What do you think of this deck? Should I buy it?

@BrightEye, thank you for your words of support! I actually bought this deck because of those faces. To me, it is one of the softest decks; even the Devil looks friendly. And I like the muted colors. But I started thinking thoughts like, I can sell it and buy something more fancy... and then I thought, eh well, this will be a never-ending cycle. I will want something "primitive" later and buy it again, it is ridiculous. 

Mine is also by LoS. There is one by Il Meneghello but I can't get it, and it is okay. I think ours are good enough quality wise.

Swords = curved [think scimitar of arabs]

wands = straight [think polo sticks of mongols]

I *mostly* teach beginners on RWS ... but I encourage them to use Pip decks to quiz themselves on numerology meanings and suit meanings without the hints offered by the RWS deck. You may find even as a beginner you might use it to test yourself for fun.

It's always fun to contemplate interesting new decks, if only on the remote chance that I might actually buy one of them. I can count on one hand (and have a digit or two left over) the number of decks I've bought in the last year, and on one finger those of that group I use with any regularity. But I'm definitely in the market for another TdM deck, either a Noblet or a Dodal (as well as another Lenormand), so I will be watching here for anything TdM-related. In general, though, so many new decks deservedly wind up in "decluttering sales" after a short time that I can't get too excited about any of them.

And I did and I do like it; it's cleverly done - but it does feel very strange so far. It is - as all their stuff is - beautifully done, though the number was VERY stupidly placed on the sticker that holds the tuck box closed - i'm just glad I saw it before I sliced through it as I do with scotch tape ! Other buyers - take care !

It's probably a passing whim, but I'm eyeing Tarot de el Dios de los Tres. Anyone have this eyesore wild, colorful blend of pop art and multi-cultural religious iconography? What are your thoughts? I probably wouldn't use it for reading, more for contemplation.

It's called Le Tarot de Marseille-Waite by Emmanuelle Iger, I think you have to buy from her in France.

Garish, isn't it? But compelling. I actually love some of the choices he made (Hermaphroditus for Temperance, and snails!) while other puzzle me (the creepy eye with bat wings on The Star ???). I think I'd enjoy pondering over it. If you get around to reading with it let me know!

There is rather a lot of pink, yeah. But maybe the other over-bright colors balance it out.

I recently fell in love with two Tarot decks, neither of which seem to be available to buy now. Does anyone have either or both of these?

 

The Xul Solar Tarot, by the Argentine artist (and sidekick of the great Jorge Luis Borges) Xul Solar, which was actually available on eBay until the other day but now gone: https://www.astrumargenteum.org/gallery/xul-solar/ Xul Solar actually made at least two decks as you can see if you follow the link, but this is the more original of the two:

I don't have them but l'd choose the one that l liike better (for me the first one). Which style do you like better? Do you like  original or classical decks? 

For me the big, busy border on the second one would be bothersome.

Thank you! In terms of style, I like them both. In fact, the Tarot de la Reyne reminds me of the Grand Etteilla III, which I really like. However, it seems the Tarot de la Reyne is not available as a reproduction, and the originals that are for sale are incomplete. At least, that's what I gather.

 

And -- rats! -- as of this morning the Xul Solar is no longer on eBay. Someone bought it!

I keep looking at this beautiful Medieval Feathers Tarot, but most likely I won't buy it. The feathers were probably included as a unique selling point but seem a deal breaker to me, so distracting. Maybe some of you will see this and decide it's your cup of tea.

Yes, I really like some of the drawings (not all), I do find them beautiful, but the feathers? Why?
