I have Tarot of Cat People.

I'm new to this forum, tho. For this Deck of the Week ... do we have to use a deck someone else here is using? Or just pick the deck we want to use?

You can use whatever deck you want. I have toyed with the idea of using my homemade anatomy flashcards from my A & P class lol (and offering free readings in the Readings Forum) for one week. I may still do it 🙂

Shall I sign you up? <rubs hands evilly together>

Welcome back @Bodhiseed!

Sure. Put me down for KeyMaster Tarot which I just reviewed on this forum.

So ... to clarify ... I do spreads with the deck and share them here?

Thanks!

Yes, you can post your readings right here in this thread or if you prefer you can create your own journal in the  Journals Forum and link it here. Either option is fine.

Welcome!

I'm in again this week!

I missed last week as I was really busy doing things I knew I wouldn't be able to give a deck a fair chance!

This week I'm going to focus on the Wild Unknown Tarot as its the deck that is closest to spooky vibes that I own 😆 I don't really do spooky that well!

I'm in. I'm using the Deviant Moon with Raggydoll's Moon Spreads and I'm using the Moonology oracle cards for a daily draw.

Happy Saturday, deck of the week crew!  This week for Halloween I’ll be using the newish Trick or Treat Tarot by Llewellyn (book by Barbara Moore, illustrated by Jonathan Hunt).  It’s specific to its title, portraying trick-or-treaters and people in costume.  There are lots of pop culture references, as you would expect for a costume theme.  I like the illustrations very much, it seems very painterly?, or at least very realistic and colorful.

Let’s go on to the interview.

Lots of majors here!  I wonder what that means?

Most important characteristic:  Wheel of Fortune

First pop culture reference!  Instead of red and blue pills, we have red and blue candies.  It’s about decision, but the decider doesn’t have all the information about the possible results of his choice.  So even though he has a choice, its still anything can happen.  As a characteristic, it’s a tarot deck:  shuffle so that any cards can come up, meaning anything can happen!

Strength:  Magician

And here are the cards!  Same idea as above; because it’s cards, any combination can happen.  The reader has input, but in this case, he’s just pretending to be able to create the future.  But maybe the cards really can give you information about it.

Weakness:  Lovers

I love the Adams family, especially the passionate parents!  As a weakness, the deck isn’t really good for romance or relationship readings.  It’s too spooky for that!

What the deck can teach me:  Eight of Cups

Is there a specific pop culture reference here?  Or is it just superheroes in general?  The costumed superhero is leaving the small cups and pumpkins behind to point out more impressive ones.  The deck can help me figure out what’s important to me and what to pursue.  I need that!

How I can learn it:  Temperance

The bartender at the Halloween party.  The book points out the irony of temperance (a word often mistakenly used to mean abstinence) as a bartender.  I can learn about what I need to prioritize by realizing things are usually on a continuum.  I don’t have to completely commit to or completely abstain from anything.  I will just have to figure out where on the scale I want to settle.

Outcome of our work together:  Three of Pentacles

The costumed workers are putting the final touches on their very well done pumpkin head scarecrow.  They have cooperated to accomplish something concrete.  My work with this deck will have a good result, maybe I’ll get some answers that will actually help me or stick with me.

Well, that was fun!  I’m really enjoying the more specific theme, rather than a more general Halloween theme.  It’s working so far!

What a great deck. Morticia and Gomez as the Lovers is absolutely perfect! I squealed.

This week I'll be using the Tarot of the Cat People, created by Karen Kuykendall and published by U.S. Games. I'll also be drawing from the Insectorum Divinorum, created and self-published by Esmeralda Rupp-Spangle. This morning's cards are the Emperor and the Nightcrawler:

emperor.jpg   nightcrawler.jpg

The Emperor's companion cat is a snow leopard, a powerful animal that evolved to live in harsh conditions at high altitudes. The Emperor has similar qualities, proving himself to be brave in battle and capable of inspiring respect. He knows that a society needs room to advance and make progress, but they also need some limitations and rules to prevent discord and disorder. He would agree with Shunryu Suzuki, "To give your sheep or cow a large spacious meadow is the way to control him." The Nightcrawler is a beneficial earthworm that aerates the soil while helping to recycle nutrients and fertilize the soil. It has a mundane rather than flashy existence, but it provides a much needed service. As any leader, teacher or mentor knows, it's usually the day-to-day duties that provide the foundation for all the rest.

Here's my reading for today.

Does really liking this deck make me tarot-shallow?  I guess I don’t need to judge myself, just enjoy it!

See you tomorrow in the Halloween reading thread.  I’m going to use the Haunted House Spread from the book for this deck.  (There’s also a Harvest Spread in the book I want to try.)

I'm using decks with cat people and bugs - no judgement from me.😂 Seriously, if you can read with it and enjoy it, I'd consider it a good deck. 👍

Deck of the Week: KEY MASTER TAROT using French Cross spread (Each Major is read as a pair with its Minor)

Note: Interpretation insights are welcome

Topic: I serve a volunteer post as Secretary. An ex friend of mine (non sexual) recently was appointed as President. I'm ready to quit. This person micro-manages my work. Past presidents mostly left me alone as i know the job. The only reason i've not already quit ... the organization somewhat needs my expertise. Question: what to do?

Obviously I have self-bias ... any insights on the cards that you think I missed?

  1. affirming / The way that is open: Hierophant & 5 cups = I blocked this person from calling or texting me. Our only communication is very formal via the organization's e-mail accounts (Hierophant). I have a sense of regret about this (5 cups) ... but the invasive micro-managing texts had to be stopped.
  2. denying / the way that is closed: Star & knight cups. I tried to reconcile the friendship a couple times. Disaster. So i feel this way is "closed"
  3. The discussion: Tower and 2 swords (spades). These cards seem oddly paired. Tower is violent upheaval and 2 swords is stasis. I try to ignore the micro-managing (2 swords) ... find it really angers me ... and Tower. I dunno. 2nd opinions welcome.
  4. The Judgement: Sun & 5 wands/clubs. I am exactly where I'm supposed to be. Sun says stay with the commitment in spite of the conflicts and power struggles (5 wands). Again: open to second opinions.
  5. Syntheses (summary of all energies); Magician and Page Cups. Our communication is manipulative (Magician) based on emotional immaturity (P cups). This is the underlying issue from which all other aspects emerge. Not sure how to change this or if we can change it.

Anyone who made it this far ... thanks for reading. Hope you enjoyed the deck and spread image.

Ours did recently and had a trip to the vet for her upset stomach. She got some medicine which helped. Someone posted this on another thread which describes her to a T:

That's a nice looking deck you're using. Sounds like you're between a rock and a hard place with the President.❤️

@Bodhiseed and @Misterei, thanks for the support and chuckles this morning!  I really like the Key Master deck too!  I might be doing some googling soon . . .

And here's my reading for today in the Halloween readings thread:

Today's reading is for cat owners! 😆

From the Tarot of the Cat People, the Two of Wands; from the Insectorum Divinorum, the Scarab:

two%20of%20wands.jpg   scarab_0002.jpg

The gateway made by the rods this man holds and the priceless expression on the feline's face make me chuckle. Present a cat with a closed door and she will meow or scratch on it until its opened. But once opened, the cat will likely just sit there as if to say, "I just wanted the option." I think it must be the same with humans too. The Scarab is a type of dung beetle that collects dung into balls, then rolls them to an underground chamber to eat (or if its female, to leave for newly hatched larva to enjoy). The Egyptians connected its behavior to the early morning manifestation of the sun god Ra. Its message is that the sun will eventually set on our opportunity; if we do want to take advantage of it, we need to get rolling.
