Hi everyone, what could mean the 3 of Cups as how to deal with anxiety?

Maybe sharing how you're feeling with your loved ones

Any ideas?

Thanks.

@November Either that, or maybe gatherings or celebrations MAKE a person anxious?  It's hard to know what to say, without knowing what place the card appears in a reading.  Is it showing a cause, or giving advice, or showing an outcome?   And is it upright or reversed?

The Three of Cups upright usually indicates a coming together with friends or family, who may be celebrating some sort of success or joint venture—or just enjoying each other's company and a break from the daily grind.  So its placement in a reading about anxiety would be important.

Have some fun, forget the anxiety by doing something fun and sociable that works for you.

For example, I suffer from a severe anxiety disorder, but doing fun things makes me forget this. Also socialising with friends and family I know actually helps my anxiety, it's just new people that worsens it for me. So socialising and enjoying yourself to take your mind off it. Do it within your own boundaries 🙂

In the Star Tarot guidebook Cathy McClelland describes this card as a healing card that brings well-being through strong supportive friendships and loving relationships, joy and laughter. She also says, “… your heart is full, your life is happy, and your spirit is high. Mind, body, and spirit dance together.”

As a recommendation of how to deal with anxiety, it seems getting mind, body, and spirit into alignment would be part of it.

Hi. The three of cups is also about fellowship and community. And in this case, fellowship refers to the gathering of like-minded people who share something in common with you. And since you wanted to know about the three of cups in relation to anxiety, it could mean going to some support group where other people suffer from anxiety, if this helps at all.

Super-individualistic TdM infusion (beware my set of meanings, it's an alien!):

Allow dynamic expression in regards to what you feel, voice it instead of keeping it in.

For example: "Hello ladies and gentlemen, I am feeling super anxious standing here on stage right now.

Actually, I am shaking in my boots! Anyway, I have something to tell, so please: Enjoy the show!"

And: 'tis but a suggestion. All of the above posts provide good material, really!

@Chariot the card was in advice position (so in this sense how to deal with anxiety) and it was upright, but only because I don't use reversals.

Hi @DanielJUK, thank for your suggestion, it makes sense actually, it's when I'm alone that I'm starting to overthink and thus to get anxious.

Thank you so much @FindYourSovereignty, this advice makes sense too.

Hi @Mister, thank you so much, yes, also expressing how I'm feeling makes sense.

I would interpret 3 of cups as a message to lighten up.

To seek out the support of others, to connect, to talk my issues through with someone rather than dealing with it alone.   Maybe finding an online support group.

To take time to recognise and celebrate any achievements  - even small ones.

Thank you so much @Jasmine, this makes a lot of sense, I agree.

I'd see it here as advice to spend time with your friends to take your mind off your fears. Spending time alone fretting feeds anxiety big time !

Thank you @TanjaTheWitch and @gregory. I agree with your takes, spending time with my loved ones make me feel better, it's when I'm alone that negative thoughts come.

I think the ability to see things with a sense of humor always helps.  Even when it's gallows humor.  It's literally saved my life many times.

I also see the less obvious in this card as well as the celebration.  There are friends celebrating and enjoying themselves of course, but it's always a great big help to anxiety if a person can reach out to others with the intent to see if they're needing some help, too.  I have a tendency toward anxiety myself and that's what I see in the 3 of Cups.  It's not only about myself, it's about mutual consideration and support.  I tend to develop tunnel vision where I get so wrapped up in my own situation and "what if's" about the future that I isolate myself and feel like I'm all alone and it gets overwhelming.  By getting outside my own head, socializing, but also showing interest in the others around me and what their needs might be, my own seem to fade.

The 3 of Cups also means (as I read it anyway) to live in the moment.  That's what the people in the card are doing.  They're having a great time and loving every present moment.  They aren't thinking about the negative or less-than-perfect or things they fear about the future.  They're just reveling in what's going on right then and there.

Hello @Grizabella and thank you for your help. I agree with all your takes here, I think you explained very well this card.

Also the aspect of humor, which I didn't think about, sounds good to me.
