Thanks for sharing, @Wyrdkiss - and just wanted to say I'll be thinking of you during this journey. It is so difficult and complicated on so many levels. So my heart is with you!

For the reading itself, it's amazing how beautiful that Moon goes together with the Princess of Cups - those shades of green and purple shared between the cards are quite striking. And just a side note that I love this Moon - it is one of my favourite renditions of a Tarot card ever (and I love the Moon card in general). It's definitely a twist on the usual meaning and imagery, or at least that's how I see it - because the demon actually looks quite pleasant and happy in their dreams.

Thank you @sweeneyish.  The pull of the Princess of Cups was soothing here. She has a gentle, child-like touch, and is an invaluable helper . supportive personality according to Crowley.  All we will be able to do, most likely, is provide my family member comfort at this point.  Reassurance, kind presence before she passes.

As for the moon, it too is one of my faves -- a card I always look at when examining a deck.  Sleep in peace here is what I see.  Do what we can, and do not resist what is.

thank you again for the kind words.

PS -- the Thoth is my rock, my tarot foundation. My go-to, reliable and always honest friend.

Just thought I'd send you a hug @Wyrdkiss.:animated-smileys-hug-002:💓

That's kind of you @Bodhiseed, many thanks.

I'm hoping to see some readings here by morning!

Here’s a big one for you! When I have time, I do the daily spread from 365 Tarot Spreads. They are all large spreads, and I don’t find Marseille style decks are great for that (or for fixed positions), but heck, it does let me see a lot of cards! This is the “Tornado” spread.

B4D341C4-FF0B-47A1-90BC-9280604CC72D.thumb.jpeg.fb37f8b577d682ec6aef17ec5b69e903.jpeg

I won’t bore you all with the whole reading, but here are some highlights:

What Should I Focus on When I’m Calm?

IX of Cups

I went with the more RWS style meanings Patrick has in the guide, instead of doing Marseille or other cartomancy, mostly because it’s too time consuming for this many cards. With that in mind, we have the Wish card here, which seems appropriate - When I’m calm, focus on my wishes and goals!

What gets me hot under the collar?

VI The Lovers

Well, relationships are difficult, romantic and friendship, and certainly I create a lot of angst for my self based on how I perceive those closest to me.

What Damage Am I Capable Of?

Queen of Cups

I had to include this in my brief summary, because she is one of my favourite cards, and I have a hard time seeing her as damaging. Taking the reversed meanings, I could

see this as being selfish, needy, and draining.

How do I pick up the pieces?

VI of Cups

Generosity, goodwill. This one reads well, especially in contrast to the selfishness of the dark meaning Queen of Cups.

Sending good thoughts your way @Wyrdkiss❤️

I have to admit seeing all the Patrick Valenza decks in your collection is a little enabling @sweeneyish but in a good way honestly - his artwork, worldbuilding and general atmosphere in his decks is incredible. I'm still kind of bummed out that I didn't get along with the Deviant Moon itself so I'm tempted to order either The Abandoned Oracle or the Trionfi della Luna with illustrated pips sometime soon. It's very bold of him to release the illustrated pips TdL without any images of the cards themselves but I'm sure he knows his customer base well enough to successfully pull off something like that 😊

From Tarot by Caro, the Ten of Swords; from the Holtizka I Ching, Hexagram 49:

ten%20of%20swords.jpghexagram%2049.jpg

It never fails to amaze me how we humans will defiantly stick to our beliefs and ideas even in the face of a starkly different reality. Some of us would rather suffer or die than relinquish any of our delusions. The swords that pin this woman (and will eventually cause her drowning) could easily be removed if she simply acknowledged the evidence: "I was wrong. I didn't fully understand. I didn't want to know the truth because it made me afraid." The 49th Hexagram is titled Revolution and refers to an inner and outer change in us to keep pace with the evolving and changing world around us. Part of that change will require letting go of some cherished ideas and accepting others that are more beneficial and wholesome, however hard that may be. As James Garfield said, "The truth will set you free, but first it will make you miserable."

Apologies for the enabling (maybe?), @Page of Ghosts 😅. But as long as its good enabling, I'm happy! His work is so amazing. I'm definitely a Patrick Valenza reader. So far, every single deck I've read of his is super high quality and gives wonderful readings. And, as you noted, the world he is built and the imagination that goes into the decks is incredible. And on that note, apologies for the more enabling probably about to happen based on my next post. You can't really go wrong with any of his decks or oracles, in my opinion. The Abandoned Oracle is amazing, and also extraordinarily dark, even for him (it has a warning on it!), so as long as you're ok with a pretty vicious deck, you'll love it for sure. I know I do.

