Hi, all!  Here are my Monday and Tuesday!

With the LWB in hand I am studying the images of the Jolanda Tarot.

The Mayors are certainly evocative, but some of the images of the minors leave me a bit perplexed, wondering about the artists thoughts and wishing for a book explaining his choices.

Like who's kids and critters are sitting on the 3 of wands?

I am realizing I’ve either never seen the minor arcana of this deck before, or have never really paid attention. This really is a funny card. It looks like art from a Chutes & Ladders game or something!

I always thought the Jolanda looked so beautiful, but back around 10 years ago, I remember it being frequently traded/sold on Aeclectic. Somehow I never bit! Do you use it often? What is your relationship like with the deck?

@Mi-Shell, that Three of Wands makes me think of those who took a risk (on top of the poles) and those who played it safe (on the ground). Also some took a larger risk - the monkey and the lion are agile climbers, but the kids not so much.

My "big" reading for the week is finally done, I have been unwell this week....

Tomorrow's thread will be up later today 🙂

Wow, I actually really agree with you here, though I wish I didn’t! What if you read with this deck on a white background and put the (gorgeous) backs out of sight? Do you feel that would satisfy?

I am uncertain @vulprix -- I think the lackluster images will be a struggle regardless of the back being juxtaposed nearby or not.

I did remove the reading mat background this morning and just do one on my blue cloth table cover. Let's see how this turned out:

I think I'm also struggling with the gold lettering for the card's name.  It also heavily clashes with the muted tone.  I like the images here, the art is lovely -- and perhaps I'm being too finicky.  I may get used to it, or I may not. Thus far the deck resonates as an "ok" from me, sadly.

Thank you, @Bodhiseedand @vulprix! ♥

Now I have to learn, what a "Chutes and Ladders game" is.

And Bodhi, your interpretation makes a lot of sense!

To answer the other question, I just got the Jolanda last week as a prize from the winter subscriber thread.

I knew of its popularity way back when on AT, but also "never bit"

So far I have taken a look at the Mayors, and suit of Wands.

It is busy here right now, we had Farmer's Market day yesterday, where I am training the next generation of Bearpaw Jewellery - in the midst of a heat wave and tornado warnings. Then, here at home we are trying to raise 3 little orphaned Raccoons, who need do be bottle fed every first 4, now 6 hours and I am also asked to bring Native American and shamanic teachings into the town of Huntsville, in "honour" of the visit of the Pope in Canada....

So not much Jolanda time right now.... But I will keep with it for the next few weeks and report back 🙂

This is my reading for today:

Ok, a few images and thoughts. This deck re-works bad RWS cards fairly well. For example, there is no floating popcorn ball in this Cups card. Some are positively lovely, like this strength. And we'll, some are just flat out awkwardly bad, like this last one.  I think this pack is going into my display case as an example of a certain art style. Not even sure I will keep it .

Oh, this is an odd High Priestess. Not sure what to make of her. Any input?20220721_201636.thumb.jpg.852f8ba1ebbcdba3dee3fa2d7e533348.jpg

I’ll bite 😁

She in untethered by lack of action; she is a self-initiate of the mind only at this time. Her passivity leaves her without her feet on the ground. And yet, she appears more ethereal for her lack of experience and the wisdom she withholds.

What do you think? Does that make sense? 🙂 I kind of like her.

@Wyrdkiss, I agree with @vulprix that her floating gives the impression of being ungrounded. She reminds me of people who use tools like meditation to spiritually bypass ("transcend") life instead of learning how to deal with it and live it fully.

It's such a unique illustration, isn't it? I kind of like her too.  So she is kind of an initiate version of her self in this archetype?

Just read this. Well said.  I'm not sure how to incorporate her into a span of the deck's potential while still finding her mature counterpart elsewhere in other cards.  She is a new-age junkie perhaps, and it is not serving her well.
