to the restrictions...  The last one of these sad tasks has barely started....

On to other things: This will be my week 2 with the Winterseer Oracle

Posted

Yes, good luck @VGimlet with the cleaning up.  Sounds daunting!  And thanks, @Bodhiseed for leading us this week!  Here's my deck blurb:

This week I’ll be using the Good Karma Tarot.  The box says it’s “a beginners guide to reading the cards.”  I’m not a beginner (not in tarot, but wait until you see me try to read with fortune-telling cards in a later week!!??), but I picked up this deck because I wanted something sweet, feminine, and contemporary to replace a deck in my collection that I thought was all that but realized it really isn’t exactly what I thought it was.  Besides, my holiday Amazon gift cards were burning a hole in my pocket!

All the figures on the majors are female or androgynous.  There are some male court cards.  I like the flat and colorful art.  And I always like contemporary scenes, even though there seems to be a LOT of pink hair going on here!  But that’s ok.  I’m sure it speaks to the younger generation.  Kids these days!

The book is simple and colorful and seems well done.  For each card, it has a few key phrases, text, a “traditionally” paragraph, and a Good Karma Tip, which is like an affirmation, but addressed to “you” (and sometimes “we”) rather than “I.”  The book has spreads and a chapter on “The Art of Storytelling in Tarot” and a short one on “Tarot Talismans.”

One production thing:  the deck comes in two plastic wells.  (You don’t see plastic too often these days for deck packaging.  I remember having a deck that came in a videotape box.  I think it was the Magickal Tarot by Anthony Clark.  90s flashback!)  I don’t like the two wells thing, plastic or not.  In this case the Four of Cups, the first card in the second well, is a little bumped on the top.  Not bad enough to send back, but that’s one of the problems with it.

Saturday2.thumb.jpg.42d30b03e59f2fc197ec423629f6c7a6.jpg

I’m sure I’ve got a yellow (or pink?) bag around here somewhere . . .  Found one!  It’s a little too long for the deck, but will work for now.

So now for a good wash and shuffle and on to the interview!

Saturday4.thumb.jpg.9cf88c16d3790e762978571cac3a0218.jpg

Most important characteristic:  The Sun

It is what I said it is:  cheerful, bright, and sunny.  And feminine.  This sun has a feminine face, with shapely lips and eyebrows and wavy bangs!

Strength:  Four of Wands

It’s a celebration of tarot and friendship.  It contains (four) tarot energy (wands).  On other wands cards, the wands have leaves, but these have leaves and flowers.  Effort has blossomed forth into something to celebrate.

Weakness:  The Hierophant

I wouldn’t call it a weakness exactly, but the deck doubles down on contemporary illustrations.  It’s not traditional.  This might be its weakest card.  Unless we knew that this is a teacher and tradition card, it might be hard to tell that woman with flowers in her hair is teaching the other two.  Looks like the same flowers as on the Sun!

What can the deck teach me?  Seven of Swords

A love (seven) of learning (swords).  But going by the more traditional illustration, it can teach me that sometimes I need to keep my ideas to myself.  Two out of seven people might understand.

How can I learn it?  Ten of Coins

I think all the coins in the deck have pentacles on them.  By treating those people who DO understand as family.  And sharing with them like they’re family.  I really like this card!  The young man is surrounded by his loving family, mother, wife, and child, a physical manifestation of their close connection.  (Ok, besides a lot of pink hair, we also have a good number of tattoos.)

Outcome of our work together:  Three of Cups

Our work together will be like hanging out with friends, fun with a little serious talk and comfortable good feelings.

Well, that sounds great!  I hope that’s exactly what will happen this week!  If you want to see more, check out my journal thread!

Good to see you two! 😊 (Apologies again for having to list us in different posts!)

This week I'll be using the Rosetta Tarot along with its companion book The Book of Seshet. This set was created by M.M. Meleen and published by Atu House. The oracle deck I'll be using is the Day of the Dead Lenormand, created and self-published by Edmund Zebrowski. Today's draws are the Nine of Wands and Book:

AVvXsEhgUPf6fgJP1Q7tK16ag7H9kHRAqaDAYGqqrxI6SaT3e4srfbz-rWslSco2eDdYNWzdPrckq0y93-jL_AC7Bn2eBs78tWo_XF4lx3stLBuBYZAHOFG5QqU6SDl2RNqzhUlYUK7gew0PrxPZ-K1C-irlJnZ_k3Ij_fI_qu4gNRQXduaildJvPLi0wdlo=s320AVvXsEiAOohEudOC8HboVyI8jzAy7ZcoJEbBR_qZuyEfbtBfCugGJkaDSiRZtoDVKc4qjcUAeIBT2VCmIFQsAt1cYpXW1FnOwMIPzsDKdbVHdoiVpXzNe6Cwqooezl1rL-tEytAmcbbvdhhSTAt1lyDFZpBr9_6ZKjbtnTnPdnhSDVr1LQK1UDs_HJ7hxnnM=s320

