fire cat pickles Posted January 13, 2023 Posted January 13, 2023 (edited) A thread for those who would like to work through their collection of decks, participants choose decks from their collections to work with for the week. Some use one deck, some use two. Some combine methods: Tarot, non-tarot (e.g. oracle), playing cards, or any other divinatory method is welcome. All we ask is that you use at least one tarot or oracle deck. No collection is too large or too small. The only rules we have are the Tarot, Tea & Me Rules; be respectful of one other. Please join us! You can drop in and out at anytime—reality and life permitting. New to tarot? Long time reader? Come on in. Please post with your chosen deck for the week. Chat away about your deck, how you're finding it (or not), etc., it's all up to you. Participants may either choose to share their readings here in this discussion thread or opt to have their own journal in the Journals Forum and link it here. Scarlet Woodland Posted January 13, 2023 Posted January 13, 2023 I'm in with The Wandering Star Tarot and the Pocket Dreams Of Gaia Tarot, when it arrives.
Guest Posted January 13, 2023 Posted January 13, 2023 I'll be working with the Mystical Dream Tarot this coming week. There's an exclusive spread there that I've always wanted to try.
fire cat pickles Posted January 13, 2023 Author Posted January 13, 2023 Welcome back @Scarlet Woodland and @Akhilleus 😀
Mi-Shell Posted January 13, 2023 Posted January 13, 2023 I am here - week 3 with my Sacred Hag Oracle - and enjoying it :)
Bodhiseed Posted January 13, 2023 Posted January 13, 2023 I'm in with the Tarot of the Absurd and the Post Psychedelic Cyberpunk. Thanks FC! ❤️
Scarlet Woodland Posted January 13, 2023 Posted January 13, 2023 (edited) Edged The Wandering Star Tarot with an egg shell copic marker tonight. The white sides vs cream borders were bugging me. Would have looked nice gilded, like the indie version but I always ends up getting it on the front borders a bit, so stuck with a cream shade. Edited January 13, 2023 by Scarlet Woodland
Misterei Posted January 14, 2023 Posted January 14, 2023 Hi @fire cat pickles I'm in with Fyodor Pavlov deck.
fire cat pickles Posted January 14, 2023 Author Posted January 14, 2023 Welcome back @Mi-Shell, @Bodhiseed and @Misterei 🙂
Guest Posted January 14, 2023 Posted January 14, 2023 Thinking of pairing an oracle deck to the Mystical Dream if I find any that complements it well. Or I can just use a sole oracle on the next DotW, since I want to explore them lately.
fire cat pickles Posted January 14, 2023 Author Posted January 14, 2023 I am using my Olympus Tarot paired with Sabian Symbols this week. These two are perfect together! Here's today's reading:
Rachelcat Posted January 14, 2023 Posted January 14, 2023 Hi weekly crew! Good to see you all again! This week I’ve got a cute pair of mini decks. I’ve given away most of my minis because my eyes don’t work as well as they used to, but I’m ready to give these a try! The Tarot: The Complete Kit (3.25 x 2.5 inches) stays in my collection because I love the minimalist, kinda folk art, and the black backgrounds. It’s a “Running Press Miniature Edition,” a cute little impulse buy bait at the bookstore checkout. Back when there were bookstores. I seem to remember someone on Aeclectic saying it is/was also published as Tarot Nova. It has a nice little booklet and a foldout spreadsheet on plain paper. I “needed” a color oracle with keywords, and the little Swatches of Chakra Deck (3.5 x 2.25 inches) fits the bill! It has 25 cards, 3 or 4 for each chakra plus “Limitless.” It’s by the same creator/artist as last week’s oracle (Signs of the Times Oracle), Krystal Banner. (The Prism Oracle did nothing for me, maybe because it was trying too hard or something?) Swatches has a QR code on the back that links to a pdf guidebook with brief chakra info. A short interview this time because there are only 25 cards in the oracle. Strengths: Dreams, Queen of Pentacles The decks are a way of accessing my intuition (6th chakra, queen) by physical means (pentacles). The tarot encourages growth (pear on the branch). Weaknesses: Connected, IX of Wands The decks aren’t very helpful for reading about relationships, romantic or otherwise (green 4th chakra). The person in the 9 of Wands has put her energy (wands) into protecting herself by building a barrier between herself and others. What can I learn from them: Emotions, King of Cups I can learn that emotions are literally visceral, in the 2nd chakra. It looks like the king is being swallowed by a matching orange fish, but he’s trying to stay in control (king) of his cup of emotions without being overwhelmed by the more physical energies of the fish. This certainly an appropriate pair! Outcome of our work together: Universal Energy, VIII of Cups Emotions (cups) can be elevated to a more spiritual level (7th chakra) by taking time to consider and meditate on them (8=Mercury). One of the cups is on his head! He’s not out to sea, he’s taking time out from distractions to understand himself. Wow, these decks seem to work together well! We’ll see the rest of this week!