I did, yeah! I ordered a little while ago,

although it did look like they cleared most their pre-orders - When did you order yours’?

Well, jumping the gun to next week a bit, but I really can't resist reading with the Trionfi illustrated pips now that I have it - I hope it's ok for people who haven't received the deck yet to see the illustrated pips. If you'd rather not, let me know, and I'll start hiding them under spoilers.

April 29th - Influences

Two of Swords: The young warrior sees two paths before her - struck by indecision, she finds herself at an impasse.

I filled in the card to her left so I could see what the choices are.

Page of Swords: As a serpent wraps around his ankle, the Page of Swords readies his blade to strike. Although he is still in training, his expertise will grow along the path.

I see this as facing my problems directly, even if I feel unprepared. In the tradition I practice in, we have a practice that literally translates to “cutting through” - especially through thoughts. I have some anxiety and expectations about a big event next month, so I think the instruction is to cut through these thoughts and not avoid them. Especially based on the rest of the reading…

With her other head, the Two of Swords looks at:

Seven of Swords: A cunning thief sneaks away with five swords, as the inhabitants are distracted by a wild circus. Let’s see where the thief is looking to complete the reading:

Page of Coins: The Page chases a flying coin through the air, oblivious to the danger that lies right ahead.

So one path involves turning to face my negative thoughts head on, cutting through them and perfecting my skills. The other choice is to avoid my thoughts, allowing them to steal my awareness and leave me vulnerable to the dangers ahead.

I think I know what choice to make!

@sweeneyish I acquired mine through some shop credit, so that may be taking longer to process the order as it is not a priority perhaps. I love that Page of cups -- so childlike and reckless. I can hardly wait to get that deck.

I have not been doing much assessment of my choice this week, so I decided this morning to really look through it and select my favorite cards. To my surprise, I realized I have been reading with some duplicates!  Pictured here are two different Moon Cards, for example. I also had dupes of the Tower and Devil.  That's ok, it has not impacted by readings.

I also have selected some of my favorite Aces, and the best court card in the deck in my opinion -- the knight of cups on his floaty toy lol.

This was a fun week.  And thanks for the support everyone.

I do not mind seeing the cards for the illustrated pips edition of the TdL at all @sweeneyish - it is a welcome feature for me since I'm so curious about it! I have quite a few cute and fluffy decks so the eerieness of the Abandoned Oracle does speak to me. Sometimes I speak of inner issues in a very visceral way so I'm thinking that deck in particular could work well as sort of a visual metaphor for me as a reader. I'll let you know when I get around to ordering something from Deviant Moon 😈

I haven't taken many pictures this week, but I have indeed used my deck and I find it to be quite delightful to work with. I'm back on my Angel-binging after a long time with no progress - Buffy the Vampire Slayer is my number one comfort show and I've had a hard time getting into the spin-off even though many people say it's better than BtVS. For the longest time it felt like watching BtVS with the main character missing, but as they slowly added more original characters that vibe has faded. Anyway, the point is that I'm indulging in that perfect late 90's, early 00's vampire aestethic with both my deck and Angel itself and I think it's an interesting combination that was not fully planned in advance. I've had a lot of various smaller and bigger personal projects ending this week as well as moving onto new ones, so my cards have reflected that quite a bit. It's good to be finishing things up and having vampires cheering me on!

Now I have a moment, also wanted to add in some positive energy to you and yours @Wyrdkiss.      We have been in those shoes very recently, and it's not easy.    Take care of yourselves too.

How fun! I love all the substitutes he did with this deck. The paradoxical blue I have had 115 cards, and at first I was reading with all of them - Pure chaos, to say the least!

Buffy and Angel are two of my favourite shows of all time. Angel’s first seasons are weaker, but those last few seasons are some of the best television ever. How nice to meet another Scooby!

I'm so bad at fandom stuff, we're called Scoobies? I love that! I always wanted to watch Buffy when it originally ran but I was too young, so when I remembered the show again in my late teens I got some of the seasons on DVD and I've been hooked ever since 🧛🏻‍♂️ Angel really picked up during season 3 for me and I've just started season 4. I know Joss Whedon did something unfair to Cordelia's character because of his issues with Charisma Carpenter and I'm curious to see how it all ended for her. I really enjoyed the growth of her character from the first season of Buffy to what she became on Angel, so it sucks that it ended in some bad way for her because of Whedon.

Thank you so much @VGimlet. That is very kind; all of you have been so and this thread is a necessary outlet right now for me.

I'm buying plane tickets today.  Action is being taken to avoid regrets.

Cheers and hugs all