Meleen describes this card as a steady force that cannot be diverted, a strength supported by a purity of will. Such a force can be formidable, but that 'purity of will' might need to be balanced with evidence and discernment.  Our emotions and opinions may lead us to follow an ideal or a leader that looks impressive on the outside but is as hollow as bamboo on the inside. We may be so gung-ho that we cannot be distracted by what others might see as questionable ethics or methods. The Lenormand Book symbolizes hidden knowledge and secrets and suggests we don't have the full story. To borrow a question from President Joe Biden, are we willing to live not by the light of truth but in the shadow of lies?

Thank you for the thread, Bodhiseed!💝

I’m in with the KOTH Tarot.

(King of the Hill)

My youngest son preordered this deck before Christmas and guaranteed it wouldn’t be anything I would buy for myself. True, but only because I didn’t know it existed!!!

(KOTH runs on my tv almost continuously. And actually was playing when son and DIL arrived with this gift. 😂)

Hahaha, yep, I imagine.  and those Hummel figurines  (worthless...)   Dolls and tin toys, some of them worth a mint.  Those are going to the grandkids.  There is a lot of good stuff people might want.   Plus, once we get out what we want to keep, and the kids get what they want we're going to bring in some of our own stuff for the sale as well - might as well, right?  This is the 5th death for my SIL this year, she's not doing too well, so we are being easy on her.

The Goetia advised me to be patient today, and maybe chill out as there are changes on the way.   All true.    (Strength, 4 of Swords, Tower....could it be more obvious?  NO.  haha.)

I like that KOTH tarot.   It made me laugh.

I think they changed our thread so we could edit it now. I think those who are subscribers don't have a time limit on editing. I guess they were having some issues with folks.

Ok. I'll have a go with the BoneFire Tarot.  It's one I've never worked with before.  I need to devote more time during the week, I'm working on it.

@Madame Squee OMG This KOTH Tarot!!!!  I have never seen it.  I must investigate. 🙂

So I've gone from last week's totally black and white deck to this week's brilliantly vibrant Bonefire Tarot.  The cards remind me of Chronata.  Do you guys remember her? I haven't heard anything about her in years.  I loved her decks and other divination sets.

Anyway. I just drew a few to see what I need to know about my work week next week.

The Emperor/Six of Swords/King of Coins

Looks like the same ole, same ole.  No surprises here. Someone in "authority" will assert themselves and perhaps try to lay down a few rules.  This will ruffle feathers and some will consider leaving, some who have been considering may just go on and do it.  The main leader will go on as usual, giving us our paychecks and perhaps rewarding those who stay. Overall none of this concerns me, I've been there a long time and know what to expect. People make mountains out of molehills when really there's nothing to be done except our jobs.

I'm really loving the cards.  There is so much detail put into them.  I like the shape of them, a wider rectangle  than standard and of course I always love black borders if there have to be borders at all.

@Disa I love the Bonefire! It looks to me like you have the independent version of the deck, right? Such a keeper, either way!

@Madame Squee Is that deck still available!?!?!? A King of the Hill tarot!?!?!?!? AMAZING!

I am in this week with the Lua Tarot yet again! In love with it still for these new moon days 🌚

Posted (edited)

@vulprix I'm not sure if it's the independent version?  I think I got it from Amazon a few years ago or I don't know when. (I just looked it up- I did order the deck from Amazon in January 2021).  I just haven't ever used it.

I'm also hoping to find the King of the Hill Tarot.  I'm  following the creator on Instagram for updates.  Looks like they are releasing some at a new website that hasn't been finished yet??? 🤷🏼‍♀️  I'm still figuring it all out.  I should have known these threads were enabling threads...

Agreed @Bodhiseed  Such a fascinating array here.

The Somnia tarot is a dreamlike, dark and surreal journey within a water landscape.  As one who is both captivated by and simultaneously afraid of the ocean's depths, I find this a particularly intriguing deck to work with.

I feel I need to purchase the guide book. I'm curious what the artist and creator intended with certain aspects of the poses and images.

Take, for example, the Queen of Swords and her shawl below.

In the 9 of wands, I'm captivate by the chandelier floating in the water, as it resonated a strong memory response within me.

I do want to order this guidebook asap, but I am in the midst of a no-spending Depth Quarter, so I must get out of this pack what I can intuitively and personally for now.
