A thread for those who would like to work through their collection of decks, participants choose decks from their collections to work with for the week. Some use one deck, some use two. Some combine methods: Tarot, non-tarot (e.g. oracle), playing cards, or any other divinatory method is welcome. All we ask is that you use at least one tarot or oracle deck.

No collection is too large or too small. The only rules we have are the Tarot, Tea & Me Rules; be respectful of one other. Please join us!

  • Please post with your chosen deck for the week.
  • Chat away about your deck, how you're finding it (or not), etc., it's all up to you.
  • Participants may either choose to share their readings here in this discussion thread or opt to have their own journal in the Journals Forum and link it here.
  • Yet others may even have an offline journal in paper & pencil/pen form.

Share as often, as much, or as little as you like. You can drop in and out at anytime—reality and life permitting. New to tarot? Long time reader? Come on in.

Hi, deck of the week crew!  Beautiful flowers!  What are they called?  I need to snap some pics of my azaleas to share with you!

This week will be the Enchanted Unicorn Oracle with Making Magick: Manifesting Your Dreams Mini Inspiration Cards, two Rockpool oracles.

My friend gave me a stuffed unicorn for Valentine’s Day.  (His name is Earl for reasons I won’t go into here!)  So I started unicorn geeking, including rereading The Natural History of Unicorns by Chris Lavers, adding a unicorn category to my collection list (for the record, I have 3 tarots and 3 oracles that have at least one unicorn pictured), and, of course, shopping for a unicorn deck.

I’m not a fluffy bunny rainbow kind of girl (at least on my tarot side!), so I ended up with the Enchanted Unicorn deck, which is more psychedelic than fluffy.  The creator says the art is inspired by the Voynich Manuscript, but to me it seems more inspired by the “shrooms” one of its cards features.

Each card has a circular symbol on it, some familiar to me, some not, so to research them, I got the Making Magick mini deck by the same creator, Priestess Moon.

AND each card is associated with a plant, and a title and keyword.  So it’s kind of a mess, but full of info.  36 cards.  (I also got a book about the Voynich Manuscript but it was a dud.  Still deciding if I should spring for a more scholarly intro and repro.)  For each card, the book has a paragraph about the plant, “Divination” info, and “Unicorn Magic” actions to take based on the card.

I think I’ll just match up the Making Magick cards with the unicorn cards for now.  I might try them separately at some point.

Shorter interview time!

Most important characteristic:  Dragonfly, Everything is going to be fine, Juniper, Spirit

I used to be afraid of dragonflies because they’re such LARGE insects.  But they are fascinating nonetheless.  Even though I don’t believe in actual spiritual stuff, they deck is still reassuring and positive about spiritual things.  Book says juniper is about cleansing and letting go of toxic things.  (It’s great in gin, too!  I don’t drink, but when I did, gin was my favorite spirit.)  So it’s reassuring and helps me let go.

What can you teach me?  1967, Break your routine, Gerber daisy, Festival

It can teach me to break my routine!  And not just veg out but use my energy for fun and enjoyment, like the summer of love.  I was a little too young to participate in that, but its spirit can be enjoyed anytime!  And who doesn’t like the innocent exuberance of red daisies?!

How can I learn it?  Rainbow, Feel at peace, Wheatgrass, Healing

And here’s a rainbow to belie my description as not a rainbow person!  And chakras and healing.  I can learn to deeply yet lightly enjoy by taking care of my body in order to take care of my spirit.  Wheatgrass I think continues the concept of expelling toxins.

Outcome of our work together:  Vessel, admit your true feelings, Orris root, Labyrinth

I don’t really like “admit your true feelings” because one of the realizations I had when studying Buddhism was that I’m not just my feelings.  Before the realization, I was always second-guessing myself about how I REALLY feel about things.  Not having to do that anymore is very freeing.  But I guess that doesn’t stand in the way of honestly exploring the labyrinth of emotions and finding out what I’m carrying around in my vessel.  Book says powdered orris root was used as a perfume carrier.  Maybe my investigation will help me find the sweet scent in my inner vessel!

I'll spend the week with the Fey Tarot. It's trimmed and I love it 🙂

I'll dive in w/ my Trionfi Dela Luna Illustrated.

And I'm eager to see that @Nemia!

@Rachelcat, I'm not a fluffy unicorn gal either, but I love the funky little unicorns in that deck!

That shrub is a native flame azalea. 😊

Welcome back

@Bodhiseed

@Rachelcat

@Nemia

@Wyrdkiss

@Akhilleus 🙂

I've been waiting to get back to my Williams Minchiate for a while and it finally came back around on my list. I may stay with it for a while since I'm more familiar with it and it is one of my favorites.

I'm looking forward to seeing your deck in action this week!

This week I'll be using the Gill Tarot, created by Elizabeth Gill and published by U.S. Games. The oracle deck I'll be using with it is The Circle, created by D.R. Taylor and published by Versation Publishing. Today's draws are the Ace of Wands and Trust:

If we all did the things we are capable of doing, we would literally astound ourselves.
–Thomas Edison

This fiery Ace of Wands is given the keyword 'potency' - the measure of a thing's strength and effect. When we are given an opportunity to create or do something incredible and wonderful, our first reaction might be, "Wow, I'm honored but I think this is more than I can handle." We doubt ourselves and our abilities, envisioning a failure before we've even begun. Yet Trust suggests that not only do we have what it takes, we also have people who will be there to help us. We have more available resources than we originally thought.

Hi all!  Here's my reading for today.  These silly unicorns are talking to me today!

At first I had a bit of a lackluster response to this Trionfi deck. One reason was I found the court cards rather negatively depicted in the pdf LWB.  I realized, however, that I was hitting specific ones, and the others have more of a duality.  Being primarily  a Thoth reader, I'm certainly not new to the down sides of the Courts.

This pull today, a series in a free-form reading, was all about the Cups. I'll spare you the boring details of my internal struggle communicating with someone, but I

think these minor arcana are rather nicely illustrated.  A bit whimsical, true of his style, but also old-world feeling and quirky-dark. I'm starting to like it more and more.

This may replace my Paradoxical Purple Trionfi 333, which is more Marseilles pure and non-illustrated.  Just more fun with this pack.