Scarlet Woodland Posted January 14, 2023 Posted January 14, 2023 Received the pocket Dreams of Gaia today. Buying it felt like a real indulgence, when I have and hardly use the full size version but I'm so glad I did. The playing card size without the shiny, thick cardstock and borders is sooo much better for me. I'll be using this much more now. It did need immediate edging in black obviously 😄. Absolutely loving The Wandering Star Tarot. I could certainly criticise it, if being objective but it just vibes with me for some reason.
Bodhiseed Posted January 15, 2023 Posted January 15, 2023 This week I'll be using the Tarot of the Absurd, created and self-published by Jessica Rose Shanahan. I'll also be using another self-published deck, the Post-psychedelic Cyberpunk by Masha Falkov. The draws for today are the Nine of Cups and the Virus: Shanahan uses a flexible genie to illustrate her 'wish card.' Such elasticity suggests that learning to adapt to whatever life throws our way could be a great tool in finding contentment and delight. Having rigid expectations are a reliable way to end up frustrated and disappointed. On the other hand, being versatile can open other avenues and opportunities. The Virus implies a host has been invaded and is now under its influence. The host might be a body or a computer, but the most common is the mind. It happens when we unintentionally let a thought or belief inhabit our head, and then we go off the rails (and no contentment will be found there). The only solution is a virus scan, also known as mindfulness, which allows us to be aware of what is running loose in the mind and dismantle it with logic. Disorder is inherent in stability... A truly stable system expects the unexpected, is prepared to be disrupted, waits to be transformed. ―Tom Robbins
Bodhiseed Posted January 15, 2023 Posted January 15, 2023 That's a nice oracle and tarot pairing, @Rachelcat! 😍

MichaelH Posted January 15, 2023 Posted January 15, 2023 I'm going away to France for the next two weeks and bringing the Light Seer's Tarot with me so that is going to be my deck of this week (and next). It is my favourite deck to use so after I bit of thought I decided to leave the rest at home 🙂
Mi-Shell Posted January 15, 2023 Posted January 15, 2023 Good tidings:) When on the Winter Solstice I opened my deck, the Sacred Hag Oracle, I quickly noticed, that the very last card, the "house of the Yaga" was missing. Immediately I wrote to the deck creator and the distributing company, New World Library, about this. Next day I got a reply back that they will send the missing card up to Canada. It arrived here last Friday and I am very pleased! Now finally I can draw from a full deck :) This card pertains to Slavic/ Russian lore of the Baba Yaga and her hut, that is running on Chicken feet = Slavic or Raven feet = Russian/ Siberian lore and for that reason is very dear to me :) the book text prompts you, to think, talk and write about "returning home" to your roots and ancestral wisdom and traditions as well as dealing with homesickness and things that feel inauthentic. then the hut may just run away until you realize that and return to authenticity.
Drake_Winterfell Posted January 15, 2023 Posted January 15, 2023 (edited) I'm going to use the Tarot of the Silicon Dawn for this week. It's a very different deck and I love it. Also I believe I forgot to thank everyone for the welcomes last week. Oops 😅 Thanks for the welcomes even if my thanks is a week late. Lol! Edited January 15, 2023 by Drake_Winterfell
fire cat pickles Posted January 15, 2023 Author Posted January 15, 2023 Welcome back @Rachelcat, @MichaelH and @Drake_Winterfell!

Rachelcat Posted January 16, 2023 Posted January 16, 2023 Hugs from me, too! I don't want to be left out of the group hug! Here's my reading for today: I'll be back in the office Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday, so I'll probably do just one pair each day. Or maybe more if time permits. At least the decks are small, so they won't weigh down my backpack!
